The Link between Corporate Environmental and Corporate Financial Performance: Viewpoints from Practice and ResearchAnne, Bergmann 27 March 2017 (has links)
For more than 40 years, a tremendous number of studies have empirically explored the relationship between Corporate Environmental Performance (CEP) and Corporate Financial Performance (CFP). This study considers the relationship from a new perspective—via a qualitative research approach based on expert interviews. First, practitioners are queried for their view on the link between CEP and CFP and how to measure it. Since the vast majority see a positive relationship, this study contributes with a new form of evidence that it pays to be green. The chosen qualitative approach also allows a more detailed analysis of underlying cause-and-effect mechanisms. For instance, interviewed practitioners emphasize a direct and indirect impact from CEP on CFP. Second, the study conducts interviews with experts from research and associations (non-practitioners) and compares the viewpoints of the two interview groups. One prevalent difference refers to the fact that non-practitioners do not focus on the two impact levels. Moreover, business experts perceive the link between CEP and CFP as much less complex and reveal more pragmatically oriented considerations. The study then discusses how the interview results and identified differences can be used to direct future research and to support corporations in their move towards sustainability.

How logistics contribute to the complexity of global agri-food supply chains and thus to potential food safety risksZupaniec, Milena Alexandra 04 October 2022 (has links)
The globalization of agricultural trade leads to complex supply chains, which can have far-reaching consequences for food safety. International food safety incidents are challenging competent authorities to assess and manage food safety risks appropriately. Analysis of respective occurrences revealed substantial knowledge gaps regarding the role of logistics. To map the research area of global commodity flows, a conceptual framework - using agricultural commodities as an example - was developed based on qualitative text analysis of multidisciplinary literature, inspired by the Grounded Theory approach. This served as the foundation for a case study to empirically investigate the potential contamination of agricultural commodities with mycotoxins. For such purpose, expert interviews were conducted with 24 stakeholders from logistics, trade, procurement, and regulations and standards. We identified different levels of key concepts within (e.g., logistics processes and key actors) and outside (e.g., global drivers) the commodity flows of agricultural commodities. The case study further allowed us to identify critical dimensions (e.g., food safety measures, human factor, port characteristics) and corresponding critical factors for food safety and their interrelationships. The study demonstrates the need for integrative and sustainable solutions, such as collaboration between economic actors, as well as with authorities, policy incentives, for example to achieve more transparency and diligence in quality management, as well as more investments in new technologies (e.g. blockchain) in the logistics sector. The knowledge gained calls to be integrated into existing and new tools used to verify and assess international food safety incidents or in early risk detection, and should constantly be updated and expanded according to the unfolding dynamics of the sector at EU and international levels.

Towards a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty: Insights from Global Disarmament and Non-proliferationMcEvoy, Ffion January 2024 (has links)
The Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty (FF-NPT) is a proposed multilateral treaty for the supply-side elimination of fossil fuels championed by a transnational advocacy network. Comparing fossil fuels to weapons of mass destruction (WMDs), the FF-NPT co-opts the language of non-proliferation and disarmament in a bid to uncover the moral implications of fossil fuel extraction and shift narratives about climate change. Pushing this analogy a step further, this study investigates how insights from global non-proliferation and disarmament efforts might be applied to the FF-NPT and climate governance more broadly. Thematic analysis of interviews with thirteen non-proliferation and disarmament experts is the focal point of this investigation. Findings feature factors behind success and failure; participation and power asymmetry; innovation and regional approaches; norms versus legally binding instruments; and practical parameters of the FF-NPT.

Kirche im Café : eine empirisch-theologische Studie über die Chancen, Grenzen und Perspektiven missionaler Café-Kirchen / Church in a coffee shop : an empirical-theological study of the opportunities and challenges presented by missional café churches and their future outlookMutz, Sebastian Johannes 11 1900 (has links)
The subject of this research paper is the empirical-theological exploration of the opportunities,
challenges and perspectives of missional café churches from the viewpoint of
the leaders of corresponding projects. With that, questions regarding theology, ecclesiology
and lived spirituality play just as much of a role as tangible experience. On the basis
of a missional perspective (missional church, fresh expressions of church) and a sociological
perspective (Sinus-Milieu study, third places), which take the current state of
research into account, empirical data will be obtained from twelve qualitative expert
interviews; this data will then be analyzed using the Grounded Theory from Strauss &
Corbin. Subsequently, the empirical results will be related to the theoretical reflections
and deliberated from a missional perspective. The research lead to the conclusion that
missional café churches have a great deal of potential to live out the Gospel in a relevant
manner and to be defined theologically as a church in its full sense. On the other
hand however, there are limits and challenges that ought to be considered, if these café
churches are to maintain their missional relevance in the future. / Christian Spirituality, Church History and Missiology / M. Th. (Missiology)
