Background: The concept of decision-making is influenced by many parameters like perception or relationships. This is also true when it comes to horse buying and the phenomenon of foreigners buying horses bred in Germany, with tradition, quality, and the positive perception of german bred horses all over the world playing an important role. Much is known about the industry and how and why people purchase horses, with a small difference that it has not yet been researched what leads to foreigners investing in German sport horses rather than domestic-bred ones. The official webside advocating for the quality in german-bred horses claims that this success stems from the countless successes of German horses at major equestrian events like the Olympic games (german horse quality, 2023). Thus, this study includes the perspectives of sellers and buyers of German sports horses to explore the criteria and decision-making processes of the buying process.  Purpose: This study aims to explore the decision-making process foreign investors undergo when investing into a german sport horse, despite the insecurity of investment and the high stress level for the animal.  Method: In order to fulfill the purpose of this qualitative study, an exploratory research design was applied, and data gathered through a variety of semi-structured and structured interviews across the sector of horse selling in Germany and trough different business sizes and business models.  Conclusion: This study has found that basic criteria as age, breed and intended usage of the horse are more or less fixed criteria in the buying decision, whereas other basic criteria such as, price, descendants and quality give a frame that is used to evaluate purchase options and possible sales entities to contact, such as auction houses and sales stables. The last decision in this framework is based on the entity's reputation, perception, and relationships. The final decision to buy a horse is made by combining all the named criteria, highlighting the importance of perception and quality in the context of international buyers purchasing German horses.

Clement / The word “equestrian” is generally not known to be synonymous with sustainability. Although there is a small progressive movement, sustainable design is currently not common practice in the horse industry and desperately needs promoting. Horsemen and women need to be made aware that these techniques exist as well as more information on how to implement them into the facilities that they own and manage. The Colorado Horse Park (CHP), one of the largest equestrian event venues in the nation, has great potential to become an example of successful sustainable design. As host to dozens of events and hundreds of visitors each year, the CHP presents the perfect opportunity to educate the horse community on sustainable practices. Using the Audubon Lifestyles Program and Sustainable Sites Initiative (SITES) as guides, I will promote the sustainable equestrian movement through the implementation of sustainable elements and an interpretive landscape at the CHP. The goal of this new design will be to educate site users on sustainable practices as well as motivate and inspire them to make changes to their own lifestyles and facilities. Using the theories established through research and precedent studies, a new design for the CHP was developed. There are three principles to this design: using circulation systems to make the facility more functional, implementing sustainable elements into the facility to serve as examples, and providing the visitors with educational opportunities in the form of interpretive exhibits. Function and safety are two major concerns at this type of venue, and are addressed through the re-organization of site elements and the establishment of a circulation system which creates separation between differing traffic types. Sustainable practices are applied in the forms of vegetated drainage ways, protection of riparian areas, xeric plantings, habitat restoration, and a manure composting operation. An interpretive landscape of signage and displays highlights each sustainable element and relates information on how visitors can incorporate sustainable techniques in their own facilities.

Le portrait équestre se définit comme le portrait d’une personne figurée à cheval hors narration.La thèse propose d’identifier et de commenter les raisons, les moyens et les finalités des cent vingt-huit portraits équestres du corpus, réalisés par des artistes italiens entre 1229 et 1511. L’analyse de l’histoire et du concept du portrait équestre italien de la fin du Moyen Age au début de la Renaissance s’articule en deux grandes parties. La première partie présente et décrit les portraits du corpus, en fonction des objets qu’ils constituent et de leurs spécificités matérielles.La seconde partie traite de leur analyse iconographique. Ces effigies qui représentent des détenteurs du commandement militaire constituent un type spécifique de portrait officiel, qui se distingue par la présence fondatrice du cheval. Caractérisé par une forte empreinte martiale, entre le début du XIIIe et le début du XVIe siècle, le portrait équestre se trouve au coeur du choc des imaginaires politiques qui anime la Péninsule. Outil d’affirmation et d’authentification du pouvoir, ce type de portrait officiel est utilisé comme instrument de légitimation, voire de propagande. / Equestrian portraits are defined as the portrait of an individual shown on horseback without any context. The dissertation proposes to identify and comment on the reasons for methods of creation and uses of the 128 equestrian portraits in the corpus of such depictions created by Italian artists between 1229 and 1511. The history and concept of Italian equestrian portraits from the end of the Medieval period to the beginning of the Renaissance are analyzed in two major sections. The first presents and describes the portraits in the corpus on the basis of object type and their specific material characteristics. The second is an iconographic analysis. These effigies which represent military commanders constitute a specific type of official portrait, which is differentiated by the fundamental presence of the horse. Typified by a strong martial imprint,between the beginning of the 13th and the beginning of the 16th century, equestrian portraits are at the heart of the conflict among political imaginations that enlivened the Peninsula at that time. A tool for the affirmation and validation of power, equestrian portraits are used as an instrument of legitimation, even of propaganda.

Abstract:Today, there are great opportunities for students in high school to be able to combine their elite investment in sports with their studies in high school. This education is called NIU and RIG. In the Equestrian world we often talk about equestrian feel, it is a word that is often used in the training of riders. Equestrian feeling is a term that can be defined as a speechless communication between horse and rider (Game,2001).This master thesis in science of Education has as a study area to gain a greater understanding of how equestrian feeling fits into the subject of sports specialization and how students experience getting grades in riding. This study builds on Antonovsky (2005) theory about KASAM ‘’Feeling of context’’. and how the KASAM concept is seen in relation to equestrian feeling and students' experience of getting grades in sport- specialization Sports does not only influence the schools agenda through norms, cultures and unwritten rules - but also the grade assessment themselves in comparisons made between athlete and results within the sports specialization. (Ferry, 2014; Hedberg, 2014; Larneby, 2020).Students and teachers alike believe sports specialization as an education lacks clarity in its assessment criteria. This is evident in the students who seem unable to distinguish whether they are being judged on the basis of their performance or their personality. The results of this study shows that stronger guidelines from the school system, and sports federations are needed on how these assessments should be undertaken. For the moment the experience (shared by coaches, teachers and students) that grading is too fluid endures. The meaning of the term equestrian feeling, on the other hand, do not have a great impact on the assessment in the subject, according to the teachers who were interviewed.The students' experience of comprehensibility, manageability and meaningfulness become important components to take into account in the assessment in Sports Specialization.
