Coach-atletrelationen på riksidrottsgymnasier : En undersökning av elevernas uppfattning om relationen till sin coach

Wennberg, Johan January 2023 (has links)

Perceived Leadership Practices of Principals-Coaches and Principals-Noncoaches.

Tipton, Tony Edward 14 August 2007 (has links) (PDF)
The purpose of this study was to compare the perceptions of self-reported leadership practices using the Kouzes and Posner Leadership Practices Inventory between high school principals in North Carolina who were coaches with those principals who were not coaches. This quantitative study was conducted using a survey-design method in which all 368 public high school principals in North Carolina were given the opportunity to participate. A Principal Demographic sheet along with the 2003 edition of Kouzes and Posner's Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI) Self- Form was used to gather information regarding the principals' perceptions of their leadership practices. The response rate was 64.9%. This study determined that for the research question: Do the Kouzes and Posner mean scores (for the five dimensions) differ between principals who have been coaches and those who have not, no significant difference, as measured by η2 (< .01) was reported in any of the five dimensions. This study established that North Carolina high school principals reported significantly higher levels on each of the 5 leadership practices than did those individuals in the Kouzes and Posner study. In addition, a positive relationship was found between the number of previous years of coaching experience and 3 of the 5 leadership practices. The study determined that there was little difference in the mean scores between male and female North Carolina principals.

A Successful Career as a Player Provides a Faster Path to High Level Coaching : A Qualitative Study

Gunnarsson, Per, Paldán, Ella January 2023 (has links)
Aim In the study, we problematize, among other things, the leadership qualities of players and why the majority of coaches in Swedish elite handball are former players. Within the Swedish handball elite, over 60% of all head coaches have a previous successful playing career. According to a study by Werthner et al., (2009) this may be because with previous experience as a player, this can facilitate the work as a coach because you then have specific knowledge that may be needed. Players in team sports should be good at building relationships, be selfless and self-disciplined, etc. These are also qualities that are important for a coach to have. However, the position of team captain is more similar to the position of a coach than an ordinary player. Which is quite obvious when the team captain acts as a helping hand to the coach. There are different paths to becoming a coach, especially at the elite level. The purpose of this study was to problematize these pathways and find out if a household name and former elite player gets a faster route to success as a coach. Method We conducted a qualitative study with semi-structured interviews from 10 coaches in the sample from four different leagues in the Swedish handball elite. These were Damallsvenskan, Herrallsvenskan, SHE and Handbollsligan. From Damallsvenskan there was one assistant coach and one head coach. In Herrallsvenskan we had one head coach. From SHE we had one assistant coach and two head coaches, and last we had one assistant coach and four head coaches. Consent was collected and it included knowing whether the participants wanted to be anonymous or not in the study. All gave consent to be mentioned by name after quotations in the study. We carefully followed the guidelines for GDPR and the Swedish Research Council's four general requirements. We then did a thematic analysis of the interviews, which contributed to a more detailed data collection. Results In the results, we divided the different stories from the participants into themes with sub-themes; Player career and personality traits, The coaches’ path to Swedish elite handball, Education connected to coaching and Coaches’ opinion regarding elite players becoming elite coaches. The results were created through our thematic analysis of the answers to our interview questions. Conclusion The most important thing for us with this work was to reach out to the people with the dream of a coaching career at an elite level, that this is possible if you work for it. We discussed, reflected and drew conclusions in the discussion section about, among other things, the faster path that former players get is preferable and how faster it really is, given that they have no experience in pedagogy and didactics.

Creating a Healthy Coach-Youth Golfer Relationship: "We are a team"

Hussmo, Anton, Littorin, Jesper January 2023 (has links)
The study was aimed to (1) explore how coaches and youth golfers perceive a healthy coach-athlete relationship and (2) what they do to facilitate such a relationship. This was made by doing a qualitative small-q study, interviewing coaches and youth-golfers using semi-structured interview guides. Two interview guides were formed to give the study both coach and athlete perspectives; the number of interviews was 10, with 5 coaches and 5 athletes participating. The coaches had between 20 to 37 years of experience coaching golfers and the athletes had been competing between 5 to 15 years nationally and internationally. The interviews resulted in two main themes reflecting the two objectives, (1) defining a healthy coach-athlete relationship and (2) strategies to facilitate such a relationship. As the study hade both perspectives the conclusion could be made resulting with a definition of healthy coach-athlete relationship. The definition was as follows, A healthy coach-athlete relationship is the relationship that is coach-athlete centered, characterized by open and honest communication, mutual trust and respect, work-fun balance and caring altogether ensuring positive influences on athletes’ and coaches’ mental health and wellbeing, professional/athletic and personal development. There were nine strategies, such as, commit by doing what is agreed, dialogues contribute to learning and relationship, and skilfully balance serious work and fun. Both main themes reflected the 4C framework (Jowett & Shanmugam, 2016), which proves a connection between healthy and effective coach-athlete relationship. The discussion connects and compares the result to former research, such as the 4C-framwork and discuss, method, future research, implications, and sums it with a conclusion.

Cybersecurity Awareness Training : Using ContextBased MicroTraining to teach senior citizens about phishing

Lindvall, David January 2022 (has links)
While most Swedish citizens take advantage of the numerous benefits and conveniences today’s digitalized society offers, many senior citizens are digitally excluded. It is considered that a lack of digital technological knowledge is a big contributing factor. The lack of knowledge and experience with digital technology manifests into different types of fear, where fear of falling victim to cybercrime is the most prevalent. Phishing is a common cybercrime, which is still successfully employed by cybercriminals regardless of the various security measures and information available. Senior citizens are especially vulnerable, as phishing can be hard to recognize for less technical people. To combat this, education designed for increasing a user’s cybersecurity awareness is crucial. However, as cybersecurity can be a complex topic, there is a need for simplifying it and delivering related education in a meaningful way. This is where the method ContextBased MicroTraining (CBMT) comes in. For this thesis, a browser add-on called WebSec Coach, which utilizes the CBMT framework, is used as a tool to investigate how CBMT can support Swedish senior citizens in increasing their cybersecurity awareness regarding phishing. This was examined by conducting semi-structured interviews with eight respondents, from the age of 65 and up, that possessed some level of previous computer literacy. The results were then analyzed using thematic analysis, which showed that CBMT implemented in an embedded learning tool, like WebSec Coach, increased the cybersecurity awareness regarding phishing for all respondents. Regardless of the small sample size, the results in combination with previous research point to CBMT being a directly effective method in increasing cybersecurity awareness. Furthermore, the results showed that all respondents perceived WebSec Coach positively and were interested in using it themselves after the interviews. This indicates a potential acceptance amongst senior citizens, provided that the application reaches that target group.
