The objective is to analyze which is the relationship of the publications with the reader. The research is justified because it will raise the discussion about the function of the letters from readers and their potential in a vehicle of communication. The research methodology includes theories of argumentation, speech analysis and resources that involve numerical tables and graphics. Infelizmente, como muito tempo se passou sem que houvesse uma preocupação em preservar o material nele apresentado, as fontes primárias de nosso estudo estavam dispersas e pouco acessíveis, demandando um esforço redobrado de busca e organização. Isso realçou a importância de um estudo cujo foco estivesse centrado na sistematização e análise dos projetos apresentados. Inicialmente, abordamos o contexto do concurso, suas exigências, seus organizadores, os jurados e os resultados. Em seguida sistematizamos as informações de cada plano piloto, partindo da identificação por meio de sua classificação, equipe, documentos disponíveis, iconografia e referências bibliográficas. Como desdobramento, elaboramos uma introdução onde destacamos particularidades e principais obras dos participantes da equipe, entrevista, relação dos planos com o edital e as teorias urbanas vigentes e, finalmente, comentários dos principais pontos do memorial descritivo. Para a investigação, foram selecionadas 35 cartas publicadas em um jornal de grande circulação entre os anos de 2011 e 2013. As cartas de aconselhamento foram analisadas à luz de pressupostos teóricos da Teoria de Gêneros e da Linguística Cognitiva. Da Teoria de Gêneros (BAKHTIN, 1992, [1953], SWALES, 1990), foram recrutadas as conceituações de gêneros textuais como “carta”, “carta do leitor” e “carta de aconselhamento”, considerados, primordialmente, em seus propósitos comunicativos. Os principais construtos teóricos da Linguística Cognitiva acionados para este trabalho foram noções como a de frames (FILLMORE, 1982), a de nicho metafórico (VEREZA, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2013), a da metáfora, dentro de uma perspectiva cognitiva (LAKOFF e JOHNSON, 1980, [2002]), além de construções retóricas como parábolas e analogias. Essa abordagem visou estabelecer associações entre os níveis linguístico-textual e cognitivo-discursivo de textos cujo propósito comunicativo inclui o ato diretivo implícito e recuperável apenas por meio do acionamento cognitivo dos reenquadramentos propostos. Essa visão se insere nas novas tendências dos estudos sociocognitivistas, que privilegiam a interface entre cognição e discurso (SEMINO, 2008; CAMERON, 2009, 2012, 2013; VEREZA, 2007, 2012, 2013, entre outros). A análise, que foi desenvolvida com base nos reenquadramentos, ou macromapeamentos propostos, revelou o importante papel dessas estratégias na dimensão retórico/discursiva do gênero em foco. / This research focused on investigating the rhetorical-discursive strategy in counselling letters named in this work cognitive-discursive “reframings”. For the research, thirty-five letters, which had been published in a well-known newspaper, between the years 2011 and 2013, were selected. The counselling letters were analyzed according to the theoretical views of The Generic Theory (BAKHTIN, 1992, [1953], SWALES, 1990) and those of Cognitive Linguistics. The Generic Theory contributed with concepts such as textual genres, like “letter”, “letters from the readers” and “counselling letters”, taking primarily into account their communicative purposes. The main theoretical constructs from Cognitive Linguistics recruited for the research were the notions of frames (FILLMORE, 1982), frames online and off-line (VEREZA, 2013), metaphor niches (VEREZA, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2013), besides the cognitivist view of metaphor as a figure of thought (LAKOFF and JOHNSON, 1980, [2002]) and rhetorical constructs such as parables and analogies. This approach aimed at establishing associations between the linguistic-textual and the cognitive-discursive levels of texts with a communicative purpose that includes the implicit directive act, retrieved only through the cognitive activation of the already cited “reframing”. This approach follows the new trends in cognitivist studies (SEMINO, 2008; CAMERON, 2009, 2012, 2013; VEREZA, 2007, 2012, 2013, among others), especially the ones which stand for the dialogue between cognition and discourse. Besides that, it aims at contributing with other research, not only in the cognitive and discursive areas, but also with those about reading and genres.

Por conta da distância tanto física quanto cultural, no período imediatamente posterior à Segunda Guerra, Beauvoir e Algren se descobriram sobretudo através da troca epistolar. As cartas, então, ocupam o lugar da falta do outro. De modo que, para se revelar e despertar o interesse do amado, a autora utiliza algumas estratégias de convencimento, como, por exemplo, a maneira de se mostrar dependente ou, ainda, o tom altamente passional que perpassa algumas das missivas. Entretanto, a dependência declarada não ultrapassa o plano da escrita para a realidade, já que ela não abandona definitivamente sua vida em Paris para viver em Chicago, se recusando, pois, a encarcerar sua singularidade nos modelos de um casamento tradicional. / In this paper, starting from the 304 letters written by Simone de Beauvoir to the American writer Nelson Algren, we investigate the apparent hiatus distancing the submissive and dependent woman who passionately declares herself to her interlocutor and the thinker who positions herself publicly in favour of individual freedoms. Due to both physical and cultural distance, in the immediate aftermath of World War II, Beauvoir and Algren discovered themselves mainly through exchanging letters. These letters, then, take the place of the absence of the other. So, to reveal herself and arouse the interest of her beloved, the author uses some strategies of persuasion, for example, the way to show dependence or even a highly passionate tone revealed in some of the missives. However, this declared dependence does not exceed from writing to the reality, since she does not definitively abandons her life in Paris to live in Chicago, refusing, therefore, to incarcerate her uniqueness in the models of a traditional marriage.

Orientador: Yllan de Mattos Oliveira / Resumo: A presente Dissertação tem em seu cerne os resultados da pesquisa em que cujo tema desenvolvido foi o da escrita renascentista feminina italiana no século XVI, em que nos embasamos nas obras poético-epistolares de duas mulheres homônimas, Veronica Gambara (1485 - 1550) e Veronica Franco (1546 - 1591). Nossas fontes foram as Terze Rime (1575), as Lettere Familiari a Diversi (1580) de Veronica Franco, as Rime de Veronica Gambara e suas Lettere. O ponto basilar que se faz presente na investigação é o de como ocorreram as construções linguísticas, o jogo de palavras, de cortesia (característica da arte cortesã), ou seja, como foram construídas as composições das obras. Tanto as poesias quanto as cartas eram pensadas por suas autoras com uma intencionalidade. As poetisas estiveram inseridas em um jogo cortesão. Portanto, investigamos as nuances existentes, encontradas nas obras e os contornos sociais pertinentes à época que nortearam a escrita das duas mulheres pesquisadas. / Abstract: The present Dissertation has at its heart the results of the research in which the theme developed was the Italian female Renaissance writing in the 16th century, which is based on the poetic-epistolary works of two homonymous women, Veronica Gambara (1485 - 1550) and Veronica Franco (1546 - 1591). Our sources were Terze Rime (1575), Veronica Franco's Lettere Familiari a Diversi (1580), Veronica Gambara's Rime and her Lettere. The basic point that is present in the investigation is how the linguistic constructions, the courtesy wordplay (characteristic of courtly art) occurred, that is, how the compositions of the works were constructed. Both poetry and letters were intended by their authors with intent. The poets were inserted in a courtier game. Therefore, we investigate the existing nuances found in the works and the social contours pertinent to the time that guided the writing of the two women surveyed. / Mestre

Este estudio examina la teoría de la imagen-tiempo de Gilles Deleuze tal como queda representada en Los adioses (2017), con el propósito de plantear la eterna recurrencia del pasado en la vida de la escritora mexicana Rosario Castellanos (1925-1974). Además, explora las diferentes técnicas de imagen-tiempo que utiliza Beristáin tales como la yuxtaposición entre las temporalidades del pasado, presente y futuro que conforman las respectivas memorias del pasado y que, al ser combinadas con las vivencias del presente, representan una culminación de experiencias que permiten una nueva perspectiva del pasado. Con cada nueva perspectiva se presenta una dinámica representación de emociones y sensaciones que causan un choque afectivo y por ende hacen manifiesto el constante cambio a la otredad de la escritora.

Between 1440 and 1550, a genre known as sentimental romance flourished in Spain. Although the genre's works were in many ways varied, they all follow a recognizable model - in particular, a plot pattern that can be described as follows: A young man falls in love with a damsel who, after initially rejecting him, eventually reciprocates his affection. At some point, their mutual love becomes known and outside forces step in to thwart their passion and leave the would-be lovers heartbroken. The last two works of this genre, Processo de cartas de amores and Quexa y aviso contra amor, were written by Juan de Segura and first published in 1548. I have studied and compared the four editions published in the sixteenth century and prepared the first critical edition of both works with the intention of making them accessible to a broader audience of scholars and students. The edition is accompanied by detailed linguistic, historical, and literary notes, including discussions on the use of mythological figures in both texts and references to other literary works that may have influenced the author. I have also prepared a critical apparatus in which I collect all the linguistic variants found in the four editions, and provide additional commentary and context to explain decisions made in my edition, including explanations of the difficulties inherent in the printing process at the time. In the introduction, I provide a comprehensive study of the historical and literary contexts in which the narrations were composed, and a review of what we know about Segura's biography as well as the subjects that have received attention from modern literary scholars. I discuss a remarkable act of self-censorship by the editors of one of the sixteenth century editions, a topic undocumented until now. I also identify important textual sources that Segura employed, such as the poetry of Juan de Mena and Juan del Encina, and the work of Hernán Núñez de Toledo. Finally, I situate Processo de cartas de amores and Quexa y aviso contra amor within the genre of sentimental romance, to show their innovation and to explore their relationship to the byzantine and chivalric genres.

Para isso, observa-se o emprego das preposições a, até, em e para nas cartas das revistas brasileiras NOVA e Men's Heatlh e das revistas portuguesas Cosmopolitan e Men's Health. Desenvolve-se um estudo descritivo-comparativo entre o português brasileiro (PB) e o português europeu (PE), fundamentado nos pressupostos teórico-metodológicos da Teoria da Variação e Mudança Linguísticas (WEINREICH, LABOV, HERZOG, 1968; LABOV 1972, 1994, 2001), e em conceitos relativos a estilo (BIBER e CONRAD, 2009, ECKERT, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2008, 2016; IRVINE, 2001; LABOV, 2001a; PODESVA, 2007a, 2007b, 2011; OCHS, 1992), sexo/gênero (BUTLER, 2016; FREITAG, 2015; MENDES, 2011, 2012, 2018), identidade (BATTISTI, 2014; MENDOZA-DENTON, 2003; WOODWARD, 2014), normas linguísticas (COSERIU, 1979[1952]; BAGNO, 2003, 2011, 2012; FARACO, 2008, 2011, 2012) e gênero textual (BAKHTIN,1995, 2003; MARCUSCHI, 2002, 2007; BAZERMAN, 2007 e MARINE, 2009). For this, the use of prepositions a, até, em and para in the letters of the Brazilian magazines NOVA and Men's Health and in the Portuguese magazines Cosmopolitan and Men's Health is observed. [pt] Este estudo toma por objeto as cartas escritas por Samuel Beckett entre 1929 e 1940. Examina particularmente as suas significantes reflexões e inflexões sobre a linguagem, explorando certos temas que ali se destacam: escrita, língua, gramática, estilo, clichê, entre outros. Detendo-nos na década que testemunhou seu desabrochar como escritor e artista, refletimos sobre as formas como essas questões de linguagem se entretecem com motivos beckettianos clássicos, tais como a imobilidade, a impossibilidade, a doença e o impasse. Parte-se de uma perspectiva da linguagem como práxis, em viés pós-estruturalista, mas busca-se tomar como norte do estudo os termos do próprio Beckett, sobretudo aqueles que ganham expressão em sua mais famosa e rica carta do período – a Carta Alemã de 1937. Entre as imagens extraídas dessa carta que guiam o estudo do restante da correspondência, estão a do véu da língua materna, a da sacra (des)natureza da palavra, a da floresta de símbolos, com seus pássaros nunca silentes, a do ataque às palavras em nome da beleza, a do pecado involuntário contra uma língua estrangeira. Dessas e com essas metáforas, vemos surgir, inseparáveis, a ideia e a práxis de uma escrita rompida, deslocada, pilar da Liga Logoclasta da qual Beckett é fundador e fervoroso entusiasta. / [en] The present study is based on the letters written by Samuel Beckett between 1929 and 1940. It examines in particular his significant thoughts and consequent implications on language, exploring certain subjects that arise therefrom: writing, Grammar, style, cliché, among others. Having chosen to limit our study to the decade that witnessed his blossoming as a writer and artist, we consider the forms through which the previously mentioned language matters are connected to classical beckettian motives, such as, immobility, impossibility, sickness and impasse. Following a perspective that assumes language as praxis, from a post-structuralist point of view, we elect Beckett’s own terms, especially those that gained expression in his richest and most famous letter of the period – the 1937 German Letter –, as our central pillar. Among the images extracted from this letter guiding the study of the remainder of his correspondence are: the native s language veil, the sacred unnature of the word, the forest of symbols and its never silent birds of interpretation, the word-storming in the name of beauty and the involuntary violation against a foreign language. From and with these metaphors we see rising inseparably the idea and praxis of a ruptured, a displaced writing which is also the foundation for the Logoclast s League, of which entity Beckett is the founder member and most fervent enthusiast.
