Hur Skanningsbeteende Kan Predicera Prestation : En undersökning av elitspelare i Svenska DamhockeyliganSjösten, Linus January 2023 (has links)
Ice hockey demands quick calls and successful actions to be able to win games. It is therefore important to scan the environment to make good actions. To scan means that you turn your head or your body away from the puck to get an idea of where the opponents and your team-mates are located. The purpose of this study is to examine how visual scanning behavior can prejudice performance and how the frequency of scanning differs between different actions amongst players in the Swedish women hockey league (SDHL). By analyzing real games in SDHL we get to see the elite players in their natural performance environment. The analysis was conducted in the program dartfish where we gathered 10 games with three different teams. 3393 sequences was analyzed which led to that 1747 was used to get our result. The result shows that scanning creates improved odds in making the next performance successful. Further the study shows that scanning frequency was higher when the idea of the action was to move the game towards the offensive zone, these actions was passing directly to a player, passing to an open space and moving yourself with the puck to an open space. The study also showed that when shooting and covering the puck the scanning frequency was lower than those actions before, though shooting had statistically significant higher scanning frequency than covering the puck. The action deflection was shown to not be statistically significant. With this study we want to mediate how important scanning behavior is in ice hockey and how scanning can give the puck carrying team an advantage.

Aim The purpose of this study is to investigate whether plyometric training improves ice hockey goalies' change of direction (COD) at junior level on-ice. The study is based on the following question: Does the COD of ice hockey goalies improve after an eight-week training intervention consisting of plyometric training?Null hypothesis: Plyometric training does not improve COD for junior ice hockey goaltenders. Method The questions in the study were by conducting a training study with male ice hockey goalies (n=13) at the junior level (born 2004-2008). Based on randomization, the participants in the study were be divided into two groups, a training group (n-7) and a control group (n-6). Before and after the training intervention, an on-ice test will be carried out by all participants. After that, the intervention group will perform plyometric training, twice per week during an eight-week period. The effect of the training intervention will be evaluated by comparing the groups' results (before and after the intervention) to investigate whether there are differences between the intervention and control groups. Result The results showed that the training group's mean value (3.82 seconds) improved more than the control group's mean value (4.03 seconds), however, the difference between the groups was not statistically significant (p=0.05), thus the null hypothesis is retained in the study. The results show that there is a tendency for improvement (p=0.082), thus a low assumption of the null hypothesis. The significance level was set at p <0.05 and the tendency level values were set at 0.05<p<0.1. Conclusion There was a tendency towards improvement in COD for the training group, however, the differences between the training group and the control group were not significant at post-test. The results show that plyometric training tends to have a positive effect on COD, which can be used as a framework for players and coaches as well as useful as a basis for future training planning for ice hockey goalies at junior level.

An investigation into normative values for the Functional Movement Screen?(FMS?) and its association to injury in female premier league hockey players in KwaZulu-NatalJooste, Anneke 04 March 2015 (has links)
Submitted in partial compliance with the requirements for the Master’s Degree in Technology: Chiropractic,Durban University of Technology, 2014. / Background
The Functional Movement Screen (FMSTM) is a pre-participation screen consisting of seven tests that rate a player’s functional movement. The screen may be used as an indicator for injury susceptibility in sports people. This may be implemented for preventative measures and improving or sustaining performance in sport.
Objectives
This research aimed to identify normative values on the FMSTM for female premier league hockey players and assess the association between FMSTM scores and incidence of seasonal injuries. Secondary to this, the research also undertook to assess dependence of the FMSTM on other risk factors identified in the study such as age, number of years playing hockey, height, weight, BMI and position. These risk measures were also tested for association to injury susceptibility.
Method
The research evaluated the FMSTM score in female premier league hockey players in KwaZulu-Natal prior to the commencement of the competitive season and then tracked the incidence, frequency and distribution of injuries that were sustained during the season. All nine teams in the KwaZulu-Natal female premier hockey league were approached and the players voluntarily participated provided that they fitted the inclusion criteria. In total 74 players between the ages of 18 and 35 were assessed. SPSS version 20 was used in the data analysis to test for statistical significance of the results.
Results and conclusions
The research sample revealed a mean FMSTM score of 14.39 with a standard deviation of 2.4. The difference in average FMSTM score between the 18 players who sustained non-contact injuries during the course of the season and the 56 players who did not was shown to not be statistically significant at a 95% confidence level. Therefore, this research shows that no association can be made between a low score on the Functional Movement ScreenTM and injury susceptibility. The FMSTM score was shown to be an independent metric when compared to the other injury risk measures identified in the study and the other risk measures were also found to not reliably indicate injury susceptibility. Having said this, the association of weight, FMSTM and BMI with injury susceptibility warrants further investigation as these measures indicated a degree of association. / M
