Housing in the city, in the Plaines du Loup district of Lausanne in Switzerland. The clear goal of the assignment adds a primary school as another point of solution, considering the school as an extension of housing. Furthermore, the assignment is extended by the design of the neighboring park. The project deals with the design of a city block, based on the relationship between school, housing and public space. The project is based on an urban study by Tribu architects, ranging from a comprehensive urban concept to the architectural design of a school and apartment buildings. The effort to create a pleasant living environment is intertwined with all parts of the project.

Powering the Future : Electric Vehicle Charging Needs and Infrastructure in Uppsala’s Southeast District

Uppsala Municipality is planning to build the southeast city district (SÖS), aiming to achieve climate neutrality by 2030 and climate positivity by 2050. In this thesis, the integration of electric vehicles (EVs) and charging infrastructure was investigated. It also examined the power demand, and the potential of photovoltaic (PV) production in combination with a battery storage system in SÖS, and its ability to reduce power peaks. The study was delimited to only incorporating charging demand in mobility houses, not from the private parking spots, as well as excluding alternative fossil-free vehicle options. Utilizing a stochastic model and data from Copenhagen and Stockholm, using trends for car pools and EV ratio, two scenarios were designed to forecast the spread of EVs and their impact on the power grid in SÖS by 2050. Since SÖS consists of both residential housing and workplaces, three different simulations were created to take their differences in mobility pattern into account. The two scenarios generated a different number of EVs, which resulted in a varied amount of charging points. Furthermore, the difference in EVs and mobility patterns showed different values of power demands and power peaks. PV panels combined with a battery storage system were able to both reduce the daily power demand, as well as the power peaks. For the sensitivity analysis, different sizes of the battery storage were examined. Finally, this report presents guidance for how to manage the challenges with an increased power demand from the more extensive use of EVs.

This thesis is solving the design of a sustainable urban structure of the 21st century in Brno, in the area of Kasárna in Černá pole. The thesis is trying to create a neighborhood that would serve not only to the needs of the millennials, but of every generation. It is trying to build a city for the people. I am designing the new development as a lively, diverse and flexible neighborhood which considers the history of the area. I am conserving its rectangular shape in the urban footprint. I am designing a city with clearly defined public spaces. I am opening the neighborhood to the public and therefor allow it to newly connect with neighboring districts. The goal of the design is to create a modern neighborhood that will function as a new subcenter of the city of Brno.

Návrh sídelní struktury soudobého města v historickém kontextu. / Design of settlement structure of contemporary city in historical context.

The topic of this master‘s thesis was to create a settlement structure on the territory of the cadastral territory of the town of Náměšť nad Oslavou. Specifically in the southwestern part of the town, in the places of today's agricultural areas. The main goal of the thesis is to create a quality residential structure for the entire area, which will connect to the surrounding development, to create a center with urban amenities for this newly designed neighborhood. A key aspect of the design is the transport connection to the existing road network of the city and overcoming the barrier formed by the railway line. The proposed development responds to the current and future anticipated needs of the city. Taking into account the size, the proposed area is divided into three parts with regard to the time sequence and the nature of the development. From an urban point of view, the first phase builds on the existing network of streets and creates a transition between the original and the proposed development and proposes transport connections to the area. In the second and third phase, the remaining area of the proposed area is resolved, by a system of regular streets designed in places with a small slope of the terrain, connected by short streets with a higher slope. The master‘s thesis addresses the connection between the city and greenery, increases the attractiveness of the area by designing public facilities and services and works with visual axes from the existing housing and commercial development to the proposed location.

Denna rapport behandlar utvärdering av urbana ekosystemtjänster på stadsdelsnivå. Eftersom ökad urbanisering leder till ökad belastning på urbana ekosystem är det viktigt att både exploatering och etablering av grönområden sker på ett hållbart sätt där ekologiska, sociala och ekonomiska faktorer inkluderas. Detta kan delvis uppnås genom att villkor i verktyg och certifieringssystem inkluderar aspekter för urbana ekosystemtjänster. Det undersökts hur certifieringssystemen BREEAM Communities och CASBEE for Urban Development samt verktyget Grönytefaktormetoden behandlar sådana urbana ekosystemtjänster. Analysen utgår från en föreslagen kategorisering av urbana ekosystemtjänster. Detta kompletteras med ett eget ramverk som utvidgar och förtydligar otillräckligt hanterade ekosystemtjänster och närliggande aspekter. Resultatet visar att ytterligare ekosystemtjänster kan inkluderas i de undersökta metoderna och en kategorisering av urbana ekosystemtjänster förslås. / This report discusses assessment of urban ecosystems services in the scale of city districts. Since intensified urbanisation increases the pressure on urban ecosystems it is of importance that development projects in green areas is sustainable with inclusion of ecological, social and economic aspects. This can in part be achieved through requirements in tools and certification systems that include aspects for urban ecosystem services. An investigation of how the certification systems BREEAM Communities and CASBEE for Urban Development as well as the tool Grönytefaktormetoden deal with such urban ecosystem services is made. The analysis is based on a suggested categorisation of urban ecosystem services. This is complemented by an own framework that expands and clarifies insufficiently treated ecosystem services and adjacent aspects. The result shows that further ecosystem services can be included in the investigated methods and a categorisation of urban ecosystems services is suggested.

The thesis is focused on changes in legislation in the field of lotteries and their impact on the budgets of selected municipalities. The gaming industry is a specific part of the economy which is connected with the unique taxation system. Since 2012, a new taxation system has been applied - it has consequences on public budgets. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate these changes and to qualify their impact on the amount and the structure of income from gambling in selected Prague city districts. The development of income from gambling is strongly influenced by city districts' attitude towards gambling. In city districts with zero tolerance of gambling, income from gambling dropped. On the contrary, city districts with high concentration of gambling increased their income. Due to existence of the Capital City of Prague, the position of city districts is different in comparison with the other cities and villages.

The diploma thesis entitled " The Issue of the Necessity of Social housing of the Prague 2 Municipal District" deals with the definitions, possibilities and principles of social housing in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the phenomenon of housing and housing policy in the conditions of the Czech Republic in connection with the current problems of housing affordability for socially needy citizens. He also mentions the possibilities of support in the field of housing and the overall setting of psychosocial networks. An equally important part of the diploma thesis is the mapping of the issue of social housing in the City of Prague 2 using competency documents. The practical part of the thesis maps the reflections of social workers of the Office of the City District of Prague 2 on the issue of social housing in the Czech Republic and in the City district of Prague 2, in order to change the limits of availability of social housing in the City district. Posouzení výhodnosti koupě bytové jednotky v lokalitě Brno Kociánka a Sadová / Assessing the Advantages of Buying a Housing Unit in Brno Kociánka and Sadová

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of sale/lease of an apartment in the Královo Pole district cadastral area of Sadová. The main objective of the work was to find out the selling/rental price of the apartment unit in the new building, available 2+kk with standard equipment in Sadová. The price calculation was performed according to statutory regulations, standards and coefficients. At the same time, the price and quality levels of the offered housing units in the surrounding Brno localities were monitored and compared. The secondary objectives of the diploma thesis were the analysis of the housing market in Brno and its description including the preferences for the selection of the housing unit. The market indices used were used for the valuation of the dwelling unit and the price of the land included in the dwelling unit was included in the resulting price. The award was made by cost and comparison method. Sales/ rental pricing calculations were verified through direct comparison and Grubbs test. The rental method used to measure sales/rentals was used to determine the usual rent. In the last chapter of the analytical section, an appropriate procedure for purchasing a new dwelling unit was proposed.
