Åtta svenska elitfotbollsspelares syn på idrottspsykologiska rådgivare / Eight swedish elite soccerplayers perception on sport psychology consultants

Enoksson, Marcus, Lindberg, David January 2016 (has links)
The main purpose of the study was to examine elite soccer players perceptions of which barriers and possibilities exists in order to give sport psychology consultants entry in a soccer organization. Another purpose was to examine what characterizes a successful sport psychology consultant in their cooperation with elite soccer players. The population was eight swedish elite soccer players. The criteria to be included in the study, was that the athletes had pertained a first team squad in an elite soccer organization (Allsvenskan and Superettan) in the season of 2015. Data collection was done through qualitative approach, through interviews and was analyzed by qualitative content analysis. The results showed the athletes pointed out more barriers than possibilities to give the sport psychology consultant entry in an organization, where skepticism towards sport psychology was mentioned as an example. Regarding characteristics the results showed that the athletes had more consensuses in relation to the barriers and possibilities that appeared. Finally the authors discuss suggestions in terms of future research, methodology reflections and implications.

Distraktioners påverkan på prestation och kognitiv belastning hos elitspelande golfare / Distractions affects on performance and cognitive load of elite golfers

Weiderman, Andreas, Thelander, Isac January 2024 (has links)
The purpose of the present study was to investigate how distraction affects the performance and cognitive load of elite golfers. A design with randomized repeated measurements was conducted at Golfarenan in Halmstad, where participants were asked to perform four conditions with 9 putts in each. Three out of four conditions included more than one task description (i.e. distraction or distractions). Cognitive load was measured using the NASA-TLX form, where participants self-assessed their experiences after each condition. Sixteen participants completed the experiment with ages ranging from 19 to 29 (M=22.19, SD=6.28). The participants actively play at the national elite level and have handicaps ranging from +0.1 to +4 (M=+2.68, SD=1.34). Based on previous empirical evidence and the ACT and PET theories, two hypotheses were formulated and tested using two one-way repeated measures ANOVA. The analysis revealed that participants performed worse in all conditions when distraction in the form of dual tasks was implemented. Overall, the results contribute to an updated knowledge base in the dual task and cognitive load of elite golfers. The knowledge gained from this study can be applied by participants and readers to enhance their own golf performance.

Tea Time: A Comparative Analysis of the Tea Party Caucus and House Republican Conference in the One Hundred Twelfth Congress

Phillips, Stephen 01 January 2014 (has links)
Following the historic election of Barack Obama, the largest overhaul of the nation's health care system since the Great Society, and with the country still reeling from the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression, a group of disenchanted conservative Republicans and elected leaders wary of government policy gave rise to a new political movement - the Tea Party. Since taking the American political system by storm in 2010, considerable research has focused on the electoral consequences of the Tea Party. Using an original dataset and the American National Election Study, I study the Tea Party Caucus at the elite level by analyzing roll call votes, incumbency, and endorsements, and at the mass level through an examination of congressional districts and constituencies. Findings show that members of the Tea Party Caucus and their Republican House colleagues are largely homogeneous. Exceptions to this include economic final passage votes, legislation receiving presidential support, district lean, census region, and presidential vote in congressional districts. Furthermore, evidence is seen that economic factors in members' districts affected the election of freshmen representatives in 2010, and that district variables strongly influence legislative voting behavior. Finally, discontinuity is discovered between the Tea Party movement at the mass level and the Tea Party Caucus at the elite level.
