A large number of professional articles or academic works have been written about the series Sex in the City, but none of them directly dealt with the impact of the series on their fans. From an empirical point of view, the diploma thesis Research of the Perception of the Influence of the Cult Series HBO Sex in the City on its Viewers is a qualitative analysis. It is examined opinions of the series' viewers on various aspects of the series and also their motivation to watch such media content are examined through in-depth interviews. In the qualitative analysis, the author focuses mainly on the phenomena such as gender stereotyping, consumer lifestyle (product placement in the series) or, for instance, the postfeminist tone of the series itself. The inspiration for this thesis was the work of Ien Ang, who also focused on fans of the cult series Dallas in her researches and tried to interpret the success of this phenomenon through qualitative research.

Taking selfies is a technique of self-monitoring, gaze and comparison, drawing from its regulatory force upon women. The photo-taking practice marks the surveillance of how individual gender performances fulfill the expectations of existing gender norms. The contemporary postfeminist hegemonic femininity presents woman as owning the right kind of dispositions, such as confidence or sexiness, in which case the area of the body plays a central role. In order to explore how performances of such femininity are constructed, this study uses content analysis to study the visual and textual content of Instagram posts. This master thesis analyses whether the Instagram users tagging posts #zanormalniholky (#fornormalgirls) are responsive through selfies to postfeminist femininity or rather use it as a form of resistance against the postfeminist discourse. Identity, including gender identity, is constituted through acts that purport to be its consequence. Selfies - as the results of this thesis show - have normative potential. Promoting equal opportunity - competition "Office of the 2009". The theme of this thesis is the competition "Fifty-fifty" - respect for equal opportunities of women and men that emerged at the initiative of NGO Gender Studies, o.p.s. and the Ministry of Interior. The theoretical part focuses on the theoretical foundations and legislative basis of equal opportunities for women and men. I also represent an institutional apparatus that may serve as the basis when asserting the equal opportunities, including basic documents. I also refer to the non-state sector activities and individual types of instruments for promoting equal opportunities. For the context of the competition, the activities of the coordinator of gender equality issues in the Ministry of Interior, which are also the part of the theoretical part, are also important. The empirical part focuses mainly on the methodology of the survey which I used when setting up a new questionnaire for the purposes of the competition. It is the setting of the improved questionnaire that would enable easy evaluation is also the goal of my thesis.

Im September 2020 wurde in Berlin eine Friedensstatue aufgestellt. Die japanische Regierung versuchte, die Aufstellung der Statue zu verhindern, doch letzten Endes durfte sie bleiben. Basierend auf teilnehmender Beobachtung und Interviews stellt dieser Artikel vor, welche Hintergründe und Motive das zivilgesellschaftliche Bündnis, das die Statue aufstellte, hatte, welche Bedeutung sie der Statue zuschreiben und wie die Statue durch spontane Interaktionen mit der lokalen Bevölkerung in Berlin neue Bedeutungen erlangte. Der Artikel fasst die Ereignisse im Zusammenhang mit der Aufstellung der Statue zusammen und untersucht, wie der Konflikt zwischen einem nationalen und einem transnationalen Verständnis der Erfahrung der „Trostfrauen“ konkret in Berlin ausgetragen wurde. / In September 2020 a Statue of Peace was installed in the German capital Berlin. The Japanese government attempted to prevent the installation of the statue, but in the end, it was allowed to remain. Based on participant observation and interviews, this article introduces the background and motives of the coalition of civic groups that installed the statue, how they frame the statue’s meaning, and how the statue has acquired new meanings through unplanned interactions with the local population in Berlin. Summarizing the events related to the installation of the statue, this article examines how the conflict between a national and a transnational understanding of the “comfort women” experience played out in Berlin.

Der soziologische, Beitrag von Sophie Ruby (M. A.), „Über Feminismus sprechen, eine geschlechterpolitische Praxis. Diskursanalytische Betrachtungen“, schlägt implizit den Bogen zu den frauenzentriert-feministischen Anfängen der Gender Studies zurück. Dies freilich aus einer wissenskritischen Beobachtungs-Perspektive, in der aktuelle Sachbücher und ihre audiovisuellen wie textlichen Rezensionen als Diskursfragmente eines älteren und neueren Geschlechter- und Feminismusdiskurses gelesen werden können. Die Verfasserin zeigt auf, wie das Sprechen über Feminismus selbst zur geschlechterpolitischen Praxis wird. Nach einer methodologischen Einführung werden die fallübergreifenden Analyseergebnisse vorgestellt. Im Zentrum stehen diskursive Konstruktionen verschiedener Generationen von Frauen und Frauenbewegungen, die Kontrastierung von ‚Opferfeminismus‘ und dem ‚Feminismus emanzipierter Frauen von heute‘, die Fokussierungen, Marginalisierungen und Leerstellen des gesamten Diskurses sowie Strategien zur Legitimierung, Durchsetzung und Institutionalisierung einzelner (oft konkurrenter) Deutungsangebote. Ein besonderes – kritisches – Augenmerk gilt dabei der diskursiven Exklusion sozialkritischer Feminismen und Gegendiskurse. Beitrag – und Band – enden mit Überlegungen der Verfasserin zu einer künftigen diskursiven Praxis feministischer Sprecher/innen, die der hohen Relevanz eines pluralistischen ‚Feminismus für viele‘ angemessen wäre.

This paper aims at describing some peculiarities of the field of linguistics that focuses problems of language and gender. Research in this field started from the feminist critique of language in the context of the Women’s Liberation Movement in the 1970s. In French, different to English or German, the notion of feminist linguistics (*linguistique féministe) does not exist. This contribution outlines the main points of feminist analysis and critique of the French language based on exemplary texts by Anne-Marie Houdebine and Marina Yaguello. Special attention is paid to language usage and especially to the denotation gender (or sex). It will be shown that feminist critique of French is less radical as, for example, feminist critique of German but had anyway effects on the French language community

Jessica Bocks Aufsatz mit dem Titel ‚Wenn wir nicht losgehen, geht niemand los‘: Die ostdeutsche Frauenbewegung von 1980 bis 2000 am Beispiel der Stadt Leipzig füllt eine Lücke in der jüngsten Zeitgeschichte, indem er Frauen als handelnde historische Subjekte der Oppositions- und Revolutionsgeschichte sichtbar macht. Am Beispiel von Petra Lux werden wesentliche Entwicklungslinien und Eigenheiten der Leipziger Frauenbewegung 1980- 2000 dargestellt. Hierbei wird deutlich, dass Frauen in jeder Phase, sei es in der SED-Diktatur, in Zeiten des Umbruchs oder in einer Demokratie um ihre Anerkennung als politische Subjekte mit ihren Bedürfnissen und Forderungen sowie um die Erweiterung ihrer Entscheidungs- und Handlungsmöglichkeiten kämpfen mussten. Gleichzeitig muss die ostdeutsche Frauenbewegung trotz systembedingter Eigenheiten auch im Kontakt mit Westdeutschland als Teil einer gesamtdeutschen feministischen Entwicklung gesehen werden, wobei der Aufsatz durch seinen geografischen Fokus auf der Stadt Leipzig unterstreicht, dass Frauen auch außerhalb von (Ost-)Berlin aktiv waren.
