Its central theme is the incest prohibition law (EEP) and the familiar complexes (Lacan), whose theoretical assumptions guide this research and allow to make the presence of this law explicit in the human subjectivity and in the social bond. Within this questioning arises the importance of the interface between social assistance and explicitness of the juridical law. It is with social assistance, that certain factors of the affection, such as reliability, security and objectivity can reorder and question the legal functions. Children and young people in the Casa-Lar are liable to witness this transmission as speaking beings. They express with narratives and memories all the subjectivity that establishes the law that really permeates their lives: the law of desire; and which is placed, every day, against the laws of society / Este trabalho questiona a lei, sob a ótica da subjetividade, no universo de crianças e jovens abrigados na Casa-Lar Bela Vista, Vitória, Espírito Santo.

Cultural response to totalitarianism in select movies produced in Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Poland between 1956 and 1989

Robak, Kazimierz 01 June 2009 (has links)
This study examines resistance against totalitarian propaganda in select movies produced in regions subjected to Soviet-imposed totalitarian system. From 1939 to the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, Central-Eastern Europe has experienced two of the most devastating and genocidal political systems in the history of the humankind. Nazism was destroyed with the end of WWII, and met widespread condemnation. Sovietism, commonly known as Communism, survived WWII and the Soviet totalitarian empire rose to the position of the world's second superpower. Effective and organized Soviet propaganda generated a new convincing image of Sovietism as a harmless, friendly and progressive system. In this situation, the extremely important role of maintaining moral consciousness has fallen to the artistic world, specifically film. The scope of my thesis is to explore and analyze the responses to the Soviet totalitarianism in movies produced in European states of the Soviet bloc, between 1956 and 1989. My thesis aims to offer a critical reading of the chosen movies as well as their historical and political conditions. I point out how filmmakers articulated their resistance and analyze it in the context of national culture. The movies I chose to discuss express the reality of everyday life during the Soviet era. Their dissection reflects the mutual influence of history and art in general and in the Soviet bloc in particular. Hence, I offer a reading of the past expressed in the subjective vision of the cinematographic art. Movies not only reflect certain fragments of the reality, they also play an important role in constructing a collective memory. Discussing them from this angle leads to an understanding of the current perception of the past in those countries.

This research is bounded with the Eastern Europe s traditional music done by Bártok, an essential influence to the creation of the composer s musical language. So on, this work begins with a research about the motivations that led Bartók to the peasant music, focusing on the information given by him. This lead to the analysis of folk songs collected by Bartók and his contemporary researchers used as examples by him on his papers, resulting in the finding of tunes composed around an axis of symmetry. In equal measure, such symmetrical formations are found in pieces from others modern composers, mainly those who sought to oppose tonality on their works. It was used musical examples from Stravinsky, Mussorgsky, Berg and Webern, together with others Bartók s works. Although the theory about inversional symmetry is not too recent, with origin on the second part of XX century, most of the analyses are created through methods created by the analyst himself. So, this work directs to a methodological option for the of analysis axes of symmetry, generated with the collecting of used elements from several authors. This work contributes too with the expansion of the axes of symmetry theory by bringing it to the structural level, so that the axes could be symmetrically related to each other. Several symmetrical axés were found on the analysis of Bartók s Third Quartet, a piece considered among his most abstracts works. On this context, the axes of symmetry provide a kind of synthesis of folk music and modern music, that can represent East and West on music / Esta dissertação contém um estudo analítico do Quarteto de Cordas nº 3 de Bela Bartók, a fim de encontrar eixos simétricos que atuam como organizadores das alturas.

(RN), particularly the dynamics of the Bela Vista neighborhood has been established as a new urban centrality. We start from the perspective that the process of urbanization as a result of the transformation of the capitalist system have profound impacts on the restructuring of urban space, which includes resetting and training of new urban centralities. The basic assumption accepts that recent economic changes have led to the adoption of new strategies for the location of large commercial equipment and services, contributing to urban expansion and redefinition of its centrality, leading to the formation of new urban centralities. The research strategy adopted consists of a case study oriented based on the analysis of qualitative information, but also incorporates quantitative information. Interviews with qualified informants were conducted, as well as field surveys, photographic documentation, in order to grasp the phenomenon observed. The survey results show that the Bela Vista neighborhood can be considered a new urban center, housing the specialized trade and service activities, as well as townhouses, which differentiates it from other areas of the city / Esta disserta??o ? resultado de pesquisa que teve como objetivo reconstituir o processo de expans?o recente do espa?o urbano de Mossor? Scare if You Dare: A Look into Scare Acting

Goss, Hana 01 May 2024 (has links) (PDF)
Scare acting has always been the unsung villains of the entertainment industry. For three months of the year, for about five minutes of a haunted house, they get attention. However, the work scare actors do to is way more than just a five second “boo.” Scare actors have been at the beginning of theatre and continue to influence modern entertainment. Even though the patrons may be the ones feeling the danger, scare actors may be even more in danger than them. Each scare actor is unique from their looks to their moves. It might be take a lot of nerve to go into a haunted house, but it takes a lot more to work it.

Expanded tonality in three early piano works of Béla Bartók (1881-1945)

Brukman, Jeffrey James 11 1900 (has links)
Bart6k's own expanded tonal ("supradiatonic") pronouncements reveal that his music, notwithstanding tonally camouflaging surface details, clearly had a tonal foundation which in many respects is a reaction to the emerging atonalism of Schonberg. Analysis of three piano works (1908 - 1916) reveal that Bart6k's tonal language embraced intuitively the expanded tonal idiom. The harmonic resources Bart6k employed to obscure tonicisation embrace double-degree constructions, quartal formations, chords of addition and omission and other irregular constructions. Diatonic tonal pillars are evident in pedal points, tonic triads and dominant to tonic root movement. Through an application of the Riemann function theory expanded by Hartmann's supposition of fully-chromaticised scales tonal syntax (especially secondphase Strauss cadences or closes) becomes apparent within an expanded tonal product. The analyses conclude that Bart6k's inimitable "sound-world" is a twentieth-century manifestation of traditional tonality's primary tenets. / Musicology / M.Mus.

Our main goal is to observe cultural changes in this fairy tale occurred in the Brazilian context. We expect to contribute to Brazilian studies of identity through discourse. The specific goals of this work are: to confront different Brazilian versions of the tale Sleeping Beauty to verify the differences that build the fairy tale; to examine social roles that appear in these versions; focus on cultural values that emerge from these social roles represented by the fairy tale s characters in each version, and, search for traces of the Brazilian people in those values. Each one of these goals depend on different contexts. Our methodological procedure consisted in analyzing the content of each version, by episodes, confronting them. The hypothesis that sustains this research is that fairy tales keep similarities to its original version and at the same time they bring changes related to the representation of cultural values attributed by the society to the characters, their roles and to the actions. This hypothesis showed to be adequate once the analysis of the different versions allowed us to realize Brazilian cultural values with historical background, based on an ecclesiastical discourse, with its moral beliefs that determine the functions of social institutions. It was possible also to observe cultural changes related to the characters characteristics, to their actions, their social roles and the interaction among characters. The analysis results indicate that the differences among the versions are influenced mainly by cultural values of the social and historical context that surround its production. The cultural values are dynamic and their change comes from the need to face new problems daily. The different versions of the fairy tale keep the same characters from the original but they come with different attributes and that gives a new signification to their social roles / Esta Dissertação está situada na área da Análise Crítica do Discurso e trata do exame de diferentes versões (original, traduzida, adaptada e recontada) do conto de fadas A bela adormecida , a fim de verificar as mudanças culturais em contemporaneidades diferentes da dinâmica cultural do brasileiro , de forma a contribuir para os estudos identitários brasileiros a partir do discurso.

The study was carried through in the central region of Cerrado biome, in the state of Goiás, in wetlands situated in the City of Bela Vista de Goiás. There have been selected three wetlands for soil sampling: one conserved wetland, surrounded by natural vegetation (cerrado); one altered area, with occurrence of pasture in its adjacent areas; and another wetland, also altered, with the occurrence of agriculture in its adjacent areas. The samplings were taken in the months of April and May of 2008, through the use of lines of reference, according to their positions in the relief, in upper, average and lower position, following approximately the direction of the line of draining of the wetland. It has been collected samples in three depths: 0-10 cm; 10-20 cm and 20-40 cm. The variables studied have been: texture, pH in CaCl2 0.01 M; micronutrients (Cu, Fe, Mn, Zn and B), macronutrients (P, K, Ca, Mg and S), concentration of Al and potential acidity (H+Al), and soil organic matter content (SOM). It was verified that the clay percentages in the lower region of the relief are higher in altered environments and the percentage of silt are higher in the wetland adjacent to the agricultural area. In lower position of the relief, the concentrations of SOM are lesser in wetlands adjacent to the agricultural areas and pastures. In the conserved wetland the base saturation is higher in lower position of relief and, in this same position, the acidity (pH) and the aluminum concentration is lesser than that in the average and upper positions, occurring the inverse in farming landscapes.
