This Master thesis focuses on the dynamic of the development and rethinking of the concept of the traditional Latino patriarchal family built up around male dominance. This work explores the changes of the traditional concept under the pressure of society of the United States in novels written in English by authors of Latino origin awarded for their novels after 2000. The most significant of them being Junot Díaz and his The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao; the other two are Mexican Female authors Stella Pope Duarte with If I Die in Juárez and Reyna Grande with Across a Hundred Mountains. The first part is purely theoretical, stemming from the concepts of traditional Latino masculinity, the role of the female and children in the patriarchal family in order to explain the clash of values and family crises which Latinos undergo once they are confronted with the different system of values of the United States and the consequences for all family members. In the second part, all three books are analyzed on the basis of the male - female polarity. Consequences for families are explored as seen by Latino/a authors. (in English): This work deals with women teachers' unions in the period of 1918 - 1939. It monitors the development of women's education in connection with their employment assertion and with their participation in the union life. The first professional associations which were founded by women were teaching guilds. The paper presents an overview of women's associations and follows basic areas of their activities. It focused especially on putting women's equality given by the Constitution into the reality, improving social and economic status of female teachers and their participation in the reform movement. The Federation of teachers of vocational schools for women's occupations is introduced in detail to give the specific idea about the activities of women's teacher unions. These schools, so called family schools are also more closely characterised in their work. Follows a basic overview of the effects of the Union during this period and a description of its organization. The following chapters show in detail the activities of this association in areas which were the subject of the greatest interest. The thesis concerns with the development of the Chinese family law during the 20th century, presents legal sources in relation to the historical development and describes the basic aspects of the Chinese family law with regard to similar aspects of the ancient Roman law. Explains the significance of the social stability in legal context from the end of the Qing dynasty up to the present, describes the importance of the neoconfucian ideology to the family law and the role of the law in the Chinese society in general. The thesis is divided into several parts, the first one begins with the period of the end of the Qing dynasty at the turn of the 20th century, describes the historical circumstances of the founding of the first Chinese Republic, explains the principles of the then family and social relations in detail, especially the structure of the traditional family, the significance of the ancestor worship, the scope of the agnatic relationship and its relation to the property rights, the importance of the marriage and the system of mutual dependency of the family members. Creating spaces – producing meanings

Die Ethnographie basiert auf der Annahme, dass Kunstakteur_innen in Umbruchszeiten wesentliches Potenzial freisetzen können, um gesellschaftliche Prozesse mitzugestalten. Indem sie künstlerische und soziale Entwürfe formulieren, sind sie am Entwickeln von Strukturen und Debatten beteiligt. An Hand zweier Initiativen in Rumänien, der Künstlerinnengruppe h.arta und dem Kunstprojekt The KNOT, untersucht die Arbeit, wie diese Räume und Öffentlichkeiten herstellen. Dazu wird nach den Verständnissen der Akteur_innen von Öffentlichkeiten-Schaffen als politischem Handeln gefragt und nach ihren künstlerischen Praktiken und Strategien. Des Weiteren wird erörtert, inwiefern ihre Erfahrungen mit Transformation und prekären Bedingungen dabei von Bedeutung sind und welche Narrative hinsichtlich symbolischer Zuschreibungen ehemals sozialistischer Kontexte sichtbar werden. Die Arbeit verortet sich in der politischen Anthropologie. Sie verknüpft die Forschungsfelder „Kunst als soziales/politisches Handlungsfeld“ und „Transformation/Europäisierung“ und untersucht sie als eine „Formation des Politischen“ (Adam/Vonderau 2014). Dazu macht sie ein plurales Öffentlichkeitskonzept sowie feministische Perspektiven auf das Kunstfeld stark. Mit einem post-Kalter-Krieg-Ansatz erörtert sie zudem die Verflechtungen postsozialistischer und postkolonialer Prozesse. Abschließend werden die Praxen der Kunstakteur_innen aus einer dezentrierenden Perspektive auf Europäisierung analysiert. Dazu folgt die Arbeit Ansätzen, Europa von seinen „Rändern“ her zu denken und es somit zu dezentrieren und bezieht diese auf das lokale Kunstproduzieren im europäischen Kontext. Es wird gezeigt, wie die rumänischen Kunstakteur_innen, exemplarisch für die „Ränder“ (EU)Europas, aus ihrer oft prekären Situation heraus Räume der Selbstermächtigung schaffen. Diese sind in sich brüchig tragen jedoch zur Imagination und Dezentrierung eines europäischen Kunstfeldes bei und zeigen Alternativen zum neoliberalen EU-Europa auf. / The ethnography is based on the assumption that artists can unleash a substantial potential to contribute to social processes in times of upheaval. By formulating artistic and social conceptions, they participate in the development of structures and debates. This dissertation investigates how two Romanian initiatives, the artist group h.arta and the art project The KNOT, create publics and spaces respectively public space. It portrays the artists’ understandings of “creation of public as a political act” and analyzes their practices and strategies. Further, it examines the significance of the artists’ personal experiences with transformation and precarious conditions, and analyzes the narratives governing the ascription of symbolism to formerly socialist contexts. The dissertation is located in the field of political anthropology. It combines the research areas “Art as a Social/Political Field of Action” and “Transformation/Europeanization”, and investigates them as a “Formation of the Political” (Adam/Vonderau 2014). It thereby advocates a concept of plural publicities and feminist perspectives on art. Moreover, it explores the entanglement of post-socialist and postcolonial processes by adapting a post-Cold War approach. Finally, the dissertation examines the artists’ practices from a decentering perspective on Europeanization. It thus applies approaches, which understand Europe from its “margins”, to the local production of art in the European context. As a result, the dissertation illustrates how these Romanian artists, generic for the “margins” of (EU-)Europe, create spaces of self-empowerment out of their frequently precarious situations. Although fragile, these spaces contribute to the imagination and decentering of the European field of art and offer alternatives to neoliberal EU-Europe.

The diploma thesis deals with problems connected to the formation of feminine names of occupations in contemporary French. The theoretical part is devoted to the evolution of feminism not only in the French Republic, gender questions, particularly in relation to the language, and the language policies of France. Furthermore, it is aimed at word-formative possibilities of contemporary French for the derivation of names of occupations, functions, degrees and ranks. A part of it deals with the situation in several francophone countries. The objective of the practical part is to assess the relation between the political desiderata of the French Republic and the real language usage on the basis of a corpus analysis effected in the Frantext database and Google Web Search.

This thesis concerns scientific, philosophical and religious views of womanhood. Its main focus is the nature of biblical womanhood, based on the papal apostolic letter Mulieris dignitatem and contemporary studies of American biblists, concerning biblical manhood and womanhood. The practical section consists of qualitative research among Czech Christian women. It examines how Christian women view their role and practically implement principles of biblical womanhood in their family, society and church. The aim of this thesis is not to evaluate controversial issues, such as women?s ordination, homosexuality, or other questions regarding womanhood. Nevertheless, it seeks to explore biblical womanhood in practice, as well as the concerns and struggles of real Christian women. Of no less importance, this research tries to identify how Christian women, who are a minority in the Czech Republic, develop their views on biblical womanhood, the sources from which they draw, as well as the models, which influence them.

in English The aim of this diploma thesis is to compare novels by Elfriede Jelinek, Ingeborg Bachmann, and Thomas Bernhard on the grounds of each authors' different understanding of language and its limits. The first part is concerned with what I found typical of the novels: Bachmann's Malina (1971) describes and represents the search for (non-violent) language, Jelinek's The Piano Teacher (1983) makes use of violent language as a weapon against violence, and Bernhard's novels problematize the question of truth and objectivity by means of first-person narrators and nested testimonies. The second part uses Roman Jakobson's theory of language as a combination of metaphor and metonymy and shows the ways in which novels can emphasize one or the other pole and what it tells about the language as a whole. Especially in the case of the texts by Bachmann and Jelinek, the important methodological models for his paper are feminist theories: theories of language and means of expression (Drucilla Cornell, John Berger), theories of cultural conditionality of the body (Simone de Beauvoir, Iris Marion Young) and feminist texts which connect body and language (Beatrice Hanssen).
