Comunicação e juventude no Morro da Mangueira : o espaço da Comunidade da Candelária / Communication and youth in the Morro da Mangueira: the space of the Community of Candelaria

Eduardo Bianchi 14 March 2013 (has links)
This work is an immersion in the field, a qualitative research that has been in direct contact with its object, a group of youths calling themselves the "rats". These young people are residents of Hill of Mangueira, more precisely the slum of Candelaria, located in the north of the city of Rio de Janeiro. The issues raised are linked to the social relations of everyday life, as these young people are able to use your body to its fullest, and information and communication technologies to build their narratives. They are stories told through the experiences of everyday life, to help them establish their territoriality and places, ambiance shared by the affections and also enemies. In the field, in Candelaria, the research seeks to problematize relations body, the body as a communication medium in search of sociability, social and cultural recognition. From an issue raised by the rats during the field survey, it was realized the need to immerse themselves in a new medium to exploit communication, social networking Internet, an exploration netnografica. Relations between the two fields exploration and analysis were critical to better problematization of communication processes adopted by these young people. It was important to understand how social relations of friendship amid a group of friends, and the configuration of the notions of group, tribe and community are configured from the everyday communication. The analyzes were based on field by appropriations and reinterpretation of communicative language, body and communicative uses of communications media technology

Da lousa ao pixel: o ensino com as novas tecnologias da informação e da comunicação (NTICs) em escola municipal de Ribeirão Preto / From the slate to the pixel: the teaching with the New Technologies of Information and Communication (NTICs) in municipal school of Ribeirão Preto

Rômulo José Oliveira 26 May 2017 (has links)
The emergence and expansion of the New Technologies of Information and Communication (NTICs) made possible numerous cultural changes, including in school spaces. Faced with this reality, the present research seeks to understand the possible changes that have occurred in the teaching process used by NICTs as didactic-pedagogical resources. The purpose of such research is to understand the reasons why teachers use New Technologies of Information and Communication as instrumental resources in current teaching. For this, a unique case study was carried out, with a qualitative approach, in a municipal school of Ribeirão Preto, in which the questionnaire, the interview and the informal observation were used as instruments of data collection. A professor of each area of knowledge (Human Sciences, Nature Sciences, Languages and Mathematics) was interviewed that composes the course of Elementary School (Final Years) and, for the interpretation of the collected data, the proposed Content Analysis method was used By Bardin. Based on the analysis of the data in the light of the theoretical reference, three considerations have been observed: first, that there is a certain lack of definition about the social function of the school (integral formation versus intellectual formation). The position of this research is to assume the school with the That is, the school institution is not yet ready to offer a process of integral formation, but also, it should not be reduced to offering a mere instruction; The second consideration is that there is a predominance of a teaching concept as content transmission as an established practice, which determines a passive attitude on the part of the students, in contradiction with the theoretical foundation of this research; Finally, in relation to the locus of NICTs in the teaching process, such technologies must be assumed as support, support, instrument, and therefore are not the main elements of the teaching process, although they have a still immeasurable potential. Could further qualify the teaching process.

Many researches have pointed out that the use of information and communication technologies, specifically the use of information technology, is increasingly present in the school environment, assisting in the process of teaching and learning. Whereas the computer and the media in general are part of the daily life of students and today represent an important reference tool and study, the school can not refrain from this reality in their environment. This should therefore assume a role that goes beyond the mere transmission of content accumulated in streams such content, if not streamlined with the daily life of students will not be channeled to the development of skills required for the commitment that education Basic objective to foster in students. In this context, this paper proposes formulate, implement multimedia capabilities and make a research about the influence in order to strengthen the actions of the Chemistry faculty in order to minimize the gaps of traditional education they can not approach the students of science for its abstractness. The survey was conducted in a public school in Fortaleza - CE, located in Cearà Barra neighborhood, chosen by their results against the Basic Education Development Index (IDEB), which was 4.5 for the year 2013. Has herself, initially, a literature review on the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in teaching Chemistry. In addition to textbooks, other sources were used to prepare the material. Five CDs were prepared, using software like PowerPoint, Prezi, Word, Adobe Flash Player for cooking classes in multimedia. Also made use of video and two simulators. In order to verify the effectiveness of the material produced was selected two groups, one called control and other work to make implementation of the CD corresponding to the 2nd quarter contents, according to the teaching plan. The study was based on a qualitative and quantitative treatment on the acquisition of knowledge about the concepts of atomic structure, electronic distribution, periodic table, periodic properties, atomic and molecular interactions, molecular geometry, polarity connections, intermolecular interactions, sigma bonds and pi , seeking the understanding facilitator way for your event. The results obtained by evaluating the proposed exercises in CDs and collecting opinions showed that all students have an interest in learning the content taught through the use of technological tools is the media type, simulators, exercise bench, internet, finally all set of features that make up the digital universe. The classes in multimedia, containing all the contents of the first year of high school, were the educational product generated in this research. This was made available in the staff room, the official website of the school on the Internet, as support material, and computer labs, that they may serve as a research and review source for students.

Gláucia Silva Bierwagen 13 October 2011 (has links)
This dissertation aims to explain how the work with the blog, using other technology tools such as email, Google Docs, Digital HQ can help students produce activities in the discipline of Natural Science at Elementary School II with the theme of sexuality. The activities sought to encourage skills such as reflection, autonomy, research, logical reasoning, working cooperatively and to read and write using different text genres. Search still see the active participation of students in shaping their learning these technological tools mentioned above. For the development of the work sought to address theoretical foundations of sociocultural researchers as Vygotsky (formation of spontaneous and scientific concepts, zone of proximal development, higher psychological functions and symbolic mediation), Bakhtin (enunciation, genres and polyphony) and Wertsch (theory of action mediated, cultural tools, mastery and appropriation of knowledge). In developing the physical structure of the blog was sought to support the design work for projects (developing the theme of sexuality) and methodology WebQuest (using some elements the same as Web search, job development, dissemination activities performed by the students, step by step activities). Conceptualizes and discusses historically and blogs on ICT in education and science teaching. ICT relates to the teaching of science and education legislation. There are other technological tools that can be associated with the use of the blog as Windows Movie Maker, Youtube, Gmail, Google Docs and Digital HQ. Diásporas mentais e mentes diaspóricas : emergências, novas tecnologias, música, educação

Lima, Maria Helena de January 2013 (has links)
The thesis is a reflection on emerging collective behavior and individual associated with ICT - Information and Communication Technologies -, and that from a research approach based on the Eco-Systemic Perspective (constructivist, interactionist, socio-cultural, emotional and transcendent), seeks to reproduce a path of references and theoretical personal, individual and collective reflections. The visualization of individual and collective behaviors related to ICTs associated with a growing need for expression and sharing may be considered as the starting point of this thesis. Although the thesis is not limited to the musical aspect, the reflection that resulted from this work had as a principal an intense and growing musical activity observation , which was not limited to file listening and exchanges, but also to the observation of protagonist, creative, not hierarchical behavior , related to the intervention on archives, collective composition, manipulation of open codes and open code communities, which are investigated by the line of research on Ubiquitous Music, which is one of the Thesis´ references. All these behaviors are generally associated with youth, but also are increasingly widespread in society and extended to all areas. Tribal behaviors according to Maffesoli, linked to a cyclical view that expresses the human need for their desires´ expression, which are characterized by a being together, a presenteeism, and a rerooting as a deep human need, in response to a stagnant society by an excessive rationality. Behaviors that, according to Heidegger, emphasize the relational aspect of being-there as essentially as being-with-the-other, and the game as part of the existence and this relationship. A game, which in his turn is directly associated to our way of relating to ICTs. Emergent behaviors that for Johnson are linked to the observable patterns in many systems in nature and in society. All these aspects are related to the complex view of Morin on homo in all its facets of manifestation in the world: sapiens, faber, demens, ludens, mythologicus, which in turn permeate our own relationship with the world we have built, and with the technology that retroacts on the world and on us. Behaviors that potentially bring with them a deep questioning of what we are, our possibilities and determinism, of our physical, brain, mental and spiritual constitution, of our limits and possibilities, our advances and retreats. Behaviors that bring the possibility of reflection on science, and technosciences, that we produce and that produce us, all relationships that reflect the way we see, reflect and make education at all levels. The idea of Mental Diasporas and Diasporic Minds, seeks to synthesize this complex movement, which enhances the possibility of us being at the same time in different spaces and times, which disengages us from physical, local and social limitations, which reaffirms our complex physical and non-physical, mental and cerebral, spiritual, contradictory and consensual, collective and individual identity.

Technology and Organizational Decision-Making: A Qualitative Case Study Approach

McRae, Brad Marcus 01 January 2019 (has links)
Technology and communication skills simultaneously increase organizational productivity and decision-making. However, excessive use of technology to make decisions can diminish the added benefits that nonverbal communication can bring. The interpersonal sensitivity effects on perception of service quality model, face-to-face communication versus teleconferencing, the technology acceptance model, and decision-making were the conceptual framework of the study. The research questions examined how excessive use of technology to make decisions can diminish the added benefits that nonverbal communication can bring to organizational leadership decision-making. Employing an exploratory multiple case study design, organizational leaders from the Southern California region, ranging in seniority from team-leader through executive, completed 25 member-checked interviews and 15 qualitative questionnaires. Using Yin's 5-step approach to analyzing the data, 8 themes remerged. From these themes, I developed 5 findings regarding technology, non-verbal communication, and decision-making. My study affects positive social change by educating organizational leaders on the importance of distancing themselves from work during nonwork hours, encouraging organizational leaders to develop guidelines around the use of teleconference software, promoting organizational learning with an emphasis on soft-skill training, and acknowledging when there is a misunderstanding in nonverbal communication. Organizational leaders can improve decision-making by using the favorable traits associated with both electronic and nonverbal behavioral communications.

Development and validation of an instrument for assessing online learning environments in tertiary education: The Online Learning Environment Survey (OLLES)

Clayton, John Francis January 2007 (has links)
Increasingly the perceived benefits of using networked computers, software applications and computer simulations in learning activities are being exploited at all educational levels and within all curricula areas. As web-based and online software applications such as browsers, search engines, communication tools and data-bases mature, so does educator's use of this medium for teaching and learning. How we can investigate the impact of these technologies upon the educational experiences of learners was the fundamental concept addressed by this thesis. The study reports on the design, development and validation of a web-based survey instrument for use in online learning environments in tertiary education. The thesis investigated both previous psychosocial learning environment instrument development studies and the nature of environments created by the use of information and communication technologies. The research followed a two-phased instrument development process. Phase one focused on content validity, identifying salient scales and items and piloting the instrument with a limited audience. Phase two focused on construct validity, conducting an extensive field test with a web-based form and performing statistical analysis on the online data collected. Principal components analysis, with oblique and orthogonal rotations, confirmed the structure of a 35-item 7-scale instrument. The thesis concludes by confirming the new instrument, the Online Learning Environment Survey (OLLES), will allow conclusions to be drawn about student perceptions on the interactions occurring in their online environments in an economical and efficient manner.

Using information and communication technology to facilitate supply chain management in the New Zealand construction industry

Wang, Ye Unknown Date (has links)
The New Zealand construction supply chain today is inefficient. From a literature review it is found that non value adding activities including waste of time and materials are caused by islands of information with ineffective communication between supply chain participants. This represents an opportunity for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to provide a strategic supply chain management model for the industry enabling interaction and shared information between all parties. To evaluate the performance of ICTs in the New Zealand construction supply chain, this thesis uses as a case study newly launched software---BlueSky. BlueSky was developed by the Building Integration Software Company located in AUT Technical Park. BlueSky was designed to integrate the fragments of the current information flow of the chain from architect through to the end property owner. Supporting Data was gathered by distributing a structured questionnaire designed to find the opportunities and inhibitors for utilizing ICTs to facilitate the synthesis of the chain. 200 responses were received. The study was funded by a TEC grant. The BlueSky case study is based on two pilot sites; one is an architectural design company and the other is a master contractor company in Auckland. The case study also evaluated the potential problems which may bring risks to supply chain members and provide possible recommendations for future research. The study found from the results of the questionnaire that a significant shift in the mindset of participants of the supply chain will be necessary in terms of collaboration and team work if mutual benefits are to be achieved. It is found that in the two pilot sites BlueSky did make a significant difference in terms of reduced cost, accuracy of information, improved documentation management, and overall increased speed and clarity of information. In the wider community of the industry as a whole considerable education is needed to break down mistrust between members. In general each member appears to be determined to secure the best result as individuals rather than considering the overall outcome for the whole chain. This reluctance to co-operate is coupled with a reluctance to utilize ICTs. Recommendations are made to overcome this mindset.
