Utveckling av fröutmatningsenhet till såmaskiner : Med fokus på jämn fördelning och kontrollerad utmatningshastighet / Development of Seed Dispensing Unit for Seed Drills : With Focus on Uniform Distribution and Controlled Dispensing VelocityOhlén, Kajsa, Eriksson, Oscar January 2024 (has links)
This master thesis was conducted during the spring of 2024 at Väderstad AB. Väderstad manufactures agricultural machines, including two types of seed drills used to plant seeds: conventional seed drills and precision planters. The primary difference lies in the seed dispensing unit, which distributes the seeds from storage before planting. Conventional seed drills utilize randomness to distribute seeds, while precision planters use a complex unit that dispenses seeds one by one. The precision seed dispensing unit comes at a higher cost and requires more space, resulting in wider row spacing compared to conventionalseed drills. A low row distance is desired to maximize crop yield. This master thesis aims to develop a seed dispensing unit which can be used for a new type of seed drill. The seed dispensing unit intends to be smaller and less costly than the ones for precision planters, while achieving a better seed distribution than the conventional seed drills. The product development was carried out through a tailored process for this project, incorporating methods such as Blackbox, Brainwriting, and Pugh’s concept selection matrix. The process generated three concepts which were modeled in CAD and printed using a 3D printer. The models underwent functional assessment and seeding capacity testing, followed by redesign, reprinting, and testing in an iterative process. The master thesis resulted in two concepts which were presented for Väderstad. The first prototype consisted of a wheel with indentations. As the wheel rotated, the indentations picked up seeds and then released them into an airflow-assisted seed transport which sent the seeds into the ground. The second prototype featured a vertical screw that rotated upwards, distributing seeds evenly against the wall. This prototype also used an airflow-assisted seed transport. Presently, Väderstad has submitted a patent application for the screw concept and will continue its development within the company.

Anatomic intra-articular reconstruction of the cranial cruciate ligament in dogs: The femoral tunnel / Anatomische intra-artikuläre Rekonstruktion des vorderen Kreuzbandes beim Hund: Der femorale BohrkanalBolia, Amalia 09 May 2016 (has links) (PDF)
Objective: Cranial cruciate ligament (CrCL) pathology is the most frequent cause of lameness in dogs. In contrast to human medicine, where anatomic reconstruction of the ACL is considered the treatment of choice, intra-articular repair in dogs is not commonly performed and until now has not met with enduring success. Accurate tunnel placement has been shown to be crucial in obtaining a successful outcome after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction in humans. The first aim of our study was to define the radiographic location of the center of the femoral attachment of the CrCL in dogs, for the pre- operative planning as well as post-operative control of anatomical placement of the femoral tunnel. Second aim of the study was to develop and validate an aiming device for arthroscopic femoral tunnel placement.
Materials and Methods: A. Radiographic study: Using femora from 49 adult, orthopedically sound dogs (BW ≥ 20 kg), a radiopaque marker was placed on the cranial border of the femoral footprint of the CrCL. Computed tomography and 3D reconstruction of each femur was performed subsequently, followed by manual segmentation of the footprint on the 3D models and calculation of its center. Finally, virtual digital radiographs in two planes were produced and the location of the calculated center of the CrCL was expressed using three different methods (4x4 box grid method and percentage position for the medio-lateral projection; o’clock position for the disto-proximal projection). B. Aiming device: Hindlimbs (n=12) of 6 cadaveric dogs weighing ≥20 kg were used. One hindlimb from each cadaver was randomly chosen and the caudo- cranial position of the CrCL center was calculated, on standard medio-lateral stifle radiographs, and transferred onto to an adjustable aiming device. During stifle arthroscopy the aiming device was inserted and guide pin placed from extra-to-intra-articular. The position of the resulting bone tunnel was evaluated on stifle radiographs and also compared with the anatomic center of each contralateral hindlimb, in the three dimensional (3D) space.
Results: A. Radiographic study: In the medio-lateral radiographs the center of the femoral footprint was consistently located in the second rectangle from the top of the most caudal column of the 4x4 grid. The mean percentage caudo- cranial and proximo-distal location was 20.2% (± 2.2) and 33.8% (± 3.7), respectively. In the disto-proximal radiograph, the o’clock position of the CrCL center was between 2 and 3 o’clock in 97.6% of the femora. B. Aiming device: According to the postoperative radiographs, the location of all 6 intra-articular tunnel openings was consistent with the results of the radiographic study. In 3D space, arthroscopic femoral drilling resulted in a median deviation of the drill tunnels of 0.6 mm around the CrCL center. All tunnel openings were located within the CrCL insertion.
Conclusions: The reported data can be used to plan and verify the placement of the femoral tunnel opening during intra-articular anatomic CrCL repair. The use of the aiming device suggests that arthroscopic femoral tunnel placement can be achieved with high precision. The measurement for the device can be derived from a standard medio-lateral radiograph of the stifle, which is part of the diagnostic work up of every dog with lameness localized in the stifle. The proposed technique may reduce femoral tunnel misplacement when performing intra-articular CrCL repair in dogs. In combination with the described technique for arthroscopic tibial tunnel drilling, arthroscopic assisted anatomic reconstruction of the CrCL in dogs can be achieved.

Fastställande av lineamentens karaktär med avseende på bergkvalitet enligt Qbas och RMRbas inför tunnel-konstruktion i Solna, Stockholm samt kvalitetsutvärdering av Astrock hyperdata report / Determining the Characteristics of the Lineaments in Terms of Rock Quality According to Qbase and RMRbase Prior to Tunnel Construction in Solna, Stockholm, and Quality Evaluation of Astrock Hyperdata ReportBurefalk Strauss, Martin, Rosko, Samuel January 2016 (has links)
Sweden's population is increasing every year, which means that cities must adapt their infrastructure to be able to follow the demographic trend. In the current situation, Stockholm plans a major expansion of its metro network where evaluating the bedrock quality is of paramount importance. For the new SL metro connection project Gula linjen that stretches between Odenplan and Arenastaden in Solna, the company WSP has previously done quality surveys of the bedrock in the area and dimensioning of the reinforcements in the planned tunnels. Previous survey of the lineaments and weakness zones in the area has been done by means of core drilling and observations in the field. This study examines if the lineaments in the area are associated to any structures below ground surface in the bedrock by examining rock samples from drill cores. A digital presentation tool called Astrock hyperdata report is evaluated in this study by comparing manual measurements of the orientation of the joints in drill cores and the software´s measurements. The studied bedrock in the drill cores varies in quality from very poor to very good. Further examinations of zones of particularly poor rock quality done in this study suggest that the two identified lineaments have different characteristics. The north-west/south-east lineament which runs parallel to the planned metro route is indicated to represent the surface trace of a water-bearing fracture zone in the bedrock. The lineament with the E/W direction is dominated by structures and fault rocks, such as fault gouge and crushed rock in the drill cores, which indicates a brittle deformation zone. For the Gula linjen project, this information becomes useful as the underground reinforcements such as bolting and grouting have to / Sveriges befolkning ökar varje år, vilket gör att städer måste anpassas och expandera för att kunna följa den demografiska utvecklingen.

Numerical analysis of the nonlinear dynamics of a drill-string with uncertainty modeling / Analyse numérique de la dynamique nonlinéaire d'une colonne de forage avec modélisation d'incertitudesRitto, Thiago 07 April 2010 (has links)
This thesis analyzes the nonlinear dynamics of a drill-string including uncertainty modeling. A drill-string is a slender flexible structure that rotates and digs into the rock in search of oil. A mathematical-mechanical model is developed for this structure including fluid-structure interaction, impact, geometrical nonlinearities and bit-rock interaction. After the derivation of the equations of motion, the system is discretized by means of the finite element method and a computer code is developed for the numerical computations using the software MATLAB. The normal modes of the dynamical system in the prestressed configuration are used to construct a reduced order model for the system. To take into account uncertainties, the nonparametric probabilistic approach, which is able to take into account both system-parameter and model uncertainties, is used. The probability density functions related to the random variables are constructed using the maximum entropy principle and the stochastic response of the system is calculated using the Monte Carlo method. A novel approach to take into account model uncertainties in a nonlinear constitutive equation (bit-rock interaction model) is developed using the nonparametric probabilistic approach. To identify the probabilistic model of the bit-rock interaction model, the maximum likelihood method together with a statistical reduction in the frequency domain (using the Principal Component Analysis) is applied. Finally, a robust optimization problem is performed to find the operational parameters of the system that maximizes its performance, respecting the integrity limits of the system, such as fatigue and instability

Characterization of petroleum well drill cutting by instrumental analytical techniques.Fagundes, Thais Bortotti 13 April 2018 (has links)
The present research aimed at characterization of the drill cuttings of an oil well belonging to the Santos Basin, using different instrumental analytical techniques. The main focus was given to the application of X-ray diffraction as an alternative to the routinely applied mud-logging study practices, where essentially visual classifications of the lithological units of the well are carried out and generally in fine granulation samples, giving uncertainties to the descriptions. A total of 164 samples of drill cuttings were chemically analyzed by X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy and classified according to their mineralogical similarities using the multivariate statistical analysis of X-ray diffraction data. This feature allowed minimizing the sample set for subsequent characterization studies. The identification and quantification mineral phases present in all samples, as well as the determination of the sizes and forms of the particles by dynamic images analysis, were carried out only in representative samples of each one of the defined groups of similarities. Results were compared with the data of the geological monitoring profile (drilling data) and the interpretations carried out in the mud-logging unit by geologist, and a high correlation between these data was identified. The viability of using a bench scale diffractometers during the drilling stage of an oil well was also studied considering the feasibility study on representative samples to be applied on site (adequate pulverization time and possible sampling errors) and quality of the results obtained by different X-ray diffraction equipment (collecting conditions and resolution of spikes). The use of bench diffractometers in the study of drill cutting proved to be feasible from the operational point of view, bringing several advantages for the correct characterization of the fragments, with better accuracy in the results, decrease of the uncertainties and a very agile tool.

A study of high performance twist drill design and the associated predictive force models.Zhang, Qiang, Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, UNSW January 2007 (has links)
This thesis presents a detailed analysis of the plane rake faced drill design, its grinding method and grinding wheel geometry. A fundamental geometrical analysis has then been carried out on the major cutting edges of the modified drills according to the national and international standards. It has been shown that this new drill design results in a significant increase in the normal rake angle at lips as well as point relieving at the chisel edge region. Geometrical models for the various drill point features have been established which uniquely define the drill point features of the modified drill design. A comprehensive experimental investigation has been carried out to study the drilling performance of the modified drills, when drilling a high tensile steel, ASSAB 4340, with TiN coated high speed steel drills over a wide range of drilling conditions. Comparing to the drilling performance with conventional twist drills under the corresponding conditions, it has been found that the modified drills can reduce the thrust force by as much as 46.9% with the average of 23.8%; the reduction of drilling torque is also significant at an average of 13.2% and the maximum of 24.9%. Similarly, the new drill design shows great superiorities over the conventional drills in terms of drill-life. In the drill-life tests, a few conventional drills were broken, but all plane rake faced drills performed very well. In order to estimate the cutting performance in process planning on a mathematical and quantitative basis when drilling with the modified drills, predictive cutting force models have been developed based on the unified-generalized mechanics of cutting approach. The models have been assessed qualitatively and quantitatively and showed good agreements with the experimental thrust, torque and power. Empirical-type force equations have also been developed to provide simple alternatives for practical applications.

Previous issue date: 2013-11-05 / Metal-ceramic interfaces are present in tricone drill bits with hard ceramic inserts for oil well drilling operations. The combination of actions of cutting, crushing and breaking up of rocks results in the degradation of tricone drill bits by wear, total or partial rupture of the drill bit body or the ceramic inserts, thermal shock and corrosion. Also the improper pressfitting of the ceramic inserts on the bit body may cause its total detachment, and promote serious damages to the drill bit. The improvement on the production process of metal-ceramic interfaces can eliminate or minimize some of above-mentioned failures presented in tricone drill bits, optimizing their lifetime and so reducing drilling metric cost. Brazing is a widely established technique to join metal-ceramic materials, and may be an excellent alternative to the common mechanical press fitting process of hard ceramic inserts on the steel bit body for tricone drill bit. Wetting phenomena plays an essential role in the production of metal/ceramic interfaces when a liquid phase is present in the process. In this work, 72Silver-28Copper eutectic based brazing alloys were melted onto zirconia, silicon nitride and tungsten carbide/Co substrates under high vacuum. Contact angle evolution was measured and graphically plotted, and the interfaces produced were analysed by SEM-EDX. The AgCu eutectic alloy did not wet any ceramic substrates, showing high contact angles, and so without chemical interaction between the materials. Better results were found for the systemns containing 3%wt of titanium in the AgCu alloy. [en] EVALUATION OF DRILL BIT PERFORMANCE TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE IN SITU STRESSES / [es] EVALUACIÓN DEL DESEMPEÑO DE BROCAS DE PERFORACIÓN CONSIDERANDO EL ESTADO DE TENSIONES IN SITU / [pt] AVALIAÇÃO DO DESEMPENHO DE BROCAS DE PERFURAÇÃO LEVANDO EM CONTA O ESTADO DE TENSÕES IN SITUFRANCISCO JOSE NUNES DE CASTRO 17 April 2001 (has links)
imediatamente abaixo do fundo do poço.
geomecânico do poço.
[en] The present dissertation describes a correlation between
the bit performance and the state of stress acting upon the
rock formation located immediately beneath the bottom of
the wellbore. Bit performance data from 6 wells drilled
offshore Brazil were collected and anlyzed. In order to
reduce the empiricism associated with this type of data
analysis, a study is being put forward that considers the
geomechanical log along the drilled wellbore. The
geomechanical log of a given rock formation is composed of
its mechanical properties (Young's modulus, Poisson's
Ratio, unconfined compressive strength, internal friction
angle, etc.) as well as formation fluid pressure and in
situ total stresses. The dissertation shows the metodology
to evaluate the stresses at the bottom of the wellbore
through a 3D finite element program. Trough these stresses
it is possible to define an index of plastification ahead
of the drill bit, and bit performance is rated taking this
index into account. Some of the wells analyzed were drilled
in deep water locations, and the initial results obtained
herein, showed a great potential for better understanding
for the good and bad performances, regarding the rate of
penetration of the drill bit evaluation will be put forward
with the great potential for drilling cost savings.

One third of dental emergencies and a high percentage of toothaches are endodontics related. Rotary instruments employed in endodontic treatment may break inside the root canal due to material fatigue. Once broken, extracting the fractured part from the canal is a difficult job and is annoying to both the patient and the dentist. Therefore, warning of an imminent fracture during clinical use or developing good strategies to increase its mechanical properties will be a great help to avoid medical/ legal complications. The research is studied from two parts. The first part established a standard testing platform, simulating several root canal parameters, proposing a series of strategies to improve the fatigue life and material's mechanical properties. Also, a monitoring system employing Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensors has been attempted. The reason of using FBG is its small size which is very promising in integrating with the handpiece of the endodontic equipment. In the current work, by picking up and analyzing the stress wave through Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), we can reveal the energy variation and the frequency shifting phenomenon under some characteristic frequencies. It is hoped that with these information, we can avoid/alleviate the occurrence of unexpected fracture. As for the fatigue test, data showed that the fatigue life can be improved when certain heat treatment or reciprocating rotation method applied. Such phenomenon may be closely related to the phase composition in Ni-Ti Alloy and the maximum tension stress is decreased when reciprocating movement applied. Studies showed that the more content of martensite phase in the needle, the more fatigue life can be achieved. However, it may need to take compromise with needle's cutting efficiency. For this issue, we can combine cryogenic treatment and heat treatment to get better fatigue life without compromising with its cutting efficiency. The second part is to fabricate high resolution, large size of new type endodontic needles by employing two-photon polymerization (TTP) technique. The work is done in the university of Joseph-Fourier LiPhy lab, France. Unlike traditional TPP manufacturing, which had a limitation of its products size due to small lase power, repetition rate and piezo driven stage, we use Ormocer resin, 130 kHz, 1W powerful 532 nm laser with step motor driven X-Y stage to fabricate high bio-compatible 800 µm cell scaffold and 1.2 cm height needle. Also, to improve the product quality of TPP, the laser power correction approach had been attempted. During TPP fabrication, the laser focusing shape changed when the fabrication surface was moved up in z direction. This results in that we need more power to ensure the voxel size is the same at different z. To correct such defect, a method of the laser power correction and formula for the correcting power are proposed. The formula is derived from the concept of keeping exposure condition the same.
