Reading your daily newspaper without a PC!

van der Meulen, Marianne January 2010 (has links)
For many it is a problem not to be able to read the daily newspaper. Compilations of a week’s newspaper articles are a compromise. Computer owners do not need to compromise as they can read their daily on their pc. But what if you don’t have a pc? For non- pc-owners the ORIONWebbox can be a godsend. The ORIONWebbox is a simple device that can easily navigate through a daily newspaper supporting the DAISY protocol and making use of TTS. In Finland and Belgium we have access to daily newspapers. Explanation of management of content per user follows.

Nilsson, Vanessa January 2023 (has links)
The purpose of the study is to investigate how articles in Helsingborg's daily newspaper that dealt with rationing can say something about how the view of femininity is constructed at the beginning of the Second World War during 1939-1942. The articles deal with everything from tips on recipes to violations of rationing, topics taken from everyday life and are therefore good sources for everyday life, the rationing system, consumption habits, and gender during this specific period in Helsingborg. The question is what knowledge about everyday life, rationing, consumption history, and gender during the Second World War can the sources contribute to? The essay is arranged as follows: The background consists of an account of the Second World War and rationing. The method chosen is qualitative content analysis. It was chosen because the method allows one to analyze the material in depth. The material was divided and coded through the method to understand the purpose of each article. In this study, gender theory is used because the articles in the newspaper contain a lot of information about women and their roles during World War II. The previous research in this study consists of literature that all relates to the subject of the study. Since the study contains information about several different areas, the literature is used for different purposes. The survey is divided into different topics. The study examines how the articles have conveyed information about the rationing system and rationing violations, consumption and housekeeping, and also gender and housewife ideals. The conclusion of the work with the material provides further information about everyday life, rationing, consumption history, and gender in Helsingborg during the years 1939-1942. The material also shows the position of women during the war and the limited role they had. This leads to gender roles being reinforced during this period.

Mediální obraz fotbalového klubu AC Sparta Praha v deníku Sport po vstupu Czech News Center Daniela Křetínského na mediální trh / Media image of football club AC Sparta Prague in daily Sport after Daniel Křetínský's Czech News Center joined the czech media market

Pěruška, Jan January 2018 (has links)
Diploma thesis "Media Image of AC Sparta Prague in Deník Sport after Daniel Křetínský's Czech News Center joined the Czech Media Market" deals with comparison of the media content of Deník Sport in selected periods. The selected area was chosen because of the company of Daniel Křetínský, who is currently also the owner of AC Sparta Prague, bought the publishing house of Deník Sport. In this thesis is used the media content analysis, which should confirm or disprove the hypothesis, that the content of Deník Sport was changed in 2014 for Sparta Prague. In the theoretical part of this thesis the development of the Czech media ownership after 1989 is described, also the topics of journalistic values and possible ethics problems like conflict of interests are stated. The results of the media analysis should be added in interviews with the Deník Sport's staffers.

Die grüne Seite: Umweltjournalisten deutscher Tageszeitungen – Eine methodisch verknüpfte Studie zu Arbeitsrealität, Rollenselbstverständnissen sowie deren Handlungsrelevanz

Dietrich, Anne 08 October 2013 (has links)

Kitti Lundholm, Daniel January 2022 (has links)
At the end of February 1957, the WHO announced that a highly contagious flu epidemic was raging in China, where hundreds of thousands of people had fallen ill. This flu then spreads with furious speed over the rest of the world and becomes known as the Asian flu. The main purpose of the essay is to use a qualitative content analysis to investigate and compare how the Asian flu pandemic was portrayed in the Swedish newspapers Norrskensflamman and Dagens Nyheter at its outbreak in 1957. The reason why these two newspapers have been chosen is due to their differences in quantity, political tendency and their geographical locations. Both dailies have also been available digitally. Based on own investigations in the thesis, as well as research on previous epidemics that have affected Sweden, three themes have been identified; panic, vaccines and societal change. These are a starting point for seeking answers to what the portrayal looks like, what differences there are between the newspapers and whether Norrbotten is affected in a different way compared to the rest of Sweden. The articles on the Asian flu that have been investigated have been located in the two newspapers and compared in relation to each other. The essay shows both similarities and differences in the newspapers' reporting of the Asian flu, where the most prominent are the panic aspects. Together, both newspapers report a much lower death toll from the flu than the actual one, but differ in how much responsibility they take to prevent public panic, for example through word choice. Their early reporting on the work with vaccines also helps to calm and convey that the situation is under control. On the other hand, the content of the articles changes quickly when it is clear that the infection is raging in Sweden. Information in the newspapers regarding societal changes is sparse and there are few indications that they are permanent. There are no clear indications that Norrbotten was hit much harder by the Asian flu than the rest of Sweden, quite the opposite.

Fridholm, Felix, Karlsson Schjölin, Sebastian January 2022 (has links)
This bachelor's thesis is about exploring what rhetorical power a daily newspaper’s front page might possess in affecting a nation’s emotion with regards to the portrayal of news. More specifically, we study how the news about the war in Ukraine presented on the front pages of Swedish newspapers may contribute to the sense of alarm regarding the current situation in Sweden. The material consists of four front covers from two newspapers, two from Svenska Dagbladet and two from Aftonbladet, from the 25th and 26th of February, the first two days after the war broke out. Our theoretical framework aims to propose a nuanced multimodal view on pathosanalysis that is based on the combined insights from linguistics and argumentation studies on the perspective of emotions with our own proposal for a visual addition. The analysis shows how emotions are conveyed through the linguistic structure of the headlines, the choice of images and the overall composition of the front page. We were able to provide potential links from the emotions conveyed in the material to the unease experienced in Sweden during that time even though further research is required for verification. The results also indicate an interrelation between objectivity and the need for sales in newspaper front cover with regards to prior research on magazine covers.

Osvobozený našinec v letech 1945 až 1948 / Osvobozený našinec from 1945 to 1948

Marešová, Veronika January 2015 (has links)
This diploma thesis, Osvobozený Našinec from 1945 to 1948, aims to analyze the aforementioned daily newspaper in the selected period. Osvobozený Našinec was a regional catholic daily newspaper published in Olomouc with a tradition of over 80 years. Despite the fact that this newspaper had in its lifetime many unpleasant influences, the communist takeover in February 1948 meant the definitive end of this newspaper. Osvobozený Našinec served mostly as a source of local information about life in Olomouc and until now hasn't been a subject of any deeper analysis. Firstly, the work deals with the development of newspaper from its establishment up until 1941 when publishing was stopped during the war. Osvobozený Našinec was published under the Czechoslovakian Popular Party after the Second World War and that is why part of the second chapter is devoted to this party and its development. The following chapter describes the situation in Czechoslovakia after the Second World War and the changes it brought in all aspects of life with regard to the press, the Olomouc region and the Czechoslovakian Popular Party. The fourth chapter deals with Osvobozený Našinec itself. Alongside general characteristics of the newspaper there is a focus on the influence of Czechoslovakian Popular Party on the newspaper, on its...

Ly, Monia January 2009 (has links)
It requires a mutual relationship between the parties. The purpose of this study was to illuminate newspaper legitimacy in relation to media content. The study used a qualitative approach and comprised two case studies, one morning- newspaper and one evening paper, which were the Göteborgs-Posten and the Göteborgs-Tidningen. The main theoretical issues concerning legitimacy were the definitions of legitimacy, impacts, factors of high and low credibility, news components and agenda setting. The conclusion was that both newspapers shared a degree of legitimacy, but with different implications. Neither the morning nor the evening paper seemed to believe whole-heartedly in objective information.</p>
