ABSTRACT This thesis is focused on the description of the current marriage in the district town of Zdar nad Sazavou. The thesis is a methodology of field research, where I describe the basic information on how to collect information in the field. This work incorporates two general chapters on marriage. One is about how it is legally defined marriage in the Czech Republic, and the second deals with the status of marriage in human life. An integral part of this thesis is also crucial appreciation of literature and sources and historical development and current form Zdarsky whole region. In this thesis the main chapters are solved on three: the bridal, wedding day and the next day after the wedding. Each chapter has several requirements under subchapters. Contemporary wedding in the district town Zdar nad Sazavou is the traditional model compares the captured in the 19th and 20th century. Tabloidization in the Modern American Press: A Textual Analysis and Assessment of Newspaper and Tabloid Coverage of the “Runaway Bride” Case

The media have extensive power in that they represent the primary, and often the only, source of information about many important events and topics. Media can define which events are important, as well as how media consumers should understand these events. The current trend towards tabloidization, or sensationalism, in today’s American media, has caused an uproar among media traditionalists, primarily in the fields of news and print media. This study seeks to examine the actual influence of tabloidization in newspaper media. My primary research question is as follows: Do tabloid newspapers in the United States set the agenda for more mainstream newspapers? An ethnographic textual analysis will be done of tabloid and newspaper coverage of a recent nationwide story about an Atlanta-area woman running away from town days before her wedding, the “Runaway Bride” saga, in order to compare how the story was covered in tabloid and mainstream newspapers.

The subject of this research paper about child brides who married under 18 years old , forced and arranged by families. I examine number of child brides in global area and how this old tradition is still keeps going on and. It can see every part of the world and it is not belongs any religion. İt can see Christianity, Muslim, Hinduism religions. The main objective of thesis try to do more visible this old practice. In my research paper I analyse t communities who still using this old tradition and reasons and solutions of this practice. Also, I examine child brides problems before and after marriage. I inspire from this research paper on my art works. I try to express it with my ceramic and painting works. I use different kind of materials like a ceramic, fabric, old papers, leather, henna.. My purpose display child brides problems more visible. I express in my works child brides age are not for marry, having a child, doing house works. Such a young ages are for playing games, going to school and having fun. Further more, I display problems, mental diseases, traumas of child brides before and after marriage. Hearing the voices of Filipino women: violence, media representation and contested realities

Research Doctorate - Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) / This thesis is a feminist exploration of how violence against Filipino women in Australia is represented in the Australian and Philippine media and the relationship between the women’s lives and media images of their abuse. It is fundamentally concerned with the problem of the absent and silenced voices of Filipino women in media portrayals of violence. It aims at creating a space in which the women’s stories can be told. Based on interview data and discourse analysis of Australian and Philippine newspaper articles, the study investigates how the homicides and disappearance of seven Filipino women are represented. Case studies drawn from interviews with family members and friends of these women comprise the core of the study. An exploration of additional articles and interviews further reinforces the issues and themes that emerge in the case studies. The case studies contextualise the women’s experiences. Analysing media images in light of the interviews reinstates the absent and silenced voice in media accounts of violence. By charting the lives of these seven women, their hopes and aspirations as well as the pain and fear they suffered at the hands of abusive male partners, the case studies illuminate the way media accounts have largely misrepresented their experiences. Many of the Australian articles, in particular, bore little resemblance to the women’s lived realities. Juxtaposing Australian with Philippine portrayals further illuminates the racism and sexism of a large section of the Australian print media. A major theme to emerge out of this study is that the relationship between media image and actual violence also involves struggle and conflict over constructions of identity. It is a site of contested realities. Most of the articles analysed in this study failed to tell the story from the deceased woman’s perspective. It is argued that to hear these women's voices, journalists need to move beyond using sexist, racist and class-based stereotypes, such as mail order bride, to describe Filipino women or explain their abuse. It also means accounting for the history of domestic violence that was a large part of their lives.

Rembrandt van Rijn's <em>Jewish Bride</em>: Depicting Female Power in the Dutch Republic Through the Notion of Nation Building

Many art historians have debated the identity of the couple in Rembrandt's the Jewish Bride (1667). The painting is most often identified as an Old Testament theme. This is due to the seventeenth-century Dutch practice of using biblical "types" as ideal models for the structuring of the new republic founded on the Israelite ideology of nation building. Three of these biblical female types that have been separately associated with the female figure in the Jewish Bride are, Rebecca, Ruth, and Esther. As these biblical women represented different notions of power through their respective narratives, this thesis argues that Rembrandt deliberately left the identity of the female figure ambiguous so that all three types could be referenced by viewers. Consequently, these powerful female prototypes provided significant role models for the women of the Dutch Republic as they strived to carve out similarly strong positions for themselves in this new society.

However, she was essential to assure the colonists’ stay in the land to be pioneered. Many of the settlers had the feminine presence as an anchor to strengthen their stay in the “New World”. After the wedding ceremony, the woman was responsible for taking care of the house, being a good wife and an excellent mother, according to the ideology imposed by Church, which corroborated the patriarchal vision of the colonizing metropolis prevailing that time. Starting from this historical situation, the present research proposes reflexions and analyses about the insertion theme of the white European woman in the “New World”. Our purpose is to present, throughout an analysis of the books Desmundo (1996), by Ana Miranda, and Bride of New France (2013), by Suzanne Desrochers, how each one builds a symbolic representation of this process of displacement, strangeness and adaptation to a new reality of the white European woman in the beginning of the Brazilian colonization period, in the sixteenth century, and of the Canadian, in the seventeenth century, respectively, under the auspices of the historical novel. We also aim to analyze if the leading characters, Oribela de Mendo Curvo and Laure Beauséjour, keep their received instruction by the institutions that housed them or if their conceptions change when they start living in the “New World”, and to verify the confrontation of these literary visions with the official discourse. Based on this, we aim to show how the voices of the “orphans of the queen”, from Portugal, and the “king’s daughters”, from France, reflected in the literary discourse, can differ from the historiographic discourse and reveal new perspectives from this past. The research we did was supported by Comparative Literature. Authors like Afonso Costa (1946), Rodolfo Garcia (1946), Jim Sharpe (1992), Gilmei Francisco Fleck (2007, 2011, 2014, 2017), Aimie K. Runyan (2010), and Marcia A. Zug (2016) are used as theoretical support for the historical contextualization of the facts reread by fiction, and to establish the specific modalities of the historical novel in which the corpus is inserted. As a result of this investigational procedure, this research sheds light on the historical vision about the white European woman insertion in our continent. When highlighting the woman’s participation in this historical process, we observed the hybrid narratives of history and fiction update the theme and present a critical rereading of the events in relation to the happenings of the past perpetrated by the writing of historiography. / Desde o princípio dos registros sobre a colonização das Américas, a mulher foi considerada inferior e submissa ao homem pela visão judaico-cristã e eurofalocêntrica presente no discurso historiográfico que consignou a versão oficial desse passado. Entretanto, ela foi agente fundamental para assegurar a permanência dos colonizadores no território a ser desbravado. Muitos dos “conquistadores” tiveram a presença feminina como âncora para fortalecer sua permanência no “Novo Mundo”. Após o casamento, à mulher cabia cuidar do lar, ser boa esposa e ótima mãe, segundo a ideologia imposta pela Igreja, a qual corroborava a visão patriarcal das metrópoles colonizadoras reinantes na época. A partir dessa conjuntura histórica, a presente pesquisa propõe reflexões e análises acerca do tema da inserção da mulher europeia no “Novo Mundo”. Nosso objetivo é apresentar, por meio da análise das obras Desmundo (1996), de Ana Miranda, e Bride of New France (2013), de Suzanne Desrochers, como cada obra constrói uma representação simbólica desse processo de deslocamento, estranhamento e adaptação a uma nova realidade da mulher branca europeia no início da colonização brasileira, no século XVI, e na canadense, no século XVII, respectivamente, sob a égide do romance histórico. Propomo-nos, também, a analisar se as personagens protagonistas, Oribela do Mendo Curvo e Laure Beauséjour, mantém a instrução recebida pelas instituições que as abrigavam ou se suas concepções se transformam quando passam a viver no “Novo Mundo”; bem como verificar os enfrentamentos dessas visões literárias com o discurso oficial. Nesse intento, buscamos mostrar como as vozes das “órfãs da rainha”, de Portugal, e as “filhas do rei”, da França, refletidas no discurso literário, podem divergir do discurso historiográfico e revelar novas perspectivas desse passado. A pesquisa que realizamos amparou-se na Literatura Comparada. Autores como Afonso Costa (1946), Rodolfo Garcia (1946), Jim Sharpe (1992), Gilmei Francisco Fleck (2007, 2011, 2014, 2017), Aimie K. Runyan (2010), e Marcia A. Zug (2016) são utilizados como aporte teórico para a contextualização histórica dos fatos relidos pela ficção e para estabelecer as especificidades da modalidade do romance histórico na qual as obras do corpus se inserem. Como resultado deste processo de investigação, esta pesquisa lança luz sobre a visão da história a respeito da inserção da mulher branca europeia em nosso continente. Ao colocar em evidência a participação da mulher nesse processo histórico, observamos que as narrativas híbridas de história e ficção reatualizam o tema e apresentam uma releitura crítica dos eventos em relação aos acontecimentos do passado perpetrados pela escrita da historiografia.
