This study aimed to compare the concept of transmedia storytelling by Henry Jenkins with Mikhail Bakhtin’s language theory by means of the hypothesis of that transmedia storytelling might be a bakhtinian speech genre. For this reason, we considered Captain American: the winter soldier (Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, 2014) and its narrative expansion produced in comic, short motion videos, television series and video games. Besides analyzing the motion picture, we sought to observe in which way the three speech genre elements (theme, style and compositional content) behaved in each narrative expansion of the motion picture in comparison to the character Captain America’s narratives not linked to the motion. As a result, we noticed that, while each narrative genre element not linked to the motion behaved independently, the linked narrative elements behaved similarly leading us to the conclusion that transmedia storytelling can be considered a bakhtinian speech genre.

Phantasia plus quam fantastica : penser en fiction à la Renaissance / Phantasia plus quam fantastica : thinking through fiction in the Renaissance

Vintenon, Alice 12 October 2012 (has links)
This study intends to highlight and explain the development, in the Renaissance, of a category of fictions characterized by their comical improbability and their - more or less serious - claim to convey a philosophical content. Based on a corpus of six Italian and French “philosophical fantasies” (Alberti’s Momus, Ariosto’s Orlando Furioso, Folengo’s Baldo, Rabelais’s works, Ronsard’s “seasonal hymns”, and Philippe d’Alcripe’s Nouvelle Fabrique), our study aims at defining this category, and showing how a fictional pattern, initially borrowed by Italian humanists from Lucian of Samosata, has been adapted to new philosophical stakes and controversies. Our last six chapters are devoted to case studies. The five previous ones explore, from a theoretical perspective, the status of incredible fictions in the horatian, platonic and aristotelian poetics: far from being systematically regarded as lies, or considered as artistic failures, they benefit from the high value granted to fictional invention and to the intellectual impact of astonishment. However, their relationship to the allegorical tradition is complex: while they constantly refer to it, they resist to the allegorizers’s investigation. This ambiguity is specific to the products of creative fantasy which, in Renaissance philosophy, is a strongly ambivalent faculty of the soul. / This study intends to highlight and explain the development, in the Renaissance, of a category of fictions characterized by their comical improbability and their - more or less serious - claim to convey a philosophical content.

Lisbôa, Lívia Lüdke January 2008 (has links)
I present in this dissertation of master's degree, inspired in the pos-modern optics and in the field of the Cultural Studies, a discussion on the importance of the media while forming of identities and formulator in ways of being a subject. For that, in the present study, I attempted to analyze the contents related to the environmental thematic that are part of some of the comic strips of Turma da Mônica, written by Maurício de Souza, and its importance as a diffuser of opinions, knowledge, representations and concepts on the field of environmental science. For this purpose, are identified, presented and analyzed the main strategies of language (images, words and signs) used in this space, that can promote or not a sensitization of the reader about socialenvironmental thematic, revealed through the opinion that the characters bring from the environment or from the nature. For this analysis, were selected 15 strips of Turma da Mônica from 1990 to 2006. Were chosen Maurício de Souza's comic books for the realization of this dissertation, because they are conceived and produced in Brazil, for the fact that their characters are representative "brazilian types" and for being one of the comics of bigger print run and interest for part of children's reader public in the country. In this work I indicate also the existence of discursive woofs that show to the reader some representations of nature, in the way that these strips and his contents constitute themselves as educative spaces that teach in the playful form on several aspects, between them, questions connected with the environment. Through the trajectory of this work, I could realize clearly that the media, while channel of communication that is, it has a deep and undeniable importance in the formation of the identities of the subjects. The representation of nature presented to the reader in the analyzed HQs showed: a notable separation between the man of the field and of the city; a utilitarian vision of the animals; the homogenization of the human being: when distinctions between the different cultures inside the western society are not presented; sometimes the lack of notes of alternatives for the environmental faced problems; between other situations. I realized, so, that the HQs opened to question brings in the contents presented to the reader a series of suggestions of the forms of being/to act/ to be positioned. These very often are not explicit and generally they are not imposed on to the reader; however I believe that the contact with speeches that suggest positions regarding the nature, that suggest ways of acting in front of some environmental problems - even if it's not explicitly, they deserve to be taken into account in studies like this one, as well as for educators who want to carry out pedagogic works making use of this cultural persistence.
