Silva, Gabriela Marques Mendes da 07 August 2015 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-04-25T20:21:29Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 GABRIELA MARQUES MENDES DA SILVA.pdf: 5845578 bytes, checksum: 1c642ab6b53eec10563d9ecdbcf227d7 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2015-08-07 / The crisis of human civilization is directly associated to the structure of its thought process, especially in Western societies, because this is based on a paradigm of logic that simplifies, reduces and fragments people's understanding of reality and the world around them. The current educational practice, which is carried out and concentrated in schools, is inadequate to the task of developing citizens who can learn to deal with the complexity of the modern world and its challenges. Complex thinking, then, as proposed by Edgar Morin, is one possible approach to enable the construction of a new culture of knowledge, which can contribute to a worldview in which human beings reposition their thinking in favor of life, by becoming conscious of their situation in the context of the planet they inhabit, and by recognizing their identity and their earthly community. When applied to educational practice, the concept of complexity makes it possible to reconnect bodies of knowledge that enable the recognition of global problems and that create awareness of the political, social and ethical needs that are necessary for a fundamental civilizing posture: in solidarity with, and responsible for, emerging transformations. This study will analyze the activities of the Popular Center for Culture and Development, located in the city of Araçuaí in the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil, as an alternative method of learning, based on the application of the concept of complexity in its educational practices and organization, and which has resulted in significant and positive transformations in the communities where it has been adopted, and which is now recognized as an important reference in education and in sustainable community development. It is a space in which the individual's experience is broadened, by the continuous and motivating practice of social transformation and the realization of a situation that is based on respect for life, both in the present and in the future. The individual, increasingly aware of his/her own humanity, is nourished, simultaneously and in a complementary manner, by utopia and reality on the path to building a planetary ethic / A crise da vida humana está associada diretamente com a estrutura do pensamento, principalmente das sociedades ocidentais, por reproduzir uma lógica de um paradigma que simplifica, reduz e fragmenta a compreensão que se tem da realidade e do mundo.

Dimensão fractal e métodos quantitativos aplicados ao estudo de comunidades do macrobentos marinhos / Fractal Dimension and quantitative methods applied to the study of marine communities

Carina Waiteman Rodrigues 19 October 2017 (has links)
The Sargassum C. Agardh macroalgae is of recognized ecological importance in coastal ecosystems, particularly in the rocky coastal communities of tropical and warm temperate regions. It is widely distributed on the southeast coast of Brazil, being frequent in rocky shores of moderate locations or protected from the impacts of waves. In these environments can form dense and extensive banks, structurally complex, capable of providing microhabitats varied for a great diversity of organisms. The Sargassum banks are susceptible to seasonal changes in their biomass and/or physiological status related to abiotic and biotic factors, and these variations can drastically influence the distribution and density of organisms associated with algae. The complexity of this substrate has been evaluated by means of several measures, being quantitative, as dry weight, the most used. The present work aims to evaluate the performance of different quantitative measures of the structural complexity of Sargassum filipendula banks i) in the temporal development of algae structural complexity in two hydrodynamically different environments and ii) in the composition and distribution of epifaunal organisms. Fifteen fronds of S. filipendula were collected per month, during 13 months, on the beaches of Fortaleza and Lamberto, Ubatuba, SP. The fauna present in these fronds was obtained through continuous washing and sieving. The sampling period was characterized by being atypical, presenting high temperatures throughout the year and a summer with low rainfall. This fact strongly influenced the seasonal variation of S. filipendula and associated epiphytes, causing high values of dry weight between spring and summer. The results of the comparisons of the measures analyzed showed that a single parameter is not representative of the structural complexity of the algae, since each measure presented differences in relation to the abundance and diversity of the fauna. These two indicators also showed a positive correlation with all parameters of substrate complexity. There was a significant difference between the beaches, and the Lambert fronds were structurally more complex, bearing the greatest abundance. However, it was the fronds of Fortaleza that exhibited the highest values of group richness. We discuss the use of one more of a quantitative measure to measure the structural complexity of the habitat.

It is a phenomenon resulting from the crisis of paradigms of the contemporary world and the need for revision and extension of existing models of medical practice. It presents itself as a transdisciplinary knowledge affiliated with integrative and complementary models of work and health care. This thesis analyzes the structuring process of Brazilian Naturopathic provided transdisciplinary knowledge and practice. It seeks to understand if the Naturopathic favors the reconnection of knowledge and rationality that entails, and if it can be seen as a new approach in healthcare. Theoretical and methodological terms, this thesis is guided by the basis and foundation of the complex thought. The Brazilian academic production of Naturopathic Medicine verifies if and how the incorporation of theoretical and epistemological principles has been processed what allows characterizing it as a concurrently complex, multidisciplinary and comprehensive knowledge. The research analyzes, qualitatively, seventy-one course conclusion works from the only two higher education institutions in Brazil that offer bachelor degree in Naturopathic. The analysis of empirical data confirmed the hypothesis that the Naturopathic knowing and doing are linked to principles and critical paradigms of knowledge and revealed, however, the difficulty that the unorthodox knowledge faces to be accepted and incorporated in the academic field / A Naturologia é um conhecimento caracterizado pela mescla de racionalidades médicas, de filosofias e de técnicas de cura orientais, ocidentais, modernas e tradicionais.

Santos, Marcelo Moreira 26 October 2012 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-04-26T18:12:30Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Marcelo Moreira Santos.pdf: 1103732 bytes, checksum: f1ca91036fe2c93f88aefaf816bd3e5b (MD5) Previous issue date: 2012-10-26 / Fundação de Amparo a Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo / This thesis had the objective of studying Poetics of Film. Considering poetry, in the case of cinema, as the process of creation, production and effect achieved by the film, this research s question was: how is a systemic semiotic unit created in a film? Its goal, therefore, was to understand how poetics is structured and engendered. The hypothesis that guided this research were the following: 1) the signs characteristics, which are the hybrid language of cinema, are formed by the integration and complementation of semiotic principles and developments of the aural, visual and verbal languages, 2) the film s systemic ontology is characterized by a collaborative authorship and a complex process of semiosis and communication. To achieve its objective, the research was based on the junction of the Peircean semiotic theory and Edgar Morin and Jorge Vieira s theory of systems. This junction allowed the understanding of the hybrid nature of the filmic sign, which is based on the intersection of three semiotic principles developed by Santaella: syntax, form and discourse. Thus, the filmic interpretation was carried out from Peirce's theory of the interpretants, along with systemic evolutionary parameters. Considering that the cinematography of Alfred Hitchcock constitutes a unique case of an optimized entanglement between semiotics and systemics, the research focused on the study of carefully selected parts from three films by the director: Rear Window (1954), Vertigo (1958) and Psycho (1960). The choice is due to the fact that this filmmaker prepares exemplarily a complex unity in his films, working the characteristics of each language - visual, aural and verbal - on both its autonomy and on the interfaces and integrations between them, generating poetics, ie a way of internal engendering that organizes different elements in a systemic dynamics. The analysis revealed that the suspense in Hitchcock is based on the geometrization of a network of intersemiosis that flows, uniting itself by attractive structures, through which timelines of events and information gradually reveal a representative grammaticality. Thus, in addition to situate and contextualize Hitchcock in poetics of film articulated in different schools and movements throughout history, this research established the concept of systemic ontology cinematography. For, in its ontological bias, the poetics of film is made by an organization of diverse and plural nature, whose active unit is established and maintained by the multiplicity of interactions and cooperation which the semiotics agents involved, with their specialties and functions, are able to produce, develop and transform / A presente tese tomou como seu objeto de pesquisa a poética fílmica.

Milanez, Jose Francisco Bernardes January 2017 (has links)
This theoretical work seeks a new way of understanding the wider and interdependent health in relation to the environment in order to overcome the Cartesian and anthropocentric current way of seeing the health and the difficulties it faces. He does this by using the Complexity Theory, inspired by Morin, and by studying its characteristics and comparing them with those of health, proposes the construction of a Complex Notion of Health, demonstrates aspects of its importance and gives examples of its scope, suggesting That is applied in education, in a joint learning of the Complex Notion of Health with the Complexity Theory, in a process of mutual assistance that we are calling recursive pedagogy.

Complexité des pavages apériodiques : calculs et interprétations / Complexity of aperiodic tilings : computations and interpretations

Julien, Antoine 10 December 2009 (has links)
Since the 1980s, the theory of aperiodic tilings developed quickly, motivated by the discovery of metallic alloys which crystallize in an aperiodic structure. This highlighted the need for new models of crystals. Two models of aperiodic tilings are specifically studied in this dissertation. First, the cut-and-project method, then the inflation and substitution method. Two point of view are developed for the study of these objects: the study of the complexity function associated to a tiling, and the metric study of the associated tiling space. In a first part, the asymptotic behaviour of the complexity function for cut-and-project tilings is studied. The results stated here generalize formerly known results in the specific case of dimension 1. It is proved that for an (N,d) canonical projection tiling without periods, the complexity grows like n to the a, with a an integer greater or equal to d but lesser or equal to N-d.A second part is based on a construction by Pearson and Bellissard of a spectral triple for ultrametric Cantor sets. Their construction is applied to self-similar Cantor sets. It applies in particular to the transversal of substitution tiling spaces. In a last part, the links between the complexity function of a tiling and the usual distance on its associated tiling space are made explicit. These links can provide a direct and complete proof of the following fact: the complexity of an aperiodic d-dimensional substitution tiling grows asymptotically as n to the d, up to constants. These links between complexity and distance raises the question of links between complexity and topology. Partial answers are given in this direction.

To Communicate a Communicator : What is a strategic communicator and what is expected of its professional role?

Kristofersson, Amanda, Flink, Elina January 2019 (has links)
This study aims to examine what competencies are expected from a strategiccommunicator 2019, as well as how education and the work field is cooperating.Expectations on competencies regarding the strategic communication profession and thecooperation between education and work field is analyzed based upon empirical data. Thedata is conducted from a combined quantitative and qualitative online-survey withstudents at the strategic communication at Umeå University (N = 45), and semi-structuredqualitative interview with associate professor at the program for strategic communicationat Umeå University and a selection of employees from six different companies within theprivate sector. Two different Likert-scales is used for measuring collaboration andcompetencies in the online-survey. Strategic communication theory and complexity theoryare used for discussion of the analyzed data. The results show that students find the levelof collaboration between education and work field to be low (mean score falls under 3 outof 7 for all the variables). However, the majority have been in touch with companieswithin strategic communication (68 percent). Education and work field show a low levelof cooperation, but both parts want to increase the collaboration. The only competencythat is mentioned by all three parties is to be creative. Generally, for all three parties, thereis a focus on subjective characteristics rather than technical and practical ability andcompetence. There is a natural development of a higher demand on communicativeorganizations and strategic communicators must therefore practice communication in itscomplexity and leave the transmission model in order to move toward aprofessionalization. The variety of competencies required can be explained fromcomplexity theory that the strategic communicator benefits from being complex andflexible to meet the demands from a complex society. Thus, the conclusion is that theresults show a need for an increased level of communication between education and workfield.

RESEARCH BASEED STATE-OF-THE-ART WEBSITE DESIGN USABILITY GUIDELINES

Nawaz, Sohail January 2013 (has links)
Introduction of web technology have turned the current world into a global village and web design becomes a huge challenge to develop a website in a better way. To develop a user friendly interface and easy access environment of webpage is the key issue of usability in this field. Improved and user friendly interface of a web site is becoming more popular. There are so many mistakes being committed when a designer develops end users interface of a web site. The main purpose of usability in this field is to provide a user friendly, easy access environment. This paper reveals a guideline for usability of the website design. Most of the designer or developer thinks about their websites outlooks rather than thinking about users’ concern. If it becomes difficult to use their website, people won’t revisit their site. So if designers want to have a successful website, they have to ensure that their design fulfills the users’ requirement. The purpose of this paper is to indicate the existing common usability issues which are being overlooked by the designers and developers, and to provide some possible solutions to reduce these usability problems. It also suggests some simple but effective tips and techniques as well as some guidelines for website design that could be helpful for designer and developer if they keep these in mind during designing a website. The results of the paper specify that there should be the interest to designers and developers who are concerned about improvement of usability and more accessibility of their websites by users. In this thesis, I am committed to create the understanding on the aspects of usability principles suitable to make a user interface more acceptable to the users. This understanding will surely be a pilot project for upcoming future researches on the development of interface design. / Program: Magisterutbildning i informatik
