Cet ouvrage aborde la génération de grilles de Voronoï sous contrainte pour réduire les erreurs liées à la géométrie des cellules lors de la simulation réservoir. Les points de Voronoï sont optimisés en minimisant des fonctions objectif correspondant à différentes contraintes géométriques. L'originalité de cette approche est de pouvoir combiner les contraintes simultanément : - la qualité des cellules, en plaçant les points de Voronoï aux barycentres des cellules ; - le raffinement local, en fonction d'un champ de densité [rho], correspondant à la perméabilité, la vitesse ou la vorticité ; - l'anisotropie des cellules, en fonction d'un champ de matrice M contenant les trois vecteurs principaux de l'anisotropie, dont l'un est défini par le vecteur vitesse ou par le gradient stratigraphique ; - l'orientation des faces des cellules, en fonction d'un champ de matrice M contenant les trois vecteurs orthogonaux aux faces, dont l'un est défini par le vecteur vitesse ; - la conformité aux surfaces du modèle structural, failles et horizons ; - l'alignement des points de Voronoï le long des puits. La qualité des grilles générées est appréciée à partir de critères géométriques et de résultats de simulation comparés à des grilles fines de référence. Les résultats indiquent une amélioration de la géométrie, qui n'est pas systématiquement suivie d'une amélioration des résultats de simulation / Voronoi grids are generated under constraints to reduce the errors due to cells geometry during flow simulation in reservoirs. The Voronoi points are optimized by minimizing objective functions relevant to various geometrical constraints. An original feature of this approach is to combine simultaneously the constraints: - Cell quality, by placing the Voronoi points at the cell barycenters. - Local refinement according to a density field rho, relevant to permeability, velocity or vorticity. - Cell anisotropy according to a matrix field M built with the three principal vectors of the anisotropy, which one is defined by the velocity vector or by the stratigraphic gradient. - Faces orientation according to a matrix field M built with the three vectors orthogonal to the faces, which one is defined by the velocity vector. - Conformity to structural features, faults and horizons. - Voronoï points alignment along well path. The quality of the generated grids is assessed from geometrical criteria and from comparisons of flow simulation results with reference fine grids. Results show geometrical improvements, that are not necessarily followed by flow simulation results improvements

The content of this Master´s Thesis is creating of dynamic models of distributed energy sources in PSCAD and their validation in chosen operation regimes. In the introduction of this thesis is summarized theoretical knowledge about methods for power systems analysis and there is a comparison of static and dynamic methods for power systems analysis. Static methods are used to calculate electric variables in grid nodes. In compare with them, dynamic methods are used to study instantaneous electrical and mechanical variables not only in grid nodes, but also at components of power system. Secondly, we individually designed distributed energy sources in according to requirements, we made a topology of distribution grid and we integrated these energy sources to the distribution grid. Finally, we chose some operation regimes, and studied a behavior of energy sources during these operation regimes.

No presente trabalho, fez-se a adaptação do reservatório superficial do ModSimLS para trabalhar como reservatório do solo. O modelo denomina-se IrrigaLS. Por comparação com o método do balanço hídrico, verificou-se que o IrrigaLS é apto para determinar demandas de irrigação suplementares e/ou totais. Com a adaptação, o modelo considera a produção agrícola como o resultado da interação dos fatores água-clima-planta-solo. A capacidade de simular sistemas complexos de recursos hídricos foi testada por comparação dos resultados do IrrigaLS com um modelo de simulação similar (ModSimLS). No ModSimLS, as demandas foram calculadas usando método tradicional de balanço hídrico. Verificou-se que o modelo é apto para simular sistemas complexos de recursos hídricos e apresenta algumas vantagens sobre o ModSimLS, quais sejam: determina a necessidade hídrica real da cultura; garante em períodos de seca um suprimento mínimo de água para a planta; garante uma economia de água pela inclusão da precipitação e possibilidade de variação do volume meta; diferencia as culturas com relação a sensibilidade ao déficit hídrico e calcula o balanço hídrico diário do solo. / In this work, an adaptation in the ModSimLS surface reservoir has been made in order to make it work as a soil reservoir. The model is called IrrigaLS. When compared to the water balance method, it was ascertained that IrrigaLS is suitable for determining supplementary and/or total irrigation demands. The model adaptation considers agricultural production as a result from water-weather-plant-soil factors interaction. The model capability to simulate complex water resources systems has been tested by comparing the results of IrrigaLS with a similar simulation model (ModSimLS) where the irrigation demands were computed using traditional water balance methods. It was ascertained that the model is suitable for simulating complex water resources systems and it has some advantages over ModSimLS, that are: it determines the real water needs of the culture; it guarantees a minimum water supply to the crop during dry periods, it guarantees water saving by the inclusion of rainfall and by the possibility to choose the soil moisture target; it distinguishes the crops in relation to the water deficit sensibility and it calculates the soil daily water balance.

O balanceamento de uma rede de distribuição de ar consiste em estabelecer as vazões corretas nos elementos terminais conforme previsto no projeto. A revisão bibliográfica apontou que o balanceamento aplicado à distribuição de ar passou a ser considerado no final dos anos de 1960. A aplicação de modelos matemáticos com a simulação do escoamento do ar nos dutos das redes tem início no final dos anos 80. No presente trabalho o objetivo foi estudar metodologia para simulação e balanceamento de redes de distribuição de ar, implementando-a em um programa de computador. Foram estudados diferentes métodos para realizar o balanceamento: método proporcional, método T e o método direto. Foi adotado o direto, em que as vazões são impostas e as diferenças de pressão determinadas para escoamentos em caminhos em paralelo. Mediante o uso de conceitos que fazem analogia entre a fluido-dinâmica e a eletricidade, foi desenvolvido um algoritmo e elaborado um programa de computador. O aplicativo desenvolvido possui 6 etapas principais: caracterização da rede, perda distribuída, perda localizada, perda total, simulação do escoamento e comparação de caminhos. A partir de um estudo de caso, o programa foi testado simulando uma rede de distribuição. Esta mesma rede teve seu balanceamento avaliado por cálculos em planilha eletrônica. Os resultados do estudo de caso com os valores de pressão para todos os trechos da rede, assim como as diferenças de pressão que definem a magnitude do balanceamento foram comparados e estão coincidentes dentro da margem esperada. / The balancing of a net air distribution consists in establishment the correct flowrate in the terminals elements according the design. The bibliographic review show that the balancing applied in air distribution are consider at the 60`s. In the end of the 80\\2019s the mathematics models beginning applied to air flow simulation in ducts. In the present work the objective is studies the methodology to simulation and balancing air distribution nets using software. Different methods are studies to apply in balance: proportional method, T method and direct method. The direct method is adopted, which the flowrate is fixed and the pressure difference is obtained for the parallel paths. Using fluid-dynamics and electrical analogy concepts an algorithm was developed and a software was prepared. The applicatory developed was divided in 6 main stages: net characterization, continuous losses, local losses, total losses, flow simulation and path comparing. Using a case study the software was tested and the distribution net was simulating. This same net was balancing evaluated by a computational spreadsheet. The case study results present the values of pressure for the sections of the net, and the pressure differences to obtained the balancing. This values was consider coincident with the expected.

Toward a Novel Gas Cell for X-Ray Spectroscopy : Finite Element Flow Simulation and Raman CharacterizationStångberg Valgeborg, Fredrik January 2019 (has links)
The new millennium has seen revolutionary advances in photonsource technology. As the newly constructed synchrotron facilityMAX IV in Lund, Sweden, pushes brilliance toward what isphysically possible, low-yield spectroscopic techniques, such asresonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS), open new doors inmolecular and condensed matter research. The VERITAS beamline atMAX IV is designed for high-resolution vibrational RIXS on gases.X-rays interact with flowing molecules inside a window-cappedcell, but the radiation intensity is expected to be large enoughto damage the windows, and cause build-up of photochemicalproducts, which lowers transmission. To address these issues, anovel gas cell design is presented, wherein the distance betweensample gas and window is increased by using a flowing heliumbuffer. The main challenge is maintaining a steep sample gasconcentration gradient within the cell, and to that end, gas flowswere simulated on various geometries by using the finite elementmethod to solve the Navier-Stokes equations. Results were used toconstruct a prototype, and confocal Raman microscopy was used forconcentration characterization. Preliminary measurements revealeda uniform sample gas distribution, and the technique proved to beinefficient for wide scanning of parameter values. This suggeststhat a supplementary experiment is required to find roughestimates of good parameter values, which can then be followed upwith new Raman measurements for fine-tuning of the properparameter space. Real-time visualization of the sample gas flow,using a visible gas under an optical microscope, is one candidatefor this supplementary experiment.

Investigation of blood flow patterns and hemodynamics in the human ascending aorta and major trunks of right and left coronary arteries using magnetic resonance imaging and computational fluid dynamicsSuo, Jin 11 April 2005 (has links)
Hemodynamic factors play a role in atherogenesis and the localization of atherosclerotic plaques. The human aorta and coronary arteries are susceptible to arterial disease, and there have been many studies of flows in models of these vessels. However, previous work has been limited in that investigations have not modeled both the geometry and flow conditions in specific individuals.
The first aim of the research was to develop a methodology that combined computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to simulate the blood flow patterns found in the human aorta. The methodology included MR image processing, 3D model reconstruction and flow simulation using in vivo velocity boundary conditions obtained from phase contrast (PC)-MRI scanning. The CFD simulations successfully reproduce the unusual right-hand helical flow pattern that has been reported in the ascending aorta, giving confidence in the accuracy of the methodology.
The second aim was to investigate the causes of the right-hand helical flow. It was found that the correct flow dynamics could only be produced by including the specific aortic motion caused by the beating heart; and it is concluded that this is a significant factor in producing the observed in vivo helical flow patterns.
The entrance flows of coronary arteries are expected to be affected by flow in the aortic root, and the third aim was to explore these effects using models that include aorta and coronary arteries. The simulation results demonstrate that a pair of axial vortexes with different rotating directions exists in the entrance segments of the right and left coronary arteries during systole and early diastole, producing asymmetrical wall shear stress (WSS) distributions.
The last aim of the research was to examine possible relationships between WSS distributions induced by the entry flow patterns and the frequency distributions of atherosclerosis in the proximal segments of coronary arteries reported in the clinical literature. A close correspondence between low WSS and higher frequency of plaque occurrence was observed.
The tools developed in this study provide a promising avenue for future study of cardiovascular disease because of the ability to investigate phenomena in individual human subjects.
