This project aims to investigate the views of the researcher professors related to project management research financed with public funds. Specifically sought to know their reactions and expectations against the approval of the project, the key management practices, the difficulties to manage and the suggestions for improving this process. The methodology was developed, through a qualitative, exploratory, descriptive and analytical cutting type cross study. The information obtained through semi - structured i nterviews were recorded and transcribed. The subjects belonging to the Campus São Paulo of the Federal University of São Paulo, were selected intentionally and raffled among registered researcher professors as coordinators of projects and sub - projects financed by FINEP from 2005 to 2015. We interviewed 10 researchers using the saturation criterion. The data was analyzed through content analysis technique. The approval of a research project results in a sense of appreciation, pleasure and well - being, even though carrying a number of concerns for the researchers, with emphasis on bureaucracy considered to be a crucial point for the resource releases. The researchers believe that this process demands planning, organization and accompaniment and it requires sta ff support with preparation to the standard rules and legislation. They report that they learned management in practice without specific training and a major difficulty is the delay in the fund liberation, which affects the research progress. They suggest new or improved administrative structure of support to management at the University, the hiring of technical support, the previous definition of the purchased equipment installation site, the creation of a supplier database for quick access, agility in research and the creation of mechanisms for greater recognition of the researcher's work. Considering that this study’s data collect was conducted prior to the publication of the Law 13,243 / 2016, we believe that some aspects worrying the very researchers of this institution may be minimized in the near future. We believe that with the results of this research and the feasibility of new recommendations of the Legal Science Framework Law, changes can be implemented, contributing to the creation of new practices within the institution and, consequently, for the improvement of processes management of research projects.

For this we propose the implementation of three Scenarios For Research (Skovsmose, 2008) by which carpenters feel invited to ask questions and to seek explanations within their sociocultural context. The methodological approaches used follow a qualitative research approach, with the use of techniques and procedures coming from ethnography, such as: observation, semi-structured interviews, field diary, photos and footage. Accordingly, we seek the critical-reflective deepening of different ways to understand and deal with the world mathematically, ie, knowing and doing mathematics from different social groups and that manifest themselves in non-academic and non-academic environments. This analysis emerge three categories: the first emphasizes the "do together" and "learning with others" a level of understanding beyond the practical and efficient collective work; the second category reflects the appreciation of knowledge through the oppression of the dominant power, and the third category in the dialogical process never finished, far from being tedious. New perspectives emerge from reflections that flow to a level of understanding of another reality under a critical eye, permeated of impartiality, which is intended to write another story people marked by exclusion and marginalization.

Daňová podpora výzkumu a vývoje / Tax incentive for research and development

Krejčová, Dita January 2014 (has links)
Research and development is one of the technological indicators of developed countries. The vast majority of investment in this area comes from the private sector, it is therefore in the interests of each state to support the private sector investments in research and development. This thesis deals with the tax support of research and development in each of country of OECD. Subsequently the thesis describes tax incentive for research and development in the Czech Republic and the aim of the thesis is to test the hypothesis whether the tax incentive in Czech Republic has increased due to legislative changes effective from 1 January 2014.

Linking research education and education for sustainable development via projects

Holzbaur, U.D. January 2012 (has links)
Published Article / One of the main tasks of universities is to prepare students for an academic or professional career, and to make them responsible members of society by giving them the motivation and skills to create a better future. Education for Sustainable Development is a core feature of education in a university of the 21th century and in society. In a university, it has two aspects: firstly, to educate students and to help future academics to contribute to sustainable development, secondly, to contribute to sustainability and to spread education for sustainable development in the community. We consider examples of successful cooperation between the university and its stakeholders via projects that are relevant for education for sustainable development. We analyse the success factors and the educational and sustainability impacts of these projects.

Skola på vetenskaplig grund : hur uppfattar lärare och skolledare att de kan realisera skollagens skrivning om vetenskaplig grund i skola och förskola / School based on scientific research : how do teachers and school leaders comprehend that they can realize the school law´s writing concerning scientific research in school and preschool

Sjögren, Torun January 2014 (has links)
This paper investigates a number of attitudes to the formation of the Swedish School Law that education shall rest on a scientific base with the aim of getting a better understanding of which conditions and startingpositions these are for the implementing of the law. The basic data have been taken from a quantitative total survey which has been sent to school leaders and teachers on schools and pre-schools in a smaller commune. The response rate of the survey is 40 %. Then the data have been analysed and shown as descriptive statistics. The paper has a phenomenogical starting-point. The result shows that, generally, there is a positive attitude to using research in school and pre-school. The result indicates also that conversation with colleagues is the most important source of research and that one´s own research is the source that least contributes to scientific thinking in school and pre-schools. The study shows that what is considered to be the biggest obstacle for using research is lack of time and linguistic difficulties. The study points at a relatively low scientific base of conception concerning theories of knowledge and research methods. This can indicate a less developed professional language. The conclusion of the study is that much effort and creativity will be demanded concerning both organisation and knowledge in order to realize the formulation of the school law.

Interdisciplinary Research Experiences For Undergraduates: Two Mixed-Methods Studies

White, Beth 01 January 2017 (has links)
Despite the demand for a diverse STEM-educated population and workforce, college students have consistently turned away from these disciplines in large numbers, creating a persistent problem that many are trying to address. The aim of the National Science Foundation's Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program is to inspire, attract, and retain STEM majors. Funding supports undergraduate STEM students' engagement in real-world research alongside STEM mentors. As colleges and universities compete for funding for REUs, it is important to understand the mechanisms within summer research programs that resonate most deeply with undergraduate STEM researchers. While many studies reveal strong correlations between research experiences and STEM aspirations, less is known about the mechanisms within REU programs that support these gains. My research used quantitative and qualitative self-reported data from 20 REU students, 18 of whom were underrepresented minorities in STEM. Over two summers, these students, in cohorts of ten, came to the University of Vermont to participate in a team-oriented, 10-week REU: Interdisciplinary Research on Human Impacts in the Lake Champlain Ecosystem. Two mixed-methods studies, guided by the frameworks of the theory of possible selves, theory of self-efficacy for research, and social cognitive career theory, revealed four important program mechanisms that gave rise to gains in research skills, confidence and self-efficacy for research, and STEM career aspirations, particularly for individuals from underrepresented minority groups in STEM. Findings suggest that the program fostered student capacity building within a safe, inclusive, and positive setting where students experienced what it feels like to be an active participant in the world of research. Within this context, critical mechanisms that gave rise to gains in research skills, confidence and self-efficacy for research, and STEM career aspirations included: (1) experiential education through interdisciplinary research experiences, (2) student independence and ownership balanced with expert researcher guidance and support, (3) formal and informal mentoring networks where students were mentored and where they mentored others, and (4) the establishment of an intentional learning community that advanced leadership, research skill building, perseverance, and reflection. Results from this research cannot be generalized beyond the context of the Lake Champlain REU, however, findings are in alignment with the body of literature that highlights the positive effects of REUs on STEM majors' research skills, confidence and self-efficacy for research, and STEM career aspirations. Using mixed methods to identify and understand the within-program mechanisms that support student gains is a valuable new research approach for this field. Recognizing programmatic mechanisms across REU programs can lead to expansion, replication, and application of these models beyond one institution, resulting in more positive gains for more undergraduate STEM researchers.

Engajamento disciplinar produtivo e o ensino por investigação: estudo de caso em aulas de física no ensino médio / Productive Disciplinary Engagement and Teaching through Investigation: Physics class case study in high school.

Souza, Tadeu Nunes de 06 August 2015 (has links)
This thesis aimed to assess whether, and how, Teaching through Investigation can promote the Disciplinary Productive Engagement (DPE) of a group of high school Physics class students, from a public school located in the suburbs of Sao Paulo. DPE can be understood as an indicator of the degree of involvement in a class with the themes and practices of a discipline. To address the research subject, we conducted a literature review of research in science education and physics, and the involvement of students in the teaching and learning processes in formal education. We also reviewed studies about Teaching through Investiagtion, and the establishment of discursive interactions in the classroom. These studies allowed proposing engagement indicators, disciplinary engagement and productive disciplinary engagement that were used in the analysis of episodes that occurred in the classroom. The data analyzed in this study consist of classes recorded entirely in video, plus all teaching materials available to them during the application of an Investigative Teaching Sequence; which was about the theme \"wave-particle duality.\" By analyzing the speech of the students during the activities, and the interactions with the teacher and each other, it was observed engagement of the class several times during the activities proposed. However, the engagement was conditioned by teacher\'s actions.

It has made through a Master Programme of Education in Sciences and Mathematics at Federal university of Goiás. The study of geometry through the trial is a form of education defended by Education many researchers in mathematics education (ANDRADE; NACARATO, 2008; FAINGUELERNT, 1999; PAULO, 2001; PAVANELLO, 2007). Begin of a proposal to work through scenarios for mathematics research as it considers the student's participation in an investigative approach, through play and through the act of playing. Developed the project "Small Builder" in which students built mini-houses that the process of building geometric concepts we studied. The activities were developed in the Escola Municipal Santa Helena , at Goiania, in a room with 27 children between 10 and 12 years. The data were analyzed following the paths of qualitative research in a phenomenological approach. In the investigative process, we analyzed the ways of understanding expressed by the students and the educational intervention carried out by the teachers involved. The study converged to open three categories: the understandings expressed on the measures proposed scenario, the understandings expressed on ways and plane figures in the proposed scenario, the understandings expressed in addition to the geometry in the proposed scenario. These categories have shown the possibility of the project "Small Builder" is set as the for research, by enabling the study of geometry and also go beyond. The analysis showed the weaknesses of the teacher and student, and the ephemerality of the scenarios for research, allowing one to rethink the life-world classroom geometry.
