Dimensioning of slabs for high-speed railway lines / Dimensionering av plattor till banor för höghastighetståg

Mohlén, Marcus, Malmberg, Jesper, Hahrs, Filip January 2016 (has links)
The Swedish Transport Administration has been giving the task to set up a new standard for concrete slabs for the new high-speed railway in Sweden. They are demanding that the concrete slabs must be dimensioned according to the German Beton Kalender 2000. This report will explore the results when dimensioning a slab track, according to the German Beton Kalender 2000. Moment capacity, deformation, and crack width are calculated according to two structural theories, namely slab and beam theory, and a comparison between the two methods is presented.

The seat management strategies and benefit analysis of High-speed railway - A case study of reserved seat and non-reserved seat.

Lu, Wei-tong 15 July 2009 (has links)
Abstract In the past, seats on the management of the research focuses on exploring the best logical way for seats assignment to ensure the revenue maximizing, it¡¦s rarely to consider in the faces of management pressure and services requirement. Hence, this thesis will take a survey through market research studies to identify the reason of the shift of passenger from Non-reserved Seating to Reserved seating or the increase of rider-ship caused by the lower fare of Non-reserved Seating. After fully collection of the requirement of passengers and the consideration of High Speed Rail¡¦s operator, the ¡§Situational Analysis¡¨ mechanism is applied. The different Non-reserved car allotment will be arranged under different circumstance and their revenue will be evaluated as well. Finally, the recommendation of the High Speed Rail¡¦s seat management strategy from the point of view of revenue maximizing, operation consideration and passenger requirement will be provided. Key words¡GTaiwan High Speed Railway, Non-reserved Seating, Reserved Seating, Seat management strategy

Vibration Control of a High-Speed Railway Bridge Using Multiple Tuned Mass Dampers

Beygi, Heydar January 2015 (has links)
In the current thesis, the Banafjäl Bridge located on the Bothnia line (Botniabanan) in northern Sweden was studied. The bridge is a 40m long composite ballasted high-speed railway bridge. A 3D FE model of the bridge was developed using a commercial FE software, Abaqus. The FE model was calibrated against the measured data of the bridge. The dynamic response of the bridge's FE model was investigated under the dynamic load of the passing HSLM-A train using modal dynamic analysis. The vertical acceleration induced by excitation of the passing train exceeded the permissible limit of 3.5 m/s2 for the speed range of 220-240 km/h. Thus, damping solutions using multiple tuned mass dampers (MTMDs) were investigated. According to the results of this study, a 4 tonnes MTMD system consist of 5 parallel TMDs attached to the mid-span of the bridge could effectively control the undesired vibration of the bridge. The suggested solution could account for the changes in the stiffness of the bridge caused by freezing and ice forming in the ballast.

En svensk höghastighetsjärnväg - receptet för tillväxt och regional jämlikhet?

Pobiega, Tim, Bertilsson, Filip January 2018 (has links)
Sweden is potentially facing its largest infrastructure project in modern days - a high-speed railway with the main goal of connecting the nation’s three largest cities. The high-speed railway is likely to have a great impact on the physical environment and on the precondition for continued growth - both in the regions which will be included in the railway system, and the regions that will not. This thesis sheds light on the process of decision making within Sverigeförhandlingen, a negotiation process with local governments on which future national political decisions will be based.Through a profound literature review and several interviews with key actors involved in theprocess, this thesis proves that many of the arguments used by the project’s advocates are difficult to substantiate. Most problematic seems to be the way in which they neglect obvious tensions that the project is likely to result in - especially tensions concerning the relationship between national growth and increased geographic polarization. Our study emphasizes the need for distinct goals in infrastructure planning in order to ascertain which measures generate the greatest societal benefits. This is something we argue that Sverigeförhandlingen has failed to do.

A 3D Sliding Bearing Finite Element Based on The Bouc-Wen Hysteretic Model : Mathematical modelling and numerical implementation

Wei, Sicong January 2020 (has links)
Bridge bearing is an essential component with the function of connecting the superstructure and substructure of the bridge, transmitting load and providing movability to the superstructure. Under dynamic conditions, the internal friction of bridge bearing dissipates the vibration energy and therefore reduces the dynamic response of the bridge. Meanwhile, bearing friction is considered to have possible contribution to some nonlinear dynamic behaviour of the bridge structure, which requires further investigation. However, bearing friction, in most cases, are ignored or considered roughly and implicitly as part of structural damping in current bridge designing codes and methods. Most previous research was also focusing on bearing friction’s effect under high-amplitude vibration conditions, such as earthquake or heavy wind load. Bearing friction’s effect under common low-amplitude vibration in SLS such as train-induced vibration and vehicle-induced vibration is less attended. Although the effect of such low-amplitude vibration is less significant to structural safety, it plays an essential role to the bridge’s traffic safety and comfort. Meanwhile, the cumulative effect of such vibration can significantly influence the life and durability of bridge bearings due to its high occurring frequency. Hence, a clearer understanding of bearing dynamic behaviour is required to improve the understanding of bridge and bearing dynamics. In this thesis, an advanced numerical tool is developed for dynamic analysis of bearing friction. A 3D pot bearing finite element that can be implemented in commercial FE software ABAQUS, is programmed based on the mathematical friction models developed in previous research and the Bouc-Wen hysteretic model. Numerical results that accord with the results of relevant friction tests are produced by the calibrated and validated bearing finite element, giving proof that the element is capable to reflect the dynamic friction response of bridge pot bearing in reality. The 3D shell numerical model of Banafjäl bridge located on the Bothnia Line in Norrland, Sweden, is built as a study case of bridge dynamic analysis in this thesis, with implementation of the newly developed bearing element. The feasibility of implementing the bearing element in bridge dynamic analysis is proven by the numerical results. The nonlinear influence of bearing friction on the dynamic response of bridge structure, especially the influence on structural damping properties, is discussed preliminarily. The analysis results show that with the consideration of bearing friction, the damping presents a clear amplitude-dependency, which accords the phenomenon reported in previous research.
