Life Cycle Assessment of a Road Ferry / Livscykelanalys av en Vägfärja

On a national level, the Swedish Transport Administration (STA) constitute the responsibleauthority for national long-term infrastructure planning in Sweden and therefore has animportant role for limit the environmental load from domestic transport. STA Road Ferries isresponsible actor within STA, for national infrastructure planning connected to public marinetransport and has formulated the goal of net zero GHG emissions by year 2045 for the ferryfleet. Today, yearly operation causes around 38,400 tons CO2-equivalents. Emissions fromconstruction, maintenance and deconstruction of road ferries are yet unknown. In order to reachclimate neutrality, identification of emissions from a life cycle perspective is needed. This study analyses environmental performance of a standard road ferry from an LCAperspective to be used as a baseline in future work towards climate neutrality. The LCA wasconducted in SimaPro 8.4.0 and evaluated thorough EPD (2013) methodology according to theEN 15804 standardisation. The report gives initial baseline values for the road ferry Neptunus and identifies daily operationas major hotspot in terms of total environmental impact from analysed impact categories, butalso construction phase is of importance to consider. The study further concludes that based onlong term goal and vision as STA Road Ferries has formulated them to today, a combination ofchange in construction in terms of material choices and design, together with changed fuelalternative is considered necessary in order to reach Vision 45. Future studies are recommended on this subject to reach the long term goal and vision. Forexample, studies that complement the developed model with more project specific process dataand include more components, and comparative LCA’s between different fuel alternatives. / Trafikverket är den aktör och myndighet som ansvarar för den långsiktiga, nationellainfrastrukturplaneringen i Sverige och som därför har en viktig roll i begränsandet avmiljöpåverkan från landets transportsektor. Färjerederiet är ansvarig aktör inom Trafikverketför nationell infrastrukturplanering och drift kopplat till den statliga inrikessjöfarten i form avfärjedrift. Färjerederiet har idag formulerat det långsiktiga målet att nå nollnetto utsläpp förfärjeflottan till år 2045. Idag orsakar färjedriften 38,400 ton CO2 ekvivalenter årligen vilket dåenbart är utsläpp kopplat till driften. Emissioner från konstruktion, underhåll ochdekonstruktion är dock fortfarande okänt. För att nå total klimatneutralitet behövs såledesidentifiering av emissioner ur ett livscykelperspektiv. Den här studien analyserar miljöprestandan av en standardfärja från Färjerederiets färjeflotta urett livscykelperspektiv med syfte att använda detta som utgångsläge i framtida arbete motklimatneutralitet. Livscykelanalysen genomfördes i SimaPro 8.4.0 och metoden EPD (2013)användes för utvärdering av potentiell miljöbelastning enligt EN 15804 standardiseringen. Resultaten från denna rapport är en utgångspunkt för vidare specialisering, och är baserat pådata från vägfärjan Neptunus. Studien identifierade den dagliga driften som en betydandehotspot för den totala miljöpåverkan utifrån de analyserade påverkanskategorierna, men ävenatt konstruktionen är en viktig del av livscykel att ta hänsyn till. Studien visar vidare att ettkombination av en förändrad konstruktion samt val av bränsle är nödvändigt för att nå delångsiktigt uppsatta målen som finns inom Färjerederiet i form av Vision 45. Framtida studier inom detta område är rekommenderat för att nå de långsiktigt uppsatta målen.Till exempel kan vidare studier göras för att komplettera den upprättade modellen med merprojektspecifik processdata och inkludera fler komponenter, samt utföra jämförandelivscykelanalyser mellan olika bränslealternativ.

Färjornas betydelse : En undersökning om vilken betydelse färjetrafiken har för medelstora städer

Att färdas med färja är ett populärt sätt att resa i Sverige, både som nöje och som ett färdmedel för att ta sig från en plats till en annan. Vilken anledning passageraren än har för sin resa med färja så behöver de flesta resa genom en stad för att ta sig till färjeterminalen. Syftet med det här arbetet är att undersöka om och på vilka sätt färjelinjerna och deras färjeterminaler gör nytta för städerna de är belägna i. Genom undersökningar med enkäter direkt till passagerarna på olika färjor samt intervjuer, med väl utvalda personer inom de aktuella branscherna, kunde en sammanställning göras om vilken betydelse färjetrafiken har på medelstora städer. Resultatet visade att passagerarnas konsumtion i staden på väg till färjan kunde ses som försumbar, sett till näringslivets omsättning är den konsumtionen relativt liten. Om färjeläget hade försvunnit från någon av de undersökta städerna hade exempelvis den minskade omsättningen hos en butik varit liten. Minskningen i exempelvis den matvarubutik som deltagit i undersökningen hade varit så liten att det inte direkt hade gått att knyta till nedläggningen, om de inte visste om nedläggningen på förhand. Färjelinjerna visade sig dock bidra med nytta till städerna på andra sett till exempel genom sin farledsavgift och stadens igenkänning. / To travel by ferry in Sweden is very popular, both for pleasure and as a means of transport. Whatever reason you have for travelling by ferry, you often have to travel through a city to arrive at the ferry terminal. The purpose of this essay is to investigate in what ways the cities benefit by their ferry lines and terminals. By making our own investigation, containing passenger surveys and interviews with carefully chosen persons in these specific areas, it was possible to analyze how and if the cities benefit by their ferries. The result of this investigation shows that the passengers’ consumption, when they travel through the cities, is negligible. Considering the revenue of the trade and industry, this consumption is very small. If the ferry terminal had been closed down in some of the investigated cities the loss of revenue in a grocery store that participated in the survey would have been so small that the company would have had a hard time figuring out that the loss was because of the closure of the terminal. The survey however showed that the ferry lines and their terminals contributed in other ways to the cities, for example through the fairway fee and the cities’ reputation.

Foi analisado o projeto com foco nos elementos pertinentes a gestão de projetos propostos pelo Project Management Body of Knowledge - PMBOK. Pela especificidade e complexidade do projeto, envolvendo diversas entidades, Estaduais, Federais, Municipais, públicas e privadas, a obtenção de financiamentos e o desempenho representaram um desafio a ser vencido pela empresa. Partiu-se do problema: Qual a importância da Gestão de Projetos e quais aspectos devem ser considerados na gestão do projeto de construção e de implementação de embarcação, tornando-o exeqüível? Qual a relação entre a gestão de projetos e a construção de embarcação do ponto de vista do negócio? Os dados foram analisados, pela sistematização dos processos na gestão de projetos, pois embora se trate da construção de um produto, será avaliada a gestão do projeto de construção, evidenciando quais os elementos necessários para viabilizar um projeto deste tipo. Os elementos analisados foram: integração, escopo, prazo, custo, qualidade recursos humanos, comunicações, riscos e aquisições do projeto. A construção naval no Brasil não é linear e dependente de financiamento específico e exíguo, sujeitando-a a fatores nem sempre controláveis. O estudo evidência a complexidade dos projetos do setor, com significativa importância aos aspectos de prazo e custos, determinados pela característica da execução, pelo método de desenvolvimento adotado e por cada atividade a ser realizada segundo o método escolhido, ressaltando a necessidade de uma gestão integrada dos processos.

This thesis deals with the current situation of unconventional vehicles in public transportation in Prague. It includes historical excursion with a detailed overview and outlook for the future with proposals for improvements and expansion of these means of transport. Representatives of the category of unconventional vehicles in Prague are three cableways (to Petřín, to Mrázovka and in the zoo) and five ferries (Lahovičky - Nádraží Modřany, Kotevní -- Císařská louka -- Výtoň, Lihovar -- Veslařský ostrov, V Podbabě -- Podhoří a Sedlec -- Zámky). All five lines of ferries, as well as a funicular to Petrin, are fully integrated into the metropolitan transportation system.

Representation of the National Trauma in Train to Busan: Based on a Semiotic Approach

The object of this project is to dissect the filmic elements in Train to Busan (2016) to analyze how the film represents the Sewol Ferry incident, a national disaster occurred in South Korea, and how the audience is able to engage with the trauma. As the first zombie blockbuster created in South Korea, Train to Busan adapted the elements of the zombie genre that has been delineated repeatedly. The film inherited the traits of zombies, representation of government and media, and feature of human characters from the genre created in Hollywood. Additionally, national characteristics had been added through reflecting the Sewol Ferry incident. Based on the ideas of genre studies, not only the components that construct the zombie genre, but also how the spectators confront the trauma while viewing the movie can be examined. Cinematography, narrative, character settings resemble the tragic event, which consequently trigger the audience to engage with the national trauma. Thus, while adapting the genre constructed in the Hollywood, Train to Busan reveals how Korean adaptation of the zombie media has been made.

L'étude qui fait l'objet de ce mémoire, entre philosophie et pédagogie, a pour but d'évaluer dans quelle mesure la communauté de recherche, « l'espace » méthodologique de la démarche de Philosophie pour enfants, autorise chez l'enfant l'émergence d'un comportement démocratique. Pour ce faire, la réflexion s'effectuera d'une part, à partir de la conception « communicationnelle » de la démocratie, issue des travaux de Jürgen Habermas, Karl Otto Apel et Jean-Marc Ferry. Elle explorera ensuite les dimensions démocratiques attachées à la communauté de recherche et laissera finalement la place à une comparaison entre les deux analyses. Il sera ainsi possible de comprendre jusqu'à quel point l'apprentissage effectué dans la communauté de recherche répond aux critères d'une éducation porteuse d'une attitude démocratique, telle que nous en donnons la définition.

The Role of Pottery in Shenks Ferry Mortuary Features at the Mohr Site

Using the Mohr Site as a case study, this project examines the role of pottery in Shenks Ferry mortuary features. Following an analysis of the mortuary pottery, the resulting information is compared with pottery from the general site assemblage as well as with descriptions of pottery from other Shenks Ferry sites. In addition, an inventory of the Mohr Site grave good assemblage has been created. The assemblage at the Mohr site is especially rich and is particularly noteworthy given the nature and number of the burials discovered; no other current collection has as much variety or quantity as is seen at this site. The pottery recovered from Mohr exhibits characteristics typical of pottery found at other Shenks Ferry Sites and in other Shenks Ferry burials. The ceramic evidence challenges the traditional assumption that the Mohr site is a transitional Lancaster-Funk Phase site. Likewise, the length of time this site was occupied is also debatable. Mortuary vessels at Mohr are predominately associated with extended burials oriented to the east. There are also correlations between mortuary vessels types and age and sex. Possible connections between other grave goods and age, sex, and body position and between body position and season of interment are also discussed. Additional research employing methods such as residue analysis to compare information regarding the contents of the mortuary and non-mortuary Mohr Site pottery as well as further evidence produced by additional excavations or more in-depth analysis of current grave material collections will provide further insight into Shenks Ferry mortuary ritual and is necessary in order to fully understand this site and its place in the chronology of the Shenks Ferry Complex. / Anthropology
