Software Performance Prediction : using SPEGyarmati, Erik, Stråkendal, Per January 2002 (has links)
Performance objectives are often neglected during the design phase of a project, and performance problems are often not discovered until the system is implemented. Therefore, there is a need from the industry to find a method to predict the performance of a system early in the design phase. One method that tries to solve this problem is the Software Performance Engineering (SPE) method. This report gives a short introduction to software performance and an overview of the SPE method for performance prediction. It also contains a case study where SPE is applied on an existing system.

Blom, Louis 09 January 2008 (has links)
The continent of Africa shows the fastest growth of Christianity worldwide. Today more than half of the people of Africa consider themselves to be Christians. Nonetheless not much have changed for the African in terms of day-to-day circumstances. Poverty, famine, various diseases as well as civil wars plague the continent. The gospel of Jesus Christ surely does not only save a soul, but also brings the blessing of God. The people of Africa desperately needs the full impact and blessing of the gospel, that will inevitably also improve their quality of life. Evangelism models that are currently working in Africa fails at a holistic approach. In the execution of the great commandment, the teaching and discipleship aspects still need a lot of attention in Africa. Preachers and members need to work together on all levels to transform our communities with the gospel. The passion for lost people needs restoration, and a holistic evangelism strategy must be developed. In this regard the evangelism stragegy of Silvoso can make some contribution in the African context as the importance of prayer in evangelism should not be neglected. The church in Africa is also experiencing a crisis. How is Christianity really doing in Africa? Considering the culture and traditions of the African people, it is obvious that Christianity will function differently than in the Western context. The African people need a church that is culturally relevant, to be effectively reached for Christ. Co-operation between leaders from all backgrounds in South-Africa is vital to achieve this goal. South-Africa presents a wonderful opportunity for the church to bless and uplift our people. The gospel of Jesus Christ in all its dimensions and with all its blessings has the power to transform our nation. / Dr. G.J. Basson

The Effect of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance on Fruit and Vegetable Consumption in ArizonaSaito, Asumi, Saito, Asumi January 2017 (has links)
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is the largest domestic hunger safety net program in the United States. It has been shown that SNAP increases households' purchasing power. However, only a quarter of Americans follow recommended healthy eating patterns. Hence, there is a question whether the additional income from SNAP transfers to healthier eating. This paper addresses three questions. First, what factors explain SNAP participation of low-income individuals in addition to basic income eligibility requirements? Second, does SNAP participation increase fruit and vegetable consumption? Third, what effect does the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) in Arizona have on fruit and vegetable consumption for low-income households? The data used in this study were drawn from two waves of the Arizona Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System survey. The study found people in Arizona ate fruits, on average 1.4 times per day and vegetables 1.6 times per day. Marital and household arrangement status significantly affected both SNAP participation and fruit and vegetable consumption, but effects for men and women differed. Distance from services assisting with SNAP enrollment appeared to have no negative effect on eligible respondent enrollment. People living in counties with more SNAP-Ed contractors per person below 125% of the poverty line consumed more fruits and vegetables, but the effect was only marginally significant. Future research should consider more geographically specific measures of SNAP-Ed reach.

Awareness and Motivation in Collaborative Practice for Disaster ManagementFalconi, Michael January 2015 (has links)
Disasters are prevalent worldwide and there is a need to engage high-risk populations in collaborative disaster management activities to improve resilience that is inclusive of the whole community (Enarson, & Walsh, 2007). It is clear from extant literature that awareness has a supportive influence on collaboration, however there is need for a better understanding of how this interaction activates action toward collaborative disaster management activities (Mendoza et al., 2014; Na, Okada, & Fang, 2009), especially for high-risk populations (Enarson, & Walsh, 2007). Thus the purpose of this study was to understand how awareness activated individuals to collaborate in the EnRiCH asset-mapping task, to engage high-risk populations in disaster management activities and improve community resilience in future disasters. In this study we used qualitative content analysis to analyze audio-recorded semi-structured interviews to identify concepts and emergent themes. Self-Determination Theory (Deci & Ryan, 2008) and the ED Model of Awareness (Kuziemsky & O’Sullivan, under review) were used as a framework for the study. Findings and elements of Self-Determination Theory were used to expand the ED Model of Awareness to demonstrate how awareness motivates collaborative action. This study concludes that awareness influences the psychological needs of competence and relatedness, both positively and negatively in different contexts, to motivate individuals toward collaboration and sustained action. This is depicted in the extended ED Model of Awareness and Action to demonstrate how awareness is situated in the interaction between the psychological needs, motivation, and collaborative action.

O processo civil entre o jurídico e o econômico : o caráter institucional e estratégico do fenômeno processualAbreu, Rafael Sirangelo Belmonte de January 2018 (has links)

The Red State Revolt The Uniqueness of Arizona's Red for Ed Teacher's MovementJanuary 2020 (has links)
abstract: The ongoing Red for Ed movement in Arizona sparks an interesting discussion on its place as a social movement. This thesis examines the movement in close detail, particularly in regard to how it fits within the social movement literature’s insider/outsider framework. While partisanship is clearly important for understanding movement successes and failures, this study goes beyond party to explore through the case of Arizona how teacher movements are constrained by 1) teacher associations that operate as outsiders to state politics and 2) school districts that isolate the problem priorities (funding; teacher pay) from gaining large-scale public reaction that can be leveraged to change state policy. In short, I show how teacher movements face significant institutional barriers that localize their messaging and prevent insider access from state politics. / Dissertation/Thesis / Masters Thesis Social Justice and Human Rights 2020

Stanovení sulfamethizolu pomocí uhlíkových pastových elektrod / Determination of sulfamethizole using carbon paste electrodesMikeš, Miroslav January 2012 (has links)
The proposed Thesis deals with the electrochemical behavior of sulfamethizole on carbon paste electrodes. Sulfamethizole is a sulfonamide antibiotic effective against a number of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. In human medicine, the most frequent application is for the treatment of urinary tract. In veterinary medicine, it is used for the and preventive treatment of both aquatic and terrestic animals. Due to the wide utilization and low metabolization, it also presents an environmental burden. The development of quick and sensitive methods for the determination in both biological and pharmaceutical matrices is therefore important. This Thesis deals with the search of optimum conditions for differential pulse voltammetric determination of sulfamethizole in tablets Micturol sedante, used for the treatment of urinary tract. The method uses Britton-Robinson (B-R) buffer pH 7 and reaches detection limit 0,39 µmol·l-1 . Results of the method complied with the manufacturer's information and with the results of spectrophotometric determination. In the other part of the work, conditions for the determination of sulfamethizole determination in urine samples. Fonund conditions were: Lichrospher® RP-18, 100 (5 µm), 125×4 mm, (LichroCART) column, mobile phase B-R buffer pH 3 : methanol (7:3, v/v) and...
