Impact of the entrepreneurial orientation on the export performance of Togolese SMEs with an international vocation.

Kombate, Kangnaguidjoa 15 June 2018 (has links)
The objective of this research is to assess the impact of the CEO's profile on the EO level and its influence on the export performance of the SMBs in the togolese context. The results of a quantitative analysis by logistic regression led to 65 exporting SMBs to this purpose, show that the strategic vision, the key competences, the CEO's traits of personality and the SMBs characteristics, are positively related to to the international entrepreneurial orientation (IEO) and to the export performance. These results have the merit of confirming the conceptual model adapted from M/F and the one of C/S within the Togolese framework.

Antecedents of High-growth and Gazelle Enterprises: An Empirical Study

Sheppard, Michael January 2010 (has links)
This research explores a problem important to both management strategists and policy-makers: what makes some companies grow rapidly? This topic is important as high-growth companies create a disproportionally high percentage of new jobs. The literature frequently cites sustainable competitive advantage as an explanation for firm performance and growth. Companies can build competitive advantage through the accumulation and development of resources, strategic orientations and unique capabilities. More recently, researchers have looked outside the firm for explanations, concluding that inter-firm co-operative networks and alliances are also important sources of competitive advantage leading to firm growth. While there is an extensive body of literature on firm growth, few studies have specifically addressed the antecedents of rapid firm growth. Much of the available literature is descriptive, for example Birch’s (1987) study of gazelle firms or the OECD (2008) report on high-growth firms. There are however few theoretic models or empirical tests to explain the success of these firms. In response this research explains the occurrence of high-growth firms in terms of the resource- and knowledge-based view, dynamic capabilities, core competencies, and strategic orientation theories. Structural equation and growth mixture models were tested using data gathered from a survey administered to a cross-industry sample of Canadian businesses. The study found that high-growth forms were more likely to be innovators, as well as to have a combination of strong entrepreneurial and market orientations and the ability to manage their business networks. These findings highlight the importance to management of not only responding to market demands but leading the market with innovation and extending firm capabilities and reach through networking. In addition, this research indicates that institutional support for innovation, networking and market development would assist in developing high-growth firms in Canada.

Orientations stratégiques complémentaires et microentreprises familiales dans une économie émergente / Complementary Strategic Orientations and Family Owned Micro-enterprises in an Emerging Economy

Tsering, Chemi 29 November 2017 (has links)
This dissertation endeavors to understand the impact of multiple strategic orientations on the performance of the micro family business in developing economy settings in three distinct phases. First, we raised a question whether family micro-entrepreneurs gain performance benefits by developing simultaneously high levels of entrepreneurial-oriented and market-oriented activities. We also investigated whether these complementary strategic orientations on performance are rewarded by cultivating high levels of firm social capital in the form of business and social network ties. In addition, we raised a question how family fits together in the context of multiple strategic orientations to achieve superior performance. The initial study, therefore, yielded a rich research theme related to family business in the context of institutionally constrained environment. We have shown that micro family businesses do maximize their business performance by investing on higher levels of entrepreneurial and market orientation. Furthermore, firm socialization process with their external business entities increase the performance benefits by combined effects of entrepreneurial and market orientations in an emerging market setting. Contrary to conventional wisdom, the study revealed that business profitability increases when both orientations are high but only when family involvement is low. This result yielded important insights into the role of family influence in shaping firm strategic behaviors to achieve better performance. The subsequent study, therefore, reviews and revealed the dark and bright side of the family in combination with entrepreneurial and market orientation behaviors and its consequent impact on performance. The final quantitative study contradicts previous research finding revealing the importance of family-based capabilities in supporting risk-taking behaviors to increase family wealth in an emerging market setting.

Contribution à l’étude des déterminants de l’orientation entrepreneuriale : impact de la planification par scénarios sur la flexibilité et l’orientation entrepreneuriale / Contribution to the study of the determinants of entrepreneurial orientation : the impact of scenario planning on flexibility and entrepreneurial orientation

Bouhalleb, Arafet 12 April 2017 (has links)
Scenario planning has become an extremely popular organizational tool. It stimulates strategic thinking and helps overcome the limited thinking across the imagination of multiple futures. Its aim is to understand the environment but also to evaluate strategic options in spite of the proposed scenarios. Despite this popularity, there is inadequate research and theory to support its benefits to the organization. The objective of this research is to study its impact on the development of flexibility and entrepreneurial orientation. Our research is based on quantitative survey of 133 executives of French companies in the social and medico-social sector. The results confirm the expected relationships and reveal scenario planning to be an important determinant of strategic flexibility and entrepreneurial orientation.

The main objective of the study is to develop and test a model that emphasizes the relation between entrepreneurial orientation (EO) and managerial capacity (MC) as for performance on agricultural properties. This article examines the effect of these variables on performance expectations as well as succession planning on agricultural properties. Cross - sectional data were collected out of a sample of 158 dairy farmers in 2017 in Brazil. Applied modeling was used through path analysis to validate the hypothesized model. Results show that between EO dimensions, innovativity has the greatest impact on performance as well as on MC. MC is not significantly related to the current performance on dairy farms, but it is so to the performance expectation, which in turn has an impact on the succession planning on dairy farms. The age of the dairy farmers moderates the relations hypothesized in the model, especially between the effects of the innovativity, the proactivity and MC regarding performance.

The market scenario presents challenges that cause scholars interested in understanding the most effective strategies and managers that are aimed at maintaining the projects, projecting them through environmental influence to maintain competitive advantage. Thus, objective of this study was to analyze the entrepreneurial orientation, dynamic capabilities and organizational performance, mediated by uncertainty and environmental munificence in craft breweries in Brazil. Thus, it sought to subsidies in theory to give contribution to the development of research. The methodology used is of quantitative type, and the survey strategy. The sample had 102 craft breweries analyzed, which included several states, with most companies is from Rio Grande do Sul and is less than five years in the market, and respondents are mostly members-owners and male gender. For data analysis, we used the MPlus program, which was carried out confirmatory factor analysis to check the fit of the variables to the theoretical constructs. Following the structural equation modeling of the constructs for hypothesis testing was performed. The results identify that the relationship of entrepreneurial orientation is positive with performance. The munificence and environmental uncertainty influence the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation with performance. The associations related ambidextrous and tourist capacity with performance have not been confirmed, which made it impossible to verify the influence of the environment in this relationship. Similarly, checking the mediation of ambidextrous and tourist capacities in the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and performance was not carried out because they were not confirmed the relationship of capacity with the performance. It is recommended for further research on a larger sample to other countries, and it is suggested to be checked each of the dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation (proactivity, innovativeness and risk-taking), and ambidextrous capacity (operating actions and exploitation) with performance.

Leadership & The importance of Corporate Entrepreneurship

Johansson, Erik, Frisk, Aava January 2023 (has links)
Due to the importance of corporate entrepreneurship and leadership innovation when nurturing and building the company, along with keeping up with competition in an ever developing world these concepts have become more of an importance over the past few years. Corporate Entrepreneurship has an important role in building innovation and is needed to avoid disruption. However, the level of conscious attention given to CE within Swedish SMEs is still to some extent unknown. This study aims to investigate the CE initiatives produced and the active awareness put towards it along with the extent entrepreneurial leadership plays a role in the organizational innovation. The two research questions are: How are corporate leaders paying attention to corporate entrepreneurship? & How is entrepreneurial leadership enhancing leadership innovation in Swedish SMEs? This study focuses on Swedish small to medium-sized companies of various sizes and within different industries but also acting within the same ownership structure. For this reason, the relationship and entrepreneurial culture within the whole organization is also of interest. Therefore, a total of four interviews with six individuals from four different companies were conducted. The data was analyzed using a thematic analysis method. The results showed that there is an unconscious use of CE approaches and initiative along with the important role of entrepreneurial leadership to maintain and develop the organization.

Entrepreneurial orientation, environmental sustainability and new venture performance: Does stakeholder integration matter?

Amankwah-Amoah, J., Danso, A., Adomako, Samuel 07 November 2018 (has links)
Yes / Previous research has theorised that the link between entrepreneurial orientation (EO) and performance is mediated by environmental sustainability orientation (ESO). However, firm- level factors that may moderate this relationship are lacking. This paper attempts to fill this gap by examining how and when EO enhances new venture performance by considering ESO as mediator and stakeholder integration as an important contingent factor. Using primary data obtained from 242 chief executive officers (CEOs)/entrepreneurs, we found that the indirect relationship between EO and new venture performance is strengthened at high levels of stakeholder integration. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed
