The work establishes a broad dialogue with several authors who reflect on the history of scientific publication, the evolution of magazines printed for the electronic media, especially the digital ones, the current principles of science for dissemination, the virtual reading, open access, and the curricular narrative. The instruments for collecting data were the researcher's field diary, the list of discussion created for the group of instructors from e-Curriculum magazine, recorded chats, recorded videos, testimonial e-mail of the subjects, letters of indexing organizations and a CD-ROM of the historical archives of e-Curriculum magazine. The research on the participatory action model provided the necessary engagement to hear the speeches of subjects who lived intensely the universe of the creation of a journal, enabling to confirm that, from the subject-authors perspective, the technological media are spaces of preparation and creation of new locations for the spread and dissemination of research, as spaces for learning socialization. The thesis shows that the electronic journals, in any area of knowledge, need to be explained through research for their existence. The investigation indicates that it is possible to create a journal in postgraduate programs and concludes that it is necessary to open up intense dialogues in these programs for the development of science in the country. It is not enough to produce magazines without their correspondent political-pedagogical effort for their use and effectiveness in the research domain. Finally, it was concluded that it is possible to construct a curricular narrative from the journey, from the search for the construction of pedagogical and social utopias, without losing or failing to develop the prescriptive curriculum / Este estudo situa-se na linha de pesquisa Novas Tecnologias e Educação, procura descrever e anal isar o processo de const rução de uma revista cientí fica elet rônica em Educação e Currículo, por um grupo de alunos do Doutorado do Programa de Pós-graduação Educação: Currículo de 2004 da PUC-SP.

Bio-inspired Approaches for Informatio Dissemination in Ad hon Networks / Approches Bio-inspirées pour diffusion de l’information dans les réseaux ad hoc

Medetov, Seytkamal 19 December 2014 (has links)
Information dissemination in Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs) is a fundamental operation to increase the safety awareness among vehicles on roads. Thus, the design and implementation of efficient and scalable algorithms for relevant information dissemination constitutes a major issue that should be tackled. In this work, bio-inspired information dissemination approaches are proposed, that use self-organization principles of swarms such as Ant and Honey Bee colonies. These approaches are targeted to provide each vehicle with the required information about its surrounding and assist drivers to be aware of undesirable road conditions. In the first approach, Ant’s direct and indirect communication systems are used. Ants share information about food findings with colony members by throwing pheromone on the returning to the nest. The second, an RSU-based approach is inspired by the Bee communication system. Bees share profitable food sources with hive-mates in their hive by specific messages.A “relevance” value associated to the emergency messages is defined as an analogue to pheromone throwing in Ant colony, and as an analogue to profitability level in Bee colony, to disseminate safety information within a geographical area. Simulations are conducted using NS2 network simulator and relevant metrics are evaluated under different node speeds and network densities to show the effectiveness of the proposed approaches.

Analysis and Design of Vehicular Networks

Wu, Hao 18 November 2005 (has links)
Advances in computing and wireless communication technologies have increased interest in smart vehicles, vehicles equipped with significant computing, communication and sensing capabilities to provide services to travelers. Smart vehicles can be exploited to improve driving safety and comfort as well as optimize surface transportation systems. Wireless communications among vehicles and between vehicles and roadside infrastructures represent an important class of vehicle communications. One can envision creating an integrated radio network leveraging various wireless technologies that work together in a seamless fashion. Based on cost-performance tradeoffs, different network configurations may be appropriate for different environments. An understanding of the properties of different vehicular network architectures is absolutely necessary before services can be successfully deployed. Based on this understanding, efficient data services (e.g., data dissemination services) can be designed to accommodate application requirements. This thesis examines several research topics concerning both the evaluation and design of vehicular networks. We explore the properties of vehicle-to-vehicle (v2v) communications. We study the spatial propagation of information along the road using v2v communications. Our analysis identifies the vehicle traffic characteristics that significantly affect information propagation. We also evaluate the feasibility of propagating information along a highway. Several design alternatives exist to build infrastructure-based vehicular networks. Their characteristics have been evaluated in a realistic vehicular environment. Based on these evaluations, we have developed some insights into the design of future broadband vehicular networks capable of adapting to varying vehicle traffic conditions. Based on the above analysis, opportunistic forwarding that exploit vehicle mobility to overcome vehicular network partitioning appears to be a viable approach for data dissemination using v2v communications for applications that can tolerate some data loss and delay. We introduce a methodology to design enhanced opportunistic forwarding algorithms. Practical algorithms derived from this methodology have exhibited different performance/overhead tradeoffs. An in-depth understanding of wireless communication performance in a vehicular environment is necessary to provide the groundwork for realizing reliable mobile communication services. We have conducted an extensive set of field experiments to uncover the performance of short-range communications between vehicles and between vehicles and roadside stations in a specific highway scenario.
