January 2006 (has links)
The city of Franca - Brazil has in the shoemaker industry its main economic activity, being one of the biggest producing centers of footwear of the country. From the decade of 1950 the intensification of the process of industrialization of the sector occurred with the modern implantation production techniques, guided toward the increase of the productivity. These transformations had caused a significant population growth, putting in relief the migration of "mineiros", mostly agricultural former-workers. The industrial park is marked by the heterogeneity, agglomerating great industries with more than a thousand workers, even small repair shops. Recent studies had searched to analyse the experiences of the workers of the sector in the daily of work and the extra-factory. They had opened new perspectives of analysis, inside of which it inserts the present work. Along of the process of formation and the consolidation of the shoemaker industry in the city the women had occupied distinction position, composing about 40% of the force of work used in this productive sector. However, it occurs that the history of the working class of the city had been written principally in the masculine, it ignoring the experiences of the workers-women of the footwear. Thus, we had as main objectives to analyse the process of formation of the women being workers, the relations of work and the expressions of politic actions of a set of women-shoemaker that had been party of the proceeding of industrialization between the decades of 1950 and 1980. We worked with a corpus documental composed for verbal sources, trade union documents and other sources printed. It was possible to verify that the workers had lived deeply a process of socialization characterized for the sexual division of the work and subordination to the men since the initial years of its lives, persistent characteristics in its experiences as workers...(Complete abstract click electronic access below) / Mestre

Costruba, Deivid Aparecido. January 2011 (has links)
Deste modo, a pesquisa visou perceber a imagem da mulher nos manuais e entender de que forma eles contribuíram para a higienização no âmbito familiar / Abstract: This dissertation analyzes some questions about the image of women in the work of Julia Lopes de Almeida, presented in her "domestic science" manuals: Livro das Noivas (1896) and Livro das Donas e Donzelas (1906). These literary works give insight into the writer's idea of women. Her guides were an example of the new genre in France. In this country, starting in the seventeenth century and escalating in the nineteenth century, these textbooks encouraged the "science of civilization". Translated to the Brazilian context, during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries clinicians, intellectuals and educators were entrusted with the task of modernizing the Brazilian population. The new hygiene moral transformed household behavior. Julia Lopes de Almeida was one intellectual who wrote manuals to help educate women of the Rio society. In sum, her research aimed to better understand women and how they contributed to the family's hygiene / Mestre

O Lugar, a presença e o tratamento dado às mulheres no livro didático da EJA: espaço negado, espaço reivindicado / The place, the presence and treatment given to women in the texbook of EJA: denied place, place required

Costa, Dalva de Oliveira 31 August 2011 (has links)
This study examined the treatment given to women in Textbook (LD) of Youth and Adults (EJA) and the legal system consisting of CF/1988 by LDBEN 9.394/96 and the PNE/2001, by the CNE / CEB / 2000 and the Hamburg Declaration: Agenda for the Future guiding public policy education for the area. Its relevance lies in its dual perspective: the withdrawal of the invisibility of women and the announcement of the visibility and appreciation of them. As for the methodological approach, this work fits the paradigm of qualitative research, whose analysis of the legal framework was performed using the technique of document analysis and content analysis. The analysis of the GT was based on the methodology recommended by the sociologist, researcher at the Centre Nationalde Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) of France, Andrée Michel in his book: "No stereotypes!: Overcoming sexism in children/s books and textbooks" . The survey results indicate that although the CF/88 represent a significant advance both in terms EJA, for equality of rights and duties between men and women, these advances are minimally maintained in the aforementioned corporate planning and even ignored in all of its operation, since when analyzing Chapter II The Basic Education - Section V - for Youth and Adults of LDBEN/96, it appears that there is a silence on the issue of gender on women. We come to the conclusion that this silencing is due to the removal of rights policy effected by the federal government, the neo-liberal orientation that through constitutional amendments, decrees and provisional measures, intervened in the process of processing and approval of LDBEN/96 and PNE/2001 of changing the CF/98, and this law has adapted to the dictates of the World Bank.

Space and commercial sexual exchanges, understand the "Lighthouse" among other settings, as a place and practiced as a heterotopic space deviation from theorists such as Foucault (2001) and Certeau (1994). I made use of the oral method and from there I interviewed eleven people selected according to age and knowledge of the historical facts of Olivedos linked to the Lighthouse and Joan Black. For reasons of memory discussion embasei me in theoretical as Candau (2011), with their ratings of memory and Montenegro (2007), for discussion of orality. The look of the research was guided, in the first chapter to Joan Black discussion as protagonist Lighthouse, historicizing the term "black" and their representations to understand how the name of Joan began to be accompanied by the term in the sense surname. In the second chapter problematizei the identity configurations Joan Francelino Lima, comprising from Hall (2000, p. 108), that identities are "fragmented and fractured," multiple. Also in this chapter, I presented the Joan Black tactics for meeting sexual partners and their encounter with the Catholic Church. In the third chapter, I analyzed the Lighthouse and its representations to Olivedos as "practiced place," multiple and named according to the configuration assigned by popular. In the fourth chapter, I analyzed the historical plot that led to deactivation of the lighthouse at the expense of the Municipality of urbanization process. So the historiographical operation here is woven from the space for discussion, as well as Joan identities as protagonist Lighthouse and representation of the History of Women in Olivedos-PB. Thus, these and other stories about Joan and the Lighthouse will be found here from what makes the historian and will be representations of Paraiba history / A pesquisa teve como objetivo perscrutar as memórias referentes ao “Farol e a Joana Preta,” em Olivedos - PB, (1940-1970).

This work makes a comparative analysis of Desmundo novels (1996), by the Brazilian writer Ana Miranda and Finisterre (2005) by the Argentine writer, María Rosa Lojo. We propose to show how the selected novels have an affinity in the way of conceiving the reconstruction of the heroines, through of the traumatic historical episodes review of the Sixteenth and Nineteenth century, which allow to figures of the orphan and white slave woman an emblematic role in the ideal of building which in the future would be the modern Latin American nations. The questioning of the racial and cultural myths is done from the individual memories and shared with the collective imagination that present a unique version of the story, through of the woman's voice marginal eye. Furthermore, we intend to verify the tensions between the Other and the woman, in which we see reflected the relationships between the protagonists and the discourses that legitimize the authority of the dominant identities. In this sense, we can read important ideological discussions that cross the novels and confirm the nation deconstruction of the univocity of the founding discourses and the desire to re-foundation of its bases for reconciliation between pairs traditionally opposed. We take as theoretical basis the studies of Historiographical Metafiction by Linda Hutcheon (1991) and studies about Latin American's New Historical Novel (PERKOWSKA, 2008), among others, to assess the gender cultural aspects, the dialogue with literary and historiographical tradition, the ideological identifications and the fictional characters construction.

Hunger in war and peace : an analysis of the nutritional status of women and children in Germany, 1914-1924

Cox, Mary Elisabeth January 2014 (has links)
At the onset of the First World War, Germany was subject to a shipping embargo by the Allied forces. Ostensibly military in nature, the blockade prevented not only armaments but also food and fertilizers from entering Germany. The impact of this blockade on civilian populations has been debated ever since. Germans protested that the Allies had wielded hunger as a weapon against women and children with devastating results, a claim that was hotly denied by the Allies. The impact of what the Germans termed the 'Hungerblockade' on childhood nutrition can now be assessed using various anthropometric sources on school children, several of which are newly discovered. Statistical analysis reveals a grim truth: German children suffered severe malnutrition due to the blockade. Social class impacted risk of deprivation, with working-class children suffering the most. Surprisingly, they were the quickest to recover after the war. Their rescue was fuelled by massive food aid organized by the former enemies of Germany, and delivered cooperatively with both government and civil society. Children, and those who cared for them, responded to these acts of service with gratitude and joy. The ability of former belligerents to work together after an exceptionally bitter war to feed impoverished children may hold hope for the future.
