Hur RFID kan påverka logistisk effektivitet : En studie av den svenska dagligvarubranschen / How RFID can affect logistic efficiency : A study of the Swedish food retail supply chainBergström, Sara, Carlström, Lena January 2006 (has links)

/
The purpose of this thesis is to study how the use of RFID and EPC would affect the Swedish food retail supply chain. This was done by mapping the flow of five different products in the supply chain at activity level. These visits resulted in a flowchart for each company describing the product flow, with particular attention to the use of barcodes.
The present work analyzes the qualification of the social type of the EPC Contract (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) in the Brazilian legal order in consideration with the legal type of the works and supply contract. It is therefore investigated the existence of an identity or difference between the two contractual types in order to give the EPC the appropriate legal status. For this purpose, in Chapter I the general characteristics of construction contracts are presented, focusing on the delimitation of the specific normative space occupied by the works and supply contract. In Chapter II, the EPC Contract is presented. Its main general characteristics are presented so that, in a second moment, one can deepen the analysis using the typological method. Finally, Chapter III demonstrates the way in which the regulation of mixed atypical contracts in general is constructed, so that it can be analyzed the formation of the EPC regulation in its main points.

With the increase of world production at bigger and bigger proportions, the industrial processes have become a challenge by the complexity of their management. The fast and precise identification of non-conformities is increasingly necessary and more difficult to be performed, preferably even before problems with product specification or waste can be considered. This study proposes the integration of Engineering Process Control with the Statistical Process Control, in monitoring and controlling of industrial processes, aiming the quicker perception of abnormalities, looking for the reduction of products specification problems. A form of self-adjustment of the Proportional-Integral and Derivative Controller (PID) is proposed, increasing the system robustness applying techniques commonly used in the processes. The mathematical model of the process, equating the relationship of the variables involved, is established to the determination and specification of the controller, and the control charts are configure in an integrated way. The controller projected to the normal operation situation, acts in the sense of keeping the exit variables (controlled) within the specifications through the knowledge of its relationship with that of the entrance and that of the process. The control charts based in models, monitoring the residues coming from the models adjustment ARIMA, follow up the process variations avoiding excessive variability and making it possible the detection of abnormal behaviors, even monitoring the performance of the controller itself. With the signalling of the control charts, an interference in the equation of adjustment of the controller is performed. Applying the numerical simulation, the controller behaviors are analyzed and this combined with the control charts. Intentionally inserted failures, in each controlled variable, were properly signalized. These signallings have happened even in situations where the variables were kept by the controller within the specification.. To the self-adjustment system, the increase of contribution gains of the control charts has provided greater accuracy of the controlled variables. The integration proposed has presented better results, in relation to maintain of the exit variables next to their targets, when compared to the controller operating in isolation.

Structural Design of an RFID-Based System : a way of solving some election problems in AfricaBassey, Isong, Adedigba, Adetayo January 2008 (has links)
In this thesis work, two major problems confronting elections system in Africa; multiple registrations and diversion/shortages of election materials, taking the Nigerian content into consideration is addressed. These problems have been described as being so corrosive in nature such that ICTs in the form of eVoting if fully implemented will only compound or exacerbate the current situation due to poor ICTs awareness in the continent. However, in order to contain these problems with some form of ICTs tools along side the traditional election system, we proposed an RFID-based framework where voter’s identification and election materials are RFID-based. We believe this will enhance effective and efficient identification and tracking. Operations similar to the chain supply and inventory management are utilized. Also benefits resulting from the adoption of this framework; national ID card, national register, etc. are addressed. / isongb77@yahoo.com adetayoadedigba@yahoo.com

AETOS: An Architecture for Offloading Core LTE Traffic Using Software Defined Networking ConceptsNasim, Kamraan January 2016 (has links)
It goes without saying that cellular users of today have an insatiable appetite for bandwidth and data. Data-intensive applications, such as video on demand, online gaming and video conferencing, have gained prominence. This, coupled with recent innovations in the mobile network such as LTE/4G, poses a unique challenge to network operators in how to extract the most value from their deployments all the while reducing their Total Cost of Operations(TCO). To this end, a number of enhancements have been proposed to the ”conventional” LTE mobile network. Most of these recognize the monolithic and non-elastic nature of the mobile backend and propose complimenting core functionality with concepts borrowed from Software Defined Networking (SDN). In this thesis we shall attempt to explore some existing options within the LTE standard to mitigate large traffic churns. We will then review some SDN-enabled alternatives, and attempt to derive a proof based critique on their merits and drawbacks.
