Dessa forma, os estudos em torno do conceito Aboutness têm adquirido um papel evidente nos estudos do campo documental, tendo em vista, que o processo de atribuição de termos e conceitos a partir da leitura documental deve sintetizar satisfatoriamente o conteúdo informativo do documento tornando esse procedimento um momento chave para todas as fases subsequentes do processo. Desse modo, a Ciência da Informação tem buscado também em outros campos, subsídios que colaborem para a abordagem temática, de forma a auxiliar a sua compreensão de acordo com a finalidade de sua representação em um sistema de informação. Realizamos assim a abordagem da literatura da Ciência da Informação em torno do conceito aboutness com vistas à melhor compreensão dessa abordagem e para tanto, são explorados além da literatura relacionada, quatro dos principais periódicos nacionais da área, selecionando artigos que tenham apresentado ou discutido essa questão. Verificou-se que o termo aboutness foi traduzido em geral por atinência, tematicidade e sobrecidade, sendo que não houve um consenso quanto a um dos três termos, no entanto, enquanto sobrecidade caiu em desuso, atinência e tematicidade permanecem em utilização. Além disso, apesar de pouco explorado em língua portuguesa, esse conceito traz implicações conceituais para a área, que podem influenciar o desenvolvimento teórico dos processos de identificação de assunto ao buscar uma abordagem que visa não apenas a identificação do aboutness... / The subject determination that occurred in the analytical stage of a document submitted to the subject analysis, is a field of study in need of methodologies that can help the professional readers in the selection of concepts that provide the subsidies to elaborate documentaries products. Thus, studies on the concept Aboutness have acquired a clear role in the documentary field studies in order that the process of assigning terms and concepts from the documentary reading should adequately summarize the information content of the document by making the procedure a key moment for all subsequent stages of the process. Thus, information science has sought in other fields, subsidies to help in the subject analysis in order to assist in your understanding in accordance with the purpose of their representation in an information system. We approach the literature of information science around the concept of aboutness with a purpose to better understanding this conception of subject analysis and both are explored in addition to the related literature, four major national journals in the field, selecting items that have submitted or discussed this concept. It was found that the term aboutness has been translated by atinência, tematicidade and sobrecidade, and there was no consensus on one of three terms, however, while sobrecidade has fallen into disuse, tematicidade and atinência remain in use. Furthermore, although little explored in portuguese, this concept has conceptual implications for the area, which can influence the theoretical development of processes to identify the subject by seeking an approach that aims not only to identify the aboutness inherent in the document, but also aboutness assigned by the indexer or user, also handled by meaning (significado), and thus admits that even with the possibility of assigning different meanings and interpretations of a document that has an inherent and fundamental issue that does not change.

Syftet med denna kandidatuppsats är att utreda användargenererad metadata (taggar) som komplement till kontrollerad indexering (ämnesord och klassifikationskoder) av skönlitterära tecknade serier. Studiens relevans grundas på ett behov av att utveckla riktlinjer för att ämnesbeskriva- och skapa sökingångar till tecknade serier via bibliotekskataloger (1), samt att implementering av taggningsfunktioner, via gränssnitt i onlinekataloger (OPACS), blir allt vanligare vilket förutsätter utredning för att överväga en kombination mellan systemen (2). För att besvara studiens syfte utfördes tre delstudier. Först analyserades 48 serietitlar representerade via ämnesord och klassifikationskoder i MARC-format via Libris (I), därefter analyserades de 10 titlarna - med mest metadata från steg I - representerade via taggmoln från LibraryThing (LT) (II) för att slutligen göra en jämförelse mellan de 10 MARC-posterna och taggmolnen (III). Kvalitativt orienterad innehållsanalys har använts för att samla in, dela upp samt jämföra ämnesord-/klassifikationskoder med taggar efter fasetterna: genre, tid, plats, ämne, person och form, framtagna av bl.a. Svensk Biblioteksförening (2004): ”Att Indexera Skönlitteratur”. Aboutness-teori och semiotisk-teori har applicerats för att dels skapa en djupare förståelse för problematiken i att indexera skönlitteratur (-och bild) konsekvent men även för att jämföra systemen (dvs. kontrollerat indexeringssystem med folksonomi-baserat system) ytterligare. Resultatet av studien visade att få termer, via MARC-formaten, representerade fasetter som karaktär, ämne, tid och plats medan taggmolnen från LT innehöll desto mer metadata om seriernas ”innehåll” såsom: karaktärer, (sub)genrer och ämnen. Studien visade även tendenser som att taggarna var desto mer konnotativt präglade samt att de representerade dokumentens aboutness i högre grad, jämfört med klassifikationsnotationerna-/ämnesorden, samtidigt som det skulle behövas mer ingående studier för att närma sig taggarnas egentliga betydelse. Taggarna synliggjorde även ett mer vardagligt språkbruk samtidigt som inkonsistens gällande ordstavning och syntax uppenbarades. För att kunna besvara om användargenererad metadata kompletterar kontrollerad indexering krävs fortsatta studier kring varför användare taggar samt vilka termer som används vid informationssökning av tecknade serier. Analys av metadata från lokala bibliotekskataloger skulle även behöva göras för att ge en mer rättvis bild av hur ämnesordsindexering av tecknade serier ser ut i praktiken.

This thesis is a study of aboutness. It defends the claim that we have singular thoughts about ordinary objects and argues that an essential part of how we do so is by maintaining singular representations. This proposal allows us to avoid traditional, unsatisfying conceptions of the scope of singular thought while restoring the sense in which such thought is a distinctively epistemic achievement. Reconnecting the study of aboutness with epistemology promises to alleviate the sense of directionlessness in the contemporary literature, offering a firmer grip on the phenomenon along with new, systematic resources for its investigation. Chapters 1-2 explore the effects of contextualist machinery on orthodox views about singular thought. It is widely thought that if there is to be a plausible connection between the truth of a de re attitude report about a subject and that subject's possession of a singular thought, then there can be no acquaintance requirement(s) on singular thought. Chapter 1 shows that this view rests on a faulty picture of how we talk about attitudes. Indeed, the truth of a de re attitude report cannot be taken to track the singular/non-singular distinction without collapsing it. A new, contextualist picture is needed. That there must be a distinction between singular and non-singular intentionality is emphasized in Chapter 2, where a key explanatory role for singular thought - brought out by a thought experiment due to Strawson - is examined. I show that the role does not call for any distinctive kind of mental content. Once we abandon the two widespread views questioned in Chapters 1-2, our grip on the phenomenon of singular aboutness is loosened: it is not constitutively tied to the kinds of attitude-reporting data or mental content by which it is often assumed to be revealed. Where are we to look for insight? What makes something the object of a singular thought? According to Russell, it is a datum of intuition that singular thought involves a kind of knowledge; a theory of aboutness will precisify the intuitive notion of 'knowing which thing one is thinking about' in order to capture this demand in a philosophically revealing way. If Russell is right, teasing out this connection to knowledge will allow us to see what it takes for a particular thing to be the immediate subject matter of thought. Chapter 3 discusses Evans's theory of this kind. Chapter 4 examines recent work by Dickie. While serious concerns emerge in each case, insights recovered are used to precisify Russell's requirement, leading to a novel picture of singular representation and the epistemic character of this achievement. While the chapters follow a narrative, providing an extended rationale for the proposal in Chapter 4, each may be read in isolation by those familiar with the philosophical issues. Foi necessário fomentar um questionamento sobre o aboutness e sua relação com a mímese e a idéia de informação como coisa de Michael Buckland. Chegando assim a evidência temática. Em seguida, conceituou-se o gênero crônica e sua forma como universo documental para a Ciência da Informação. Analisando as crônicas de Plínio Marcos, produzidas entre 1964 e 1980, observou-se a mobilidade da estrutura canônica da narrativa, a saber, manipulação, competência, performance e sanção. A complexidade da estrutura revelou a dificuldade no desenvolvimento de uma metodologia de análise. Como conjetura, aplicou-se o percurso gerativo de sentido, depois de dividir a crônica em episódios. O resultado foi a possibilidade de analisar as crônicas a partir da fragmentação de sua superestrutura e realizar um percurso de temas para encontrar a tematicidade intrínseca do documento narrativo ficcional. / Abstract: Starting from the question about the kind of intrinsical information in the fictional narrative, this research looked for data for documental analysis. It was necessary to develop a question regarding to aboutness and its relation to the mimese and the ideia of information-as-thing by Michael Buckland. Reaching by this way an evidence to a aboutness. After that, chronicle genere was classified and its form as a documental universe for the Information Science. Analysing Plínio Marcos' chronicle, that were produced from 1964 to 1980, it was noticed the mobility of the structure canonisa of the narrative, such as manipulation, competence, performance and sanction. The complexity of the structure showed the difficulty in the development of an analysis'methodology. As a conjecture, it was applied the sense developing way, after dividing a chronicle in episodes. The result was the possibility to analyse the chronicle from the fragmetation of its superstructure and create a way of themes to find the aboutness in the fictional narrative document. / Mestre

We propose a definition of aboutness topicality that not only encompasses individual denoting DPs, but also indefinites. We concentrate on the interpretative effects of marking indefinites as topics: they either receive widest scope in their clause, or they are interpreted in the restrictor of an overt or covert Q-adverb. We show that in the first case they are direct aboutness topics insofar as they are the subject of a predication expressed by the comment, while in the second case they are indirect aboutness topics: they define the subject of a higher-order predication – namely the set of situations that the respective Q-adverb quantifies over.

Parents play an important role in socializing children's emotion understanding. Previous research on parents' conversations with their children shows that parents emphasize different aspects of emotion contexts depending on the emotion depicted. However, there is limited research on how parents and children discuss self-conscious emotions, such as embarrassment, guilt, and shame. The current study explored the socialization of self-conscious emotions in parent-child conversations during a storybook task. One hundred and sixty-six children between the ages of 24 and 36 months were observed reading a storybook with their parent. Analyses of parent-child conversations revealed that while parent and child utterances were highly correlated, only parents differentially discussed different aspects of each self-conscious emotion. Additionally, the frequency of parents' causality and knowledge-based questions directed towards their children differed by self-conscious emotion. Whether parent communication of emotion serves as a framework for child understanding and interpretation of self-conscious emotions will be discussed.

El objeto de esta investigación es analizar la definición del arte propuesta por Arthur Danto y evaluar su validez. Es notable que la propuesta de Danto dependa estrechamente de la aceptación del experimento de los indiscernibles perceptivos. Por ello he analizado la concepción de la percepción implícita en la formulación del experimento y he tratado de caracterizar la validez del experimento teniendo en cuenta las posibles concepciones que son compatibles con el. Asimismo he analizado la noción de "mundo del arte" propuesta por Danto como condición necesaria para el arte y, finalmente, he abordado su definición del arte -que consta de dos condiciones: "ser sobre algo" y "encarnar un significado". La definición resulta insuficiente pues no es obvio que todas las obras sean sobre algo en el mismo sentido ni tampoco que todas "encarnen un significado". / The subject matter of this dissertation is Arthur Danto's art's definition, whose validity I have tried to assess. It is noticeable that Danto's proposal strongly depends upon the acceptance of the experiment of perceptual indiscernible objects that nevertheless have a different ontological status. For this reason, I have analyzed the perceptual view implied by the formulation of the experiment and I have also tried to characterize other compatibles perceptual views that are compatible with the experiment in order to grant its validity. I have analyzed the notion of "artworld" which was put forward by Danto as a necessary condition for art and, finally, I have assessed his art's definition in terms of "aboutness" and "embodiment". This definition is not sufficient to cover all the objects we usually classify as art for it is not at all obvious that every object satisfy them.

Tornou-se necessário efetivar os meios de representação desses textos para fins de recuperação com a etapa sintética da Análise Documental de Conteúdo, por meio do desenvolvendo do produto informacional resumo, contendo elementos do texto importantes e que respondam as necessidades informacionais de usuários potenciais. O problema de pesquisa identificado consistiu em como representar o conteúdo do texto narrativo ficcional infanto-juvenil em resumos, considerando sua estrutura textual e o aboutness proveniente do texto? A hipótese é de que a representação dos textos narrativos ficcionais infanto-juvenis em resumo deve adaptar a estrutura, a temática ou aboutness e os elementos característicos do texto narrativo ficcional para o texto do resumo. A tese consistiu em que os fundamentos teóricos do Percurso Gerativo de Sentido, Semiótica Greimasiana e Teoria da Narrativa contribuíram para subsidiar os elementos macroestruturais e superestruturais importantes a serem usados de modo adaptado nos resumos dos textos narrativos ficcionais infanto-juvenis. A proposição consistiu no estudo dos fundamentos teóricos para elaboração de resumos de textos narrativos ficcionais infanto-juvenis em Análise Documental de Conteúdo, e dos elementos macroestruturais e superestruturais da Linguística Textual, do aboutness proveniente do Percurso Gerativo de Sentido advindo da Análise do Discurso e Semiótica Greimasiana, e dos elementos que caracterizam o texto narrativo ficcional da Teoria da Narrativa. Objetivou-se desenvolver procedimentos de elaboração de resumos de textos narrativos ficcionais infanto-juvenis, no âmbito da Análise Documental de Conteúdo, para fins de representação de seus aspectos estruturais, temáticos ou de aboutness e característicos, entendidos por meio do Percurso Gerativo de Sentido, Semiótica Greimasiana e Teoria da Narrativa. Utilizou-se a metodologia de estudo exploratório, que permitiu analisar diferentes teorias, de diferentes áreas do conhecimento, para o desenvolvimento de procedimentos de elaboração de resumos, a fim de aplicar esses procedimentos em amostra de textos narrativos ficcionais infanto-juvenis. Verificou-se que os procedimentos de elaboração de resumos de textos narrativos ficcionais infanto-juvenis devem considerar a representação segundo os aspectos do conteúdo e estrutura do texto para recuperação da informação, que consistiram em temáticas, personagem, espaço, tempo da história, tipo de narrador, tempo da narrativa e tipos de gêneros literários. A seleção desses elementos textuais norteou os procedimentos de leitura e representação, pois, são procedimentos complementares que têm em comum a utilização dos aspectos importantes da superestrutura e macroestrutura, além do apoio de estratégias metacognitivas. A aplicação dos procedimentos propostos de elaboração de resumos na amostra considerou a adaptação da estrutura e temática dos textos narrativos ficcionais infanto-juvenis para os resumos. Verificou-se ainda que os procedimentos de representação em resumos de textos narrativos ficcionais infanto-juvenis puderam ser desenvolvidos, considerando o embasamento teórico e os procedimentos propostos, respeitando a estrutura e aboutness advindos do texto. / The need to retrieve information of infant-juvenile fictional narrative text led to the development of research that discussed the identification of themes considering aboutness and analytical phase of Documentary Content Analysis. It was necessary to bring about ways of representing those texts for retrieval with the synthetic phase of Documentary Content Analysis, by means of developing the informational product abstract, containing important text elements and answer for information needs of potential users. The problem of the research is how to represent the content of infant-juvenile fictional narrative text in abstracts, considering their textual structure and aboutness from the text? The hypothesis is that the representation of infant-juvenile fictional narrative text in abstract requires adapted structure, theme or aboutness and the characteristic elements of fictional narrative text for the text of the abstract. The thesis considered that the theoretical foundations of the Generative Sense Course, Greimasian Semiotic and Theory of Narrative contributed to subsidize the important macro structural and super structural elements to be used in an adapted way in abstracts of infant-juvenile fictional narrative text. The proposition consisted in the study of theoretical foundations for elaboration of abstracts of infant-juvenile fictional narrative text in Documentary Content Analysis, and macro structural and super structural elements of Text Linguistics, aboutness from the Generative Sense Course, arising from Discourse Analysis and Semiotic Greimasian, and elements that characterize fictional narrative text of the Narrative Theory. The goal was to develop procedures of infant-juvenile fictional narrative text abstracts, in the range of the Documentary Content Analysis for representation of their structural, thematic or aboutness and characteristic aspects, understood through the Generative Sense Course, Greimasian Semiotic and Theory of Narrative. The exploratory study methodology, which allowed analysis of different theories from different knowledge areas, was used to develop procedures for abstracts elaboration, in order to apply these procedures in sample of infant-juvenile fictional narrative text. The elaboration procedures of abstracts for infant-juvenile fictional narrative text should consider the representation according to the aspects of text structure and content for information retrieval of theme, character, story space, story time, narrator, time of narrative and types of literary genres, should also be considered. The selection of these textual elements guided the reading and representation procedures, for they are complementary procedures that have in common the use of the important aspects of the superstructure and macrostructure, besides the support of metacognitive strategies. The application of procedures for elaboration of abstracts in the sample considered the adjustment of structure and theme for these abstracts of infant-juvenile fictional narrative text. Procedures for representation in abstracts for youth fictional narrative text could be developed, considering theoretical basis and proposed procedures, respecting the structure and aboutness following the text. / FAPESP: 2012/24229-4
