Simulando Dennett: ferramentas e construções de um naturalista / Simulating Dennett: tools and constructions of a naturalist

Diego Caleiro 19 March 2014 (has links)
This dissertation intends to provide the reader with an inner simulation of Daniel Dennetts form of reasoning, spreading over his whole philosophy, emphasizing his treatment of patterns, the evolutionary algorithm, consciousness, and his use of illata, abstracta, semantic, and synthax, to carve nature at its joints, especially biology and the human mind. It recasts, in a new light, great part of his most important ideas, and reverse engineers what made him think in particular ways, walking the reader through similar pathways, fostering an active learning of a thinking style, above and beyond a mere exposition of the results obtained by this thinking style over the years

Olhar indígena e olhar indigenista para a literatura infantil brasileira: representações da temática indígena por Ciça Fittipaldi e Daniel Munduruku / Look the other and look indigenous to indigenous Brazilian children\'s literature: representations of indigenous issues by Ciça Fittipaldi and Daniel Munduruku

Andréa Castelaci Martins 16 October 2013 (has links)
This thesis aims to analyze, from a comparative perspective, the works: Kaba Darebu and the tortoise The adventures of Daniel Mundurukú and short history of people and animal, of Ciça Fittipaldi, in view of the cultural specificities of each author and how they reflect on their productions, as well as highlight features of their ideological and aesthetic designs. Taking into account the principles of comparative studies, another focus of analysis will be dialogues between each writer with other areas of knowledge, such as anthropology, art and education, considering both the academic and his professional performance. Taking into account the weights of Antonio Candido with respect to the influences of the social and political context in the literature, this paper will also address the 11,645 law - which establishes the teaching of social and cultural contributions of African peoples and indigenous Brazilian schools - and the possibility of reflection of the same in the literary production of indigenous issues these authors.

A reading of Daniel Moyano\'s Libro de navíos y borrascas

Larissa Fostinone Locoselli 01 June 2012 (has links)
This dissertation proposes a critical reading of the Argentinean writer Daniel Moyanos novel Libro de navíos y borrascas, published in 1983. Such reading is built on the development of perspectives of analysis that consider, on the one hand, the narratives allegorical characteristics, and on the other hand, its narrator enunciation uniqueness, where the exile experience is the articulating axis of our critical approach. Walter Benjamins theory on allegory and narration, as well as the relations between enunciation and subjectivity, considered from Benvenistes, Ricardo Piglias and Giorgio Agambens reflections, provide us some of the most fundamental theoretical foundation on the outline of a reflection on how language and experience define Libro de navíos y borrascass narrative as an exile fiction. In an attempt to contribute towards consolidating the critical fortune of Daniel Moyanos work, a scarcely studied author both in Argentina and Brazil, our study considers aesthetical and historical factors regarding the novels context of production, as well as certain conceptions of its author about literary writing and critical perspectives that dedicated themselves to the 1980s Argentinean fiction, produced under the latest military regime lived by that country.

Mensbeeld, etnisiteit en kultuurpluralisme by N. Glazer en D.P. Moynihan.

Landman, Jan Christoffel Hendrik 12 November 2015 (has links)
M.Phil. (Philosophy) / The author's choice of a theme is practical. It is a cultural-philosophical analysis·of the views of GLAZER and MOYNUlAN on ethnicity. 1 The result is studied and viewed in relation to philosophical anthropology and the ·genetic method of explanation of culture of CA VAN PEURSEN and by means of his cultural-historfcal three-tier development of the mythological, successively followed by the ontological and the functional. The author then suggests the. principle of sovereignty, within the limited sphere of competence of social structures within the same cultural ·entity to overcome the dialectic struggle for supremacy between social structures (i.e.: nation and state or church and state, etc). Linking this the writer offers a structural analysis of state versus nation (volk) and also rejects a dualistic (soul versus body) concept of man, preferring the model of man as a single integrated existential being. The author finds the views of GLAZER and MOYNIHAN are that ethnic identification is a natural and inevitable fact of human existence. It has its positive aspects (providing identity ... support ... security) and its negative aspects (encouraging isolation ... ethnocentrism ... conflict ... etc). By rejecting humanistic individualism and integration as ideological (therefore ontological) and ethnicity as practical · (therefore functional), and urging governments to recognise ethnicity within the framework of plural democracy, they by implication become the proponents of ethnicity, and culture with them becomes cultural determinism. By so doing they also derived and subscribed to some inevitable pre-empirical and therefore theoretical-philosophical concepts re group identity and the relation betwe€n soul and body and culture versus physical environment. Within each of the cultural-historical development phases posed by VAN PEURSEN the author finds that group identity as the essence of ethnicity is after all, as proposed by GLAZER and MOYNIHAN not so new, and that ethnicity during the course of history was always coined to the supremacy of an identity carrying social structure (i.e. the state in Greek culture; the church in Roman Catholicism; race in national-socialism; the individual in humanistic liberalism; and the state in dialectic materialism; etc). It is in the functional, practical realm that ethnicity has gained ground during the latter part of this century. The rediscovery of group identity signals the bancruptcy of ontological individualism and the appearance of pragmatism, existensialism and the dramatic growth of cultural anthropology and new-conservatism. The author sees existensial man as a unitary being and by so doing disacknowledges an inner spiritual world of the soul against the outer world of nature and body. This one-ness of man makes culture his first nature and not his second, as suggested by GLAZER and MOYNIHAN. Mans cultural identity is expressed in a variety of social structures and by utilysing the principle of sovereignty within each structural sphere of competence, the author wishes to avoid ethnicity or group identity being captured by one structure (i.e. race in national socialism and volk/nation in ethnocentrism) and thereby becoming an operationalism.

[en] CAUTIOUS REDUCTIONIST OR SCIENTIFICIST USURPER? DANIEL DENNETT´S THEORY OF CONSCIOUSNESS / [pt] REDUCIONISTA PRUDENTE OU USURPADOR CIENTIFICISTA?: A TEORIA DA CONSCIÊNCIA DE DANIEL DENNETT

GABRIEL JUCA DE HOLLANDA 28 May 2007 (has links)
[en] Daniel Dennett, one of the most controversial contemporary philosophers, advances a materialistic theory of consciousness, according to which human subjectivity can be totally reduced to physical phenomena. Some philosophers, such as David Chalmers and John Searle, consider this perspective an imposture, a harmful and distorting kind of reductionism. Dennett´s theory has also attracted criticism from materialistic philosophers such as Paul Churchland, and from enthusiasts of husserlian phenomenology. This work aims to investigate how well Dennett´s theory does when facing such objections.

Leblond, Stéphane 17 April 2018 (has links)
