Barnsjuksköterskans bemötande vid seponerad amning : En kvalitativ intervjustudie om mödrars upplevelser / Pediatric nurse treatment in conjunction with cessation of breastfeeding : A qualitative interview study about mothers experiencesCulum, Natalie, Madeleine, Nilsson January 2021 (has links)
Då så inte alltid var fallet tyder detta på ett behov av utbildning för BHV-sjuksköterskor gällande amning, forskningsfältet i ämnet och hur mödrar bäst vägleds oaktat sin önskan gällande amningen / Background: Previous studies have shown that mothers experience bad treatment from their pediatric nurse when they have chosen to give breastmilk formula to their child instead of breastfeeding. Studies about breastfeeding from Sweden exist, but it seems to be few that relates to the role of the pediatric nurse. Aim: The aim of the study is to illustrate mothers' experiences with pediatric nurse treatment in conjunction with ceased breastfeeding within six months postpartum. Method: The study has a Qualitative design where the data consists of semi structured interviews with fourteen mothers who for various reasons stopped breastfeeding within six months postpartum. These were analysed with the method for qualitative content analysis. Result: The analysis resulted in four main categories; Sense of Support, Sense of unbalance of power, Sense of compliance and Sense of paying attention to varying needs with ten associated subcategories. Conclusion: The results show that mothers want the pediatric nurse to be sensitive to their wishes with breastfeeding, either if the goal is to discontinue or to have it work well. Furthermore, the mothers wish to be treated in a supportive way based on her and the child's individual needs and with evidence-based competence. As this was not always the case, this indicates a need for further training for pediatric nurses regarding breastfeeding, the field of research and how mothers wishes are advised regarding breastfeeding.

Signs of Life: Rediscovering Nineteenth Century Indian Key through Glass AnalysisSykes, Alexis Broadbent 22 October 2003 (has links)
Archaeological investigations of Indian Key Historic State Park in the Florida Keys have uncovered a wide range of historical artifacts from throughout the nineteenth century that reveal how the site was reused and reoccupied through time. This thesis focuses on the glass component recovered from a house cistern complex (Feature F) and a warehouse (Features A and C) during the 1998 to 2002 field seasons. Glass artifacts range from a variety of bottle glass including alcohol bottles and proprietary medicines, to cut glass such as tumblers and decanters, to window glass.
Feature F's analysis has shown that it maintained a primarily domestic nature despite having been reused by different groups at different times. Glass recovered from Feature F was primarily alcohol bottles, but large numbers of food bottles, medicines, and window glass was also found. The warehouse was used commercially and appears to have been continuously reused. The most abundant item recovered from the warehouse was window glass; however large quantities of alcohol bottle fragments were also recovered.
Also included in the glass analysis is a study of window glass dating techniques using glass thickness. By using a formula originally developed by Randall Moir (1982), and following an example set by Grant L. Day (2001), I was able to illustrate a process for dating nineteenth century window glass that is fairly accurate for determining periods of transition, addition, and reconstruction to buildings occupied over long time periods.
Comparison of the glass from these two features using window glass dating formulas and other comparative evaluations as well as dating and functional analysis is revealing useful information about each of these structures individually, as well as about activity on the island as a whole.

Effects of Developmental Low-Level Lead Exposure on Voluntary Alcohol Consumption and Drug-Induced Behavioral Sensitization in AdulthoodHernández, Maribel 12 1900 (has links)
Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) / Lead (Pb) is one of the most harmful and most abundant neurotoxins in the environment. Despite the extensive movement made to eradicate toxic levels of Pb in the environment, children, predominately in lower socioeconomic areas, are still exposed to varying levels of Pb. Human studies suggest that Pb exposure leads to altered drug consumption in adults by altering underlying neural mechanisms, specifically dopamine (DA) activity. However, there is limited research on this at blood Pb levels below 10 μg/dL, levels often seen in children growing up in neighborhoods located in old industrial and urban areas. To model how early-life low-level Pb exposure effects DA-dependent behaviors associated with addiction in adulthood, we used C57BL/6J mice. Litters were weaned at PND 21 and assigned to either a three-week history of 30 parts per million (ppm) Lead (IV) Acetate exposure or a control condition of 0 ppm Pb in DI drinking water. After the Pb exposure period, mice were switched to regular tap water until they reached adulthood. Afterward, separate animals were tested in one of three experiments: two-bottle choice alcohol preference drinking, alcohol-induced behavioral sensitization (EBS), and cocaine-induced behavioral sensitization (CBS). In experiment 1, our hypothesis was met, and both male and female mice with a prior Pb exposure displayed significantly higher alcohol intake and preference scores over the three-week period than control mice. In experiment 2, there were no differences in EBS and no evidence of EBS in any of the groups. However, there was an increased acute response to 2.0 g/kg EtOH in the Pb-exposed chronic group as compared to the control animals. Lastly, in experiment 3, Pb-exposed animals in the chronic cocaine group were more sensitive to the effects of cocaine (10 mg/kg) across days than the controls, both the acute cocaine groups and both saline control groups. Thus, with these experiments, we concluded that low levels of developmental Pb exposure might be targeting DA in the reward pathway, which is essential for alcohol intake and drug sensitization.

Comparison of the Dissemination and Implementation of Standardized Public Health Nursing Competencies in Academic and Practice SettingsOppewal, Sonda, Lamanna, Beth F., Glenn, L. Lee 01 March 2006 (has links)
Objectives: To assess the use of the “Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals” standards in practice and academic work settings by public health nurses (PHNs), and to determine differences between practitioners and faculty.
Design: Nonexperimental, descriptive study using a cross‐sectional survey.
Sample: Three public health nursing (PHN) organizations sent invitations to all members. A total of 334 (18.7%) from an estimated 1,786 members completed the survey.
Measurements: The investigators developed a 17‐item web‐based survey with open‐ and closed‐ended responses, using Rogers' diffusion of innovations as a theoretical framework.
Results: Respondents are equally familiar with the competencies for public health professionals disseminated by the Council on Linkages and for PHNs by the Quad Council of Public Health Nursing Organizations (Quad Council). Two thirds of PHNs are aware of the competencies after only 2 years, primarily from professional PHN organizations. Faculty are adopting and using the competencies at a significantly faster rate than practitioners.
Conclusions: Faculty and practitioners who use the competencies value them, and rarely discontinued their use after adoption. Efforts to promote diffusion among faculty and especially practitioners need to continue. Professional organizations can actively provide and share examples of useable formats and best practices associated with the competencies.

[en] The growth of the container s market and the search of terminals
for the improvement in their port processes has gotten the attention of the
scientific area. With focus on simulation studies, the present work aims to
model and simulate a logistic system of a port terminal, whose specialization
is the containers movements. Six scenarios have been developed in
order to assess the resources needed to handle a specific volume of
containers by a unit of time. The model is built in the software ARENA and
the analysis of results was performed through common indicators in
container terminals. These indicators were analyzed for each of the
scenarios developed and finally evaluated the installed capacity for each
of the scenarios. For de model validation were built two scenarios and for
the other four sceanrios assessed how the resources of three berths for
ships, 6 ship to shore, 6 rubber tyred gantry, 11 reach stackers, 26 trucks,
4 gates, 1 scanner and 30 inspection slots behaves with 440.000
container/year and 660.000 container/year.
