Formatets betydelse : hur arbetsprocesser och produktionsvillkor formar journalistiken i webb-tvGunnarsson, Peter January 2012 (has links)
New technology has created new opportunities for journalists working with web TV. Changes in the work processes have led to new professional roles. According to the theory of media logic such events become news that suits media organizations and working conditions. How does the media logic affect the editorial workflow and how does it affect professional roles? In light of my own experience in various roles in television journalism, I examine how the web TV format shapes the work of journalists. Based on previous research in this area, this thesis also examines the professional role video reporters play and what this new role means in relation to other professional roles in journalism. Previous research shows that the video reporter role offers both opportunities and threats to journalism. (Brännström 2008, Wallace 2009, Nygren & Zuiderveld, 2011, and others). This study, based on participant observation at a web TV editorial desk, shows that the media logic of the format of web TV affects the work process in several ways. First, in terms of how news is produced in the field, and how news is created and re-created from existing material at the production desk. Inasmuch that consumers are increasingly becoming potential producers with cellphone cameras, there is a potential video journalist in every cellphone owner. The pace of work drives journalists to publish at a faster pace, which in turn means less time for reflection. Often the job of the video reporter is to select an in-point and out-point in an interview quickly and publish! This survey also highlights the video reporter’s role in relation to other journalists that work at a web editorial desk. The result shows that there is a difference between video reporters and writing reporters and also that there are differences within the group of video reporters. The study also provides an insight into the journalistic challenges at hand with new differentiations and combinations of roles in journalism within the field of web TV.In light of the observations derived from the material, one can say that the work of the video reporter at a web TV editorial desk is very much molded into a shape, the shape of practice governing the work, or in other words, the media logic controls what kind of video journalism reporters exercise in the production of online web TV.

Previous issue date: 2011-06-24 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / The study addressed the process of working people, called "pickers" who collect recyclable materials, particularly scrap of cardboard. The work done by the collectors of scrap cardboard occupies a central place in the lives of those who perform it, because, besides being a means of survival, is also a means of social integration, which enables the relationship between people and the feeling of belonging to a group. The survey was conducted in the South Zone, encompassing the city center of Manaus, where we selected three combinations (ALLIANCE, AND ECO-RECICLA ARPA) that work exclusively with scavenging scraps of cardboard. The process of industrialization in the Industrial Pole of Manaus and local businesses not only contribute to environmental degradation but also to the emergence of new social categories such as professional scavengers of cardboard. For this work, we understand that the city of Manaus there is a significant amount of leftover scraps of cardboard, where scavengers bound associations collect this material, so we need is to understand how this process works today and how the process of work done by these social actors. The aim of this study was to delineate the living conditions and talk through the characterization work processes carried out by scavengers of cardboard from Manaus-AM. The methodology used in this study was an exploratory qualitative research, through the forms, interviews, participant observation, oral history and geospatial technologies. According to results it was found that there is a small number of women on the streets picking up cardboard, they prefer to separate the material for recycling, organizing the sale and attend meetings representing the associations. The survey showed that 20% of the pickers had never attended school and other 70.0% responded that they have incomplete primary education and only 10.0% completed high school. Of the total number of collectors only 25.0% were born in the city of Manaus, while 75.0% were born elsewhere. About 85.0% of the collectors who own their own homes while 15.0% live in rented accommodation. According to the survey, despite the disease - especially the skin - they are very common among most collectors of cardboard, they do not link to their health, not binding them to the status of their work. Regarding the problem of alcoholism among collectors of cardboard, the survey data showed that 64.28% of respondents said that there are problems with alcohol and 28.5% said no. Regarding the working day was found to range from 9 to 15 hours weekly. As for monthly income, these range from £ 540.00 to 1.080.00, while the monthly average is $ 810.00. In the city of Manaus scavenging cardboard is held mainly by associations (Alliance, Arpa, Eco-Recycle) of reusable and recyclable, the workers perform the recycling collection service, material separation, pressing and baling of cardboard in different sizes . Although present in summary form. These actors begin their work scavenging material in the streets of inner cities and gather in the courtyards of the industries, after the selection process, this material is separated, weighed, pressed and finally tied it with bales of different sizes to marketing . The definition of collection sites has been established for many years, there are cases of scavengers collecting cardboard for 10 or 17 years, the center part of the routine of many collectors. Therefore, the space occupied, the area becomes a reference for the collector belonging. We can say it was an odd experience, to study the working process of the cardboard collectors in the city of Manaus, and see it through the eyes of a researcher, the situation of these social actors, as they enjoy what they do, we also found the possibility for change and solutions for the best development work. Also, realize that the work done by the collectors of cardboard are fundamental to the promotion of recycling and, consequently, to build a world natural and ecologically healthy, as it brings environmental benefits by saving natural resources, energy and water, beyond the undoubted environmental aspect.

Fica evidente a importância de uma visão sistêmica de saú / Humanization is a cross-cutting policy of all National Health System that aims to integrate the different levels of care. Without a networking can not be humanization. The weak link of this network about humanization is the secondary level of care. This study aims to understand precisely the humanization in secondary care and customer service, and as a process of networking. For this, we interviewed 10 professionals from different specialties working in the clinic of the Catholic University of Pelotas. Results showed that secondary care as a service is characterized as fragmented and disjointed from primary care and hospital care, despite being regarded as key link in the health system. Furthermore, secondary care as work process has a hospital-feature, emphasizing the technical nature and hierarchy, making hard a health care designed as a whole. It is evident the importance of a systemic view of health and the need for changes in work processes.

Previous issue date: 2015-03-02 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This thesis has as research object the management and its expressions on daily basis of work processes from social workers that act in different Brazilian municipalities, aiming to analyze how the emerging professional demands, particularly within the performance in public agencies with the management of social policies, configure the exercise and training of a Social Worker today. In this sense, I start with the presumption that the recognition of the inability of current professional demands, as to the prosecution of the social policy management in the several government levels, which is linked to the professionals lack of clarity about their duties and responsibilities in these places, as well as the complexity of the actions derived from them involving a deep domain and articulation of technical and political dimensions of professional work. Therefore, the theoretical path passed through the discussion contents on the management and their expression in the work processes, in the organization of the Brazilian state, considering the particularities of management reform occurred in the 1990s and administrative political decentralization, transferring the responsibilities to sub-national instances. Starting from this new configuration, I try to show the centrality that the management is replaced in the practice and training of social workers from professional demands placed when it is asked to work with the management of social policies operationalized by different municipalities. The methodology was based on the qualitative approach and on the documentary research. As data collection sources, were utilized public procurement notices, made in the last five years in different municipalities, available via internet and resumes, also available via Internet, from schools of social work affiliated with the Brazilian Association of Education and Research Social Services, in 2012. It was found that the demands are mainly from the social welfare and health policies, and that they concentrate activities related to labor management, financial management and information management. The complexity of the activities included in the demands is essential for the (re) organization of work processes and to (re) think the (re) organization of content needed for the training of social workers / A presente tese tem como objeto de pesquisa a gestão e suas expressões no cotidiano dos processos de trabalho dos assistentes sociais que trabalham nos diferentes municípios brasileiros, objetivando analisar como as demandas profissionais emergentes, particularmente no âmbito da atuação em órgãos públicos com a gestão de políticas sociais, configuram o exercício e a formação profissional do assistente social na atualidade.

Media processes for content production : Studies of structures and climate impactsPicha Edwardsson, Malin January 2012 (has links)
The business environment in which media companies exist today is rapidly changing. Many media companies are in the process of positioning themselves to this ongoing change and to finding their place in the new media landscape. A process of change creates an opportunity to optimize work processes on different levels. In order to meet these opportunities, as well as being proactive when it comes to environmental performance, we need to understand the current structures of media companies, for example when it comes to work processes. The aim of this study is to identify and analyze the process structures and the potential climate impact of the content production of three different media companies in Sweden: a local newspaper, a monthly magazine and a local television station. The overall research questions of this thesis are: • What are the major editorial processes at media companies and how can the workflows be visualized, in order for us to discover how the processes can be optimized and how this in turn may affect the environmental impact? • How are the results of the process analysis related to a general assessment of the carbon footprint of the content production, in order for us to identify the major reasons for this potential climate change impact and opportunities for change? The research methods used were semi-structured interviews and carbon footprint assessment. The research results suggest that in general terms, newspapers and magazines spend a considerable amount of working time producing content, and content production is the single most important reason for travelling at the three media companies studied. Travel is also done by management to a high degree in all three case studies, mostly to different kinds of business meetings. Planning is another work activity that takes up a considerable amount of time when looking at the total time spent at work. Computers are to a high degree used when planning, but more advanced computer programmes or tools could be recommended to expand the planning possibilities further, thereby saving time and money for the media company. The results of the life cycle assessments indicate that the major reasons for potential climate change impact are travel – both work-related business travel and trips to and from work – electronic equipment, and electricity use. The research results suggest that in order to reduce potential environmental impact from travel, media management should look into technical solutions for meetings at a distance, car-pooling or increasing the use of public transportation. Furthermore, new technical solutions have a potential to lower the costs of the content production processes and streamline work processes in general. With a conscious effort by management, new technology could also be beneficial for the overall environmental impact of the media company. The media companies could for example consider the environmental performance to a higher degree when buying new electronic devices, such as computers. Finally, the media companies could look over their electricity use and make an attempt to reduce their electricity use, as well as making active choices for environmentally friendly alternatives when choosing electricity supplier. /
QC 20121128

En reflexiv praktik : inom digitaliserade arbetsprocesser / Reflexive practice : within digitalized work processesFager, Matilda, Elofsson, Anna, Fatalla Rontti, Mathilda January 2024 (has links)
Digitization has taken on a central role for many organizations, and its progress has opened up opportunities for organizations to increase their efficiency and streamline their everyday operations. Efficiency is an important phenomenon for many organizations as it yields high returns by achieving higher set goals with less effort. The purpose of this qualitative study is to gain an understanding of how digitized work processes shape the middle manager's opportunities for reflexive practice. The study aims to investigate whether organizations in the future may retain innovation and learning within the organization through reflexive practice, despite efficiency requirements leading to increasing standardization of tasks. This study focuses on the middle management role, conducting ten interviews with middle managers in the private sector to gather empirical data. The research targets middle managers in various organizations as well as senior management to understand how to maintain reflexive practice even in a digital environment where many tasks become standardized. In conclusion, the results show that digitization has affected work processes, creating both opportunities and challenges for the middle manager's space to practice reflexivity. Working with reflexive practice has proven necessary in the implementation of digital tools to reduce the risks of errors. At the same time, automation has opened up greater scope for organizations to practice reflexivity, but utilizing that opportunity depends on them and the unique needs of the organization. Furthermore, we can observe that the practice of reflexivity is most common in problematic contexts and rarely in processes that work smoothly. Therefore, the middle manager is in a balancing act in terms of how much is required of them to exercise reflexive practice in their organization and how much they should prioritize questioning the various digitized work processes.

Professional Immigrant Women's Experiences of Managing Work and Family Conflicts: The Case of Chinese and Taiwanese Faculty in Research Intensive UniversitiesLi, Yun Ling 05 June 2017 (has links)
This study investigates first-generation Chinese and Taiwanese immigrant women faculty's workplace experiences and their strategies for managing work and family demands. By looking at how immigration, ethnicity, gender, and work processes shape these women's ideology and practices, this study addresses the following questions: How do married Chinese and Taiwanese immigrant women in research-intensive universities handle work and family conflicts? How do they negotiate their gender-role expectations and actual practices at work and home? And, finally, do their practices vary by academic disciplines based on the work processes involved in conducting research? This study points to the dynamic nature of cultures such that immigrant women can challenge some aspects of the traditional culture and retain those aspects that help them to receive support for managing work and family demands. Findings from this study also suggest that based on different work processes, what may seem to be flexible can, in fact, present particular barriers and impede workplace performance. Finally, these findings show that in some academic fields, being women may place obstacles for career advancement, but that co-ethnic network provides alternative opportunities for them and can lead to greater research productivity. This study resonates with previous studies showing that childcare responsibilities place women faculty at a disadvantageous position in terms of job evaluation and career advancement. As well, it illuminates how disciplinary differences concerning work process shape women faculty's capability of arranging work schedule flexibly. / Ph. / Psychiatry's work process : A sociological survey and examination of the work process and the formal structure.Stern, Elin, Börjesson, Erica January 2016 (has links)
The main purpose of this study is to survey and reach an understanding of how the practical work in psychiatry at times depart from the organization’s stated formal structure. To find the material that would give us the answers we read the organizations own documents about the formal structures form and also we had five interviews. All the tutors are involved in one way or another with the psychiatric and the forensic process. .Job titles vary in order to access information from different parts of the process and get multiple perspectives. The data was analyzed with sociological concepts and a more comprehensive theory. Some of the concepts are “formal structure”, “cooperation”, "the relationship between freedom and constraint” and “gräsrotsbyråkrater”. The theory that we used to examine the material is W. Meyer and Rowans theory about how the formal structure of an organization and business is only a myth and ceremony. The result of the study indicates that a plurality of elements has an impact on why the difference between the formal structure and the practical process exists. The loose constraint leads to a wider freedom of action that gives a varied embodiment within the different workgroups. It becomes a habitual pattern in the practical process and the looks of the formal structure is not a priority. The practical process is not aligned with the formal structure and that causes problems. The cooperation is affected negatively and becomes inexplicit and the workgroups can form how the duties are done instead of the organizational management plan (the formal structure). That brings the opportunity to decide and claim that the own group does it better so cooperation partners is excluded in the practical process, when they actually are supposed to be included according to the formal structure.

A implementação das novas tecnologias da informação e suas implicações nos processos de trabalho dos bibliotecários: um estudo de caso no Núcleo Integrado de Bibliotecas da UFMA NIB/UFMA / The implementation of the new information technologies and their implications in the work processes of the librarians: a case study of libraries integrated nucleus at UFMA-NIBUFMACosta, Maria de Fátima Oliveira 10 July 2015 (has links)
Case study on the Central Library (BC) of Libraries Integrated Nucleus from the Federal University of Maranhão (UFMA/NIB) with the purpose of analyzing the transformation that have occurred in the work of the librarians in face of the implementation of the new information technology SIG- Modules SIPAC and SIGAA in BC of NIB/UFMA. The chosen population for the development of the research was concentrated in 12 (twelve) librarians that develop their activities in the sectors: control service and formation of collection (SCFA), technical processes service (SPT), and bibliographical information service (SIB). The data were collected through interviews and documentary research that subsidized the analysis of the results. The theoretical framework of the study talked about the information technology and its implications on the work processes of the enterprises and libraries; the evolution of the libraries and university libraries and; the work processes in the context of the world of work, work in libraries and the relationship with the information technology. The analysis of the data showed that the work processes of the BC librarians have become as a result of the implementation of this new technology, bringing consequences in the forms of execution of the tasks, leading them to adapt and create new ways for the development of their activities, in order to correspond to the demands generated. Detach that the introduction of the new technologies allowed to the librarians and the manager of the library a greater control over the work and caused even greater accessibility and visibility of library services to the academic community. Propose actions for adequacy of the work processes of the librarians, that converge with the new technologies. It is concluded that the use of the new information technology SIG- Modules SIGAA and SIPAC by NIBUFMA, brought transformation in the work processes of the librarians, affecting the daily practices, mainly because these professionals were already trained and accustomed to acting with the previous technology that used some manual routines combined with mechanical technologies.
