Forschendes Lernen: konzeptuelle Grundlagen und Potenziale digitaler Medien

Dürnberger, Hannah, Reim, Bettina, Hofhues, Sandra 25 October 2011 (has links)

The Defender vs. the Censor: CDA Analysis of 2017 Russian Web-Source Ban in Ukraine

Sliesarieva, Anna January 2020 (has links)
With the new challenges of the digital world associated with disinformation, data breaches, and cybercrimes (Cadwalladr & Graham-Harrison, 2018; Connolly et al., 2016; Shipley & Bowker, 2013) many countries nowadays discuss approaches to Internet regulation. In Ukraine, which faced propaganda tactics employed by Russia as a part of the Ukrainian-Russian conflict (Yurkova, 2018), the need for information security in recent years became a major challenge. In 2017, authorities of Ukraine addressed the challenge by introducing sanctions to the most-used Russian web-platforms, including social networks Vkontakte and Odnoklassniki, search engine Yandex, and many other services. This study analyzed the discourse that was formed around the decision. The work incorporates the model of critical discourse analysis by Fairclough (1995a) and framing analysis by Pan & Kosicki (1993). This qualitative study analyzed materials from Ukrainian online media, TV stories, user comments, and political speeches from 16th-17th May 2017 – the dates when the decision on blocking of Russian web-sources was announced to the Ukrainian public. The research answers the questions about the dominant discourses in society regarding the approach of the authorities to Internet regulation, the main arguments and counter-arguments, and media framing. The results show that the discussion was locked in a trap of two dominant discourses of freedom of speech and national security, whereas alternative measures to restrictions were not represented on the public agenda.

The Ecocritical Instapoet: Digital Media Ecofeminist Poetry

Gawrieh Ekmark, Yara January 2022 (has links)
In recent years, a new poetry genre has emerged, currently known as Instapoetry, and its chief practitioners are often young females (Pâquet 2019). Instapoetry has many characteristics influenced by the nature of the Instagram platform on which it is published, such as its brevity and its inclusion of visual effects with the text. However, its resemblance and links to older forms of modernist and post-modernist poetry are undeniable; such as its use of symbolism, expressionism, its move away from tradition, and its sense of activism. The “retrofitting” (Chasar 2020) of modernist poetic themes and formats for a digital medium opens up new possibilities for new ways of thinking. I suggest that this new format which can be seen as restrictive, allows for an opening and for new modes of subjectivity. Instapoetry engages feelings and ideas through an inclusive approach and that is essentially what gives it its potential as an activist and educational facility. Through its penchant for activism, Instapoetry engages in a metamodernist global consciousness shift, which Luke Turner defines as a move away beyond postmodernism and an “emergence of a palpable collective desire for change” (Turner 2015).  Female Instapoets often employ nature motifs in their Instapoetry, however, the nature motif is portrayed as something that connects, contrary to the restrictive sense often applied by patriarchal systems. In order to break away from a simplistic reading of Instapoetry as a poetic genre completely closed in by algorithms and word limits and to show the openings that this poetic genre allows, I suggest a new name “Digital Media Ecofeminist Poetry.” I attempt a qualitative methodology, through close reading of various Instapoems by female Instapoets, to demonstrate their nuanced use of form, language, and visuality and I examine the ways in which the digital medium influences this new form of poetry.

My Perception of Reality Expressed through the Arts

Dunker, Amanda 01 May 2022 (has links)
This thesis project will focus on the symbolism and artistic interpretation of how I perceive reality. This thesis project uses all artistic skills that I have acquired throughout my lifetime and combines them into one mixed digital media video. This is a mix between the two digital media formats 2D and 3D. Each animation and segment syncs with the music selected manually or technically. The process of creation for each segment and explaining which software I choose to use for each task. It also dives a little further, noting the artistic decisions and why. The symbolism used within the art piece is addressed and explained. Anything not discussed is open to personal interpretation and encourages the viewers to think individually further into the topics. The usage of this art style / art form is discussed and researched on where it can be found in usage outside of the music industry. Also, stating the popularity and accreditation this style receives from casually mass viewing. In summary, the art style of surrealism and abstract shapes in addition to the art form of mixed digital media, consumers indulge this art archetype worldwide. It can be useable within music visuals, ambient relaxation, modern art galleries, video games, and progressive advertising. Thus, making this art viable in multiple parts of the economy and creating consistent trends of revenue increasing. With the consistent growth of technology use, complimentary style to electronic music, and viable formatting for social media this art style is predicted to drastically grow in demand within the next coming years.

Teaching Creativity and Game Design: Postmortem on a Game Design and Testing Class

Emma, Todd 01 January 2011 (has links)
Can you teach someone to be a video game designer? This was the principal question behind the experimental class "Game Design & Testing" taught summer 2009 and again in 2010 at East Tennessee State University. The class did not attempt to encompass the technical aspects of video game modeling or scripting. It was focused on the possibilities of teaching students how to recognize, create and critique distinct game elements, then design interesting games around the concepts they learned. What makes a game fun, what makes some games memorable, what does it take to create balance in a game, what goes into making a game that is easy to learn and difficult to master, these were some of the questions set to the students throughout the semester?

Att uppnå förtroende inom digital media : En kvalitativ studie om framgångsfaktorer för trovärdighet i reklamfilm

Bengtén Ejlestam, Olivia, Lankinen, Madelene, Winberg, Amalia January 2022 (has links)
Digital media productions today, specifically commercials, are often designed to address and appeal to its audience in numerous ways, one important aspect being credibility. This study aims to locate the most essential parts of how to create credible moving image productions and how to establish trust amongst its viewers. Previous research shows that areas such as storytelling, representation and technology are important to create reliability in a media production. Three qualitative semi structured interviews, along with two focus groups consisting of five respondents each, were carried out to gather the data needed. The data was coded, concluded, analyzed and discussed to find the most vital elements in establishing trust. Six main topics were found and narrowed down to three areas which were concluded to create credibility. The six topics are honesty, message, recognition, audio and depiction, continuity and characters. These are summarized as narrative, representation and technical aspects. When these areas are considered and acted upon, credibility and trust amongst viewers can be successfully created.
