Rött och blått i sällskap : En studie om föreningsdemokratin inom Örgryte Idrottssällskap åren 1943–1960 / Red and blue association : A study of democracy in the association Orgryte Idrottssallskap in 1943–1960

Ryberg Modeland, Alexander January 2018 (has links)
This essay is about the circumstances of the sport association Orgryte Idrottssallskap (OIS) in the years 1943–1960. The purpose is to find out if the association can be called a democratic people's movement project by studying how the boards relationship to different groups like women, different social classes and political groups looked like and thereby problematizing how the association's relation to democratic integration and democratic ruling. The method used when studying the board’s meeting protocols from the years 1943–1960 is characterized as qualitative reading with hermeneutically inspired elements. The method is suitable for answering questions about Orgryte IS's relation to democratic integration and democratic ruling. The survey has shown that the association was not ruled democratically in the years 1943– 1960 and that the association had different approaches to different groups. Furthermore, the study has shown that economic conditions affected the association's opportunities to practice sports as well as the opportunities to have a democratic content. The study of the board’s meetings protocol has shown that the Second World War affected the associations work.

Idrottsrörelsens interna kamp mellan föreningsdemokrati och kommersialisering : En undersökning av 51-procentsregeln i den svenska idrottsrörelsen under åren 1997-2013. / The internal struggle of the Swedish Sports movement between commercialization and association democracy : A study of the 51-percent rule in Swedish sports during the years 1997-2013

Håkansson, Emil, Hovsby, Robin January 2023 (has links)
The aim of this study is to investigate the debate surrounding increasing commercial development in Swedish sports during the years 1997 until 2013. The main target is to identify the different arguments inside of the Swedish National Sports Association (RF) and how the 51-percent rule has impacted democracy in Swedish sports. The source material are protocols from the General Assembly in RF, RF-stämman and the RF board meetings, Riksidrottsstyrelsen. The material also includes the two investigations leading up to the main decisions being made in 1999 and 2013. The arguments were analyzed based on three logics; democratic, commercial and competitive as well as the ideal type föreningsdemokrati. As earlier publications have proved, competitive goals have pushed the commercialization forward, on behalf of democracy. The arguments in our result reflect that, as the main arguments for a commercialization of sports is to improve finances. The arguments against it want to protect the democratic tradition that Swedish sports is based upon. The result of the study shows that there are several nuanced layers to the debate. Finally the study confirms that the democratic traditions in Swedish sports have partly been devalued as a result of the 51-percent rule.

Ungdomars upplevelser av delaktighet i demokratiska processer inom idrottsföreningar / Young people's experiences of participation in democratic processes within sports associations

Jonasson, Marika, Sandell Jonsson, Emma January 2020 (has links)
Because of the newly implemented law regarding the UN Convention on the rights of children this study aimed to examine how young people in sport organizations experience their role in the democratic processes in their sports. This was done by interviewing children between the ages 15-18 by asking them about their experiences and opinions concerning the democracy they encounter in their regular teams, as well as the democracy provided by their organization’s board. The conclusion of this study is that children experience the democracy in their teams as rather good but also that they do not necessarily feel involved in the organization's democratic processes. The conclusion furthermore includes that none of the participants shared their opinion with the board or attended their organization’s annual meetings, since they did not feel invited. Despite this the children expressed an overall satisfaction with the amount of democracy they are involved in. This is a law that Swedish sport organizations supposedly have followed since 2009 but we found in this study that regarding the UN Convention on the rights of children a lot of the organizations seems to not fully follow it to a satisfying degree.

Kronlund, Alexander, Makolli, Ljeutrim January 2019 (has links)
This study aims to explore how individuals who are operating Swedish elite football clubs manage the tension between non-profit and commercial logics, and whether organizational form is important when managing them. The respondents in this study are individuals with positions at the very highest organizational level, and predetermined themes that concern the tension within Swedish elite football were used in the design of the interview guide. The results were then analysed from a new institutional perspective. The outcome showed that elite football clubs tend to use similar strategies when managing the logics regardless of organizational form.
