Study the Dynamics of Strategic Maneuvering - System Dynamics thinking

Lee, Jung-chang 30 August 2004 (has links)
The analysis of economic environment is the basis of well managerial decisions for enterprises. However, the relationship among economic variables in the real world is a kind of dynamic complexity problem. Economics usually take advantage of mathematics to solve this kind of problem. Therefore, it will be very difficult for business administrators to analyze the long-term dynamics competitive. This study integrated system dynamics thinking and dynamics of strategic maneuvering to build a systems feedback model of dynamic competitive environment, which can be used to analyze the long-term dynamics of competitive variables under different scenarios, including the dynamic thinking of growth and core competitive strategy. Linked with balanced scorecard interface, the model will become a decision support system of dynamic competitive analysis, which can provide business administrators with the analytic tool of dynamics competitive environment to improve their decision qualities concerning finance, production, and marketing.

The Relationship Between Firm Characteristics and Competitive Responding Speed: A Study of Smartphone Industry

Hsu, Chien-chun 30 July 2012 (has links)
This study discusses competitive interaction between smartphone manufacturers by the view of dynamic competitive. Focusing on 20 brands which have entered Taiwan smartphone market, this study collected the time of innovation behavior (technical innovation, appearance innovation and marking innovation) from Internet and smartphone magazine. There are five variables in this thesis which include firm country, firm diversity, firm outsourcing, firm age and firm size, and to the three innovation behaviors, (technical innovation, appearance innovation and marking innovation), this study proposes fifteen hypothesizes. In order to explore the relationship between firm characteristics and competitive responding speed. Using the Cox proportional hazard model in survival analysis, this study shows the result that the manufacturers respond faster while they have lower diversity and large scale.

Leading Companies’ and Followers’ Innovation Activities

Chen, Yu An Unknown Date (has links)
The present study investigates the role of granted patents in determining industry competition and operating performance. The sample consists of Chinese public and private companies in the pharmaceutical industry from 1999 to 2010. The findings show that the quantity of patent is positively associated with operating performance and that the change of patent count is also positively associated with the ranking of market share. Moreover, the results show that the change of patent counts of leading companies has a positive impact on followers’ innovation activities and marketing activities. Overall, the evidence suggests that patent plays an important role in company competition and that companies response to the R&D(patent)strategy of their competitors in the market.

The interactive relationship between brand owners' competitive behaviors and retailers' competitive behaviors

Chen, Jen Hao Unknown Date (has links)

The Computer Virus Pattern and Interaction of Virus & Anti-Virus Companies

Unknown Date (has links)
Most papers from the traditional business school discuss the competitions among manufacturers, and focus on the interactions between organizations and between groups. However, in this paper, we propose another type of competition - the competition between the hacker (composed by the individuals or non-regular organization) and the manufacturer (organizations or groups). Here, we take the interaction between virus and anti-virus software manufacturers as example to describe the 3 dimensions among computer virus, anti-virus software manufactures and their contests. In this thesis, we take virus as the evil side and expect to dig out the motivation and behavior of the hackers, and then we take the anti-virus software manufactures as the counter side to discuss the interaction between virus and anti-virus software. Finally, we sum up the 5 innovative characteristics of the virus: the skill is deeper, the incidence is bigger, the spreading speed is faster, the virus behavior is smarter and the industrial structure is more robust. In this thesis, there are 3 unprecedented distributions: first, we propose the innovative concept by using the disutility characteristic of virus; second, we breakthrough the restriction that only taking the single parameter into consideration, and we take the total system viewpoints into consideration to discuss its characteristics; third, instead of quantification, experimentation, and sub-data collection, we do the research through the interview and the field work. In this thesis, we wish to eliminate morals constraints, just consider its innovative concept, and not mean to encourage or commend it. Furthermore, we expect to provide the enterprises another way to think about this new concept, and apply it in research and development management, innovation management, marketing management, strategy management, and so on. We believe that there will be some other different innovative solutions.
