O amor cortês e os Lais de Maria de França : um olhar historiográfico /

Carvalho, Ligia Cristina. January 2009 (has links)
Abstract: During Central Medium Age (XI-XIII), exactly at the second half of XII Century, Lais de Marie de France were written, literary writings which discuss the Courtly Love. Although they are considered funny literature of the court, Lais are a specific history record about medieval aristocratic society. This work intends to reflect about the construction of a new love mental representation, according to analyses about the Courtly Love found in this source. The same way, respecting the source specificity, we will try to understand the socials realities and the medieval imaginary, trying to comprehend how Marie de France presents the society of that time, with the precepts and interdictions, reaffirming such values and, at the same time, rebelling against others. / Mestre

Le chevalier courtois à la rencontre de la Suède médiévale : Du Chevalier au lion à Herr Ivan / The Courtly Knight Meets Medieval Sweden : From Le Chevalier au lion to Herr Ivan

Lodén, Sofia January 2012 (has links)
This dissertation investigates the links between Chrétien de Troyes’ romance Le Chevalier au lion from the late twelfth century and the Old Swedish text Herr Ivan, written at the behest of Queen Eufemia of Norway at the beginning of the fourteenth century. The study has two parts. The first sets out to determine the sources of the Swedish text: Was Le Chevalier au lion really the source text of Herr Ivan? The second part raises the question of what happened to the courtly ideals that characterize the French romance when they were transferred into Swedish. The analysis of the question concerning the sources of Herr Ivan confirms that Le Chevalier au lion was the translator’s main source, while the Old Norse version Ívens saga, from the middle of the thirteenth century, was used as a secondary source. The relationship between Le Chevalier au lion, Ívens saga and Herr Ivan is examined through a comparison of the three texts: the choice of verse or prose, the role of prologues and epilogues, and the use of the voice of a narrator and of direct and indirect discourse. Four specific passages are compared at a micro-level. By comparing Herr Ivan to its sources, it becomes clear that the Swedish translator wanted to stress certain courtly ideals by presenting a distinct and coherent interpretation of what Chrétien de Troyes refers to as courtoisie. This indicates that the function of the text was to present a set of ideological and aesthetic values. The analysis of the transmission of courtly ideals takes its point of departure in the uses of the French word courtois and the Swedish equivalent hövisker. As a next step, three elements intimately linked to courtliness are examined: aventure, gaieté and honneur. Also the different roles played by the lion are highlighted. Finally, it is shown how the courtly ideals of Herr Ivan can be read in the light of the other Old Swedish texts written at the behest of Queen Eufemia: Hertig Fredrik av Normandie and Flores och Blanzeflor.

Balladspår i modern svensk litteratur : Intertextuella influenser

Schrevelius, Ally January 2008 (has links)

The purpose of this study is to investigate the distribution of medieval ballads as semiotics of intertextuality in modern Swedish literature, here represented by August Strindberg, Erik Axel Karlfeldt, Kerstin Ekman and Katarina Frostenson. They are famous authors from different epochs, ranging from the period called “the modern breakthrough” in the 1880s until the postmodernism of the present time. My aim is to expose their attraction to medieval balladry, and their different ways of using form, language and style from this old poetry in poems, prose and plays, explicit as well as implicit.

L'amor cortese provenzale fra hohe Minne e dolce stil novo

Hostert, Thomas January 2003 (has links)
In this thesis, a literary historic path on the development of the lyric expression of courtly love will be created. The path will take us from the Provence through Germany and Sicily, and up to the Tuscany of the thirteen's century. The poetic characteristics of the hohe Minne and dolce stil novo will be particularly highlighted in order to facilitate the comprehension of their similarities and differences. It is understood that it will not be possible to offer a complete interpretation of the two lyric expressions. Rather, this thesis wishes to offer a basis for the development of further comparative studies between the German and Italian lyric expressions that were inspired by the Provencal courtly love. As representatives of the evolution of the poetry of love in Germany and Italy, Walther von der Vogelweide and Guido Cavalcanti were chosen for the innovative character of their poetry and the artistic quality of the results they achieved.

Italská rétorika a dvorská láska v Listáři královny Kunhuty: kritická edice sbírky Mistra Bohuslava s anglickým úvodem (Codex Vindobonensis Palatinus 526) / Italian rhetoric and courtly love in the Formulary of Queen Kunhuta. A critical edition of the Collection of Magister Bohuslav with an English introduction (Codex Vindobonensis Palatinus 526)

Battista, Francesca January 2016 (has links)
In Czech historiography Queen Kunhuta has been quite neglected. Her figure has not been investigated in monographs or specific studies. She can be somehow included within the group of defamed queens, which is especially rich in the Middle Ages. This negative image of the queen finds its origin in medieval chronicles, which blamed Kunhuta for her love affair with Záviš of Falkenštejn, who was accused of being one of the promoters of the defeat of Otakar II. Kunhuta's negative portrayal has been very stable and despite its rehabilitation in the most recent studies, it probably influenced scholars' disinterest in the part she performed as a political agent. The documentary material preserved shows that her active role in Bohemian society of the thirteenth century deserves more attention. She was involved in various administrative and political tasks. The first chapter of the thesis should provide an approach to the study of the queen, which mediates between a partial point of view and Kunhuta's multi-faceted image. It should introduce a figure to whom is linked a letter collection, which represents the main theme of the present dissertation (i.e. the letter collection of master Bohuslav, probably a chaplain and notary of the queen). The analysis and the critical edition of the source can be found in...

Le Cheval d'ébène à la cour de France : Cléomadès et Méliacin / The Ebony Horse at the Court of France : Cléomadès and Méliacin

Houdebert, Aurélie 23 January 2016 (has links)
Cléomadès by Adenet le Roi and Meliacin by Girart d’Amiens are both an enigma in the literary history of the Middle Ages. Both originate from the same oriental tale but they are actually two different, exactly contemporary novels. The research work in this thesis aims at understanding part of the mystery of the twin nature of the texts. The research on the sources and the conditions in which these novels were written takes us to the court of France, under the patronage of Marie de Brabant, and leads us to assume that the poets may have been deliberately led to compete with each other. The literay study of the two novels tries to establish the way the tale became a novel, and to understand how an oriental tale was adapted to the tastes of an aristocratic society of the late thirteenth century. In these two works submitted to the same constraints, two distinct poetics appear. The last part of the thesis examines the fate of the two novels, looking for clues on the history of their reception.
