Made available in DSpace on 2015-05-14T13:16:33Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 arquivototal.pdf: 1511081 bytes, checksum: 15cf12e97a61817295a3f17c497f5fec (MD5) Previous issue date: 2010-12-01 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / The current dissertation aimed at evaluating the influence of human values, judgment and meaning, and need for cognition in the choice and attributes of postal services. In accordance with these objectives, two studies were conducted. Study 1 aimed at knowing the psychometrics parameters of the Attributes of Postal Services Scale and the Judgment and Meaning Scale for services, and testing the theoretical model with a sample of students. Participants were 215 students of a public university in João Pessoa (PB), most of them females (61.40%), with mean age of 20 years old (sd = 3.79). A preliminary statistical analysis indicated that all items presented satisfactory discriminative power. Prior to performing the factor analysis, the suitability of using this technique was checked, and for both scales results were adequate: Attribute of Postal Services [KMO = 0.70, Bartlett‟s Sphericity Test, χ ² (210) = 1183.31 p <0.001], and Judgment and Meaning Scale [KMO = 0.75, Bartlett‟s Sphericity Test, χ ² (300) = 1210.93, p <0.001]. A PAF (Principal Axis Factoring) was conducted, without fixing the number of factors and rotation. According to what was expected, in both scales a two-factor solution emerged, and reliability indexes (Cronbach‟s Alpha) were 0.81 and 0.76, respectively. These results evince the factor validity and reliability for both instruments. The theoretical model was confirmed by the correlations found between the symbolic attributes of postal services with emotive judgment and meaning (r = 0.46, p <0.01); the normative (r = 0.24, p <0.01 ) and interactional subfunction of values (r = 0.23, p <0.01); and need for cognition (r = -0.15, p <0.05); as well as the correlation found between the utilitarian attributes of postal services with rational judgment and meaning (r = 0.28, p <0.01); and need for cognition (r = 0.14, p <0.05). This model fitted the empirical data [χ ² (7) = 17.77, p = 0.01, χ ² / df = 2.54, GFI = 0.98, AGFI = 0.91, CFI = 0.95 and RMSEA = 0.085 (0.03 - 0.14); PCLOS = 0.10]. The documents‟ importance and the services attributes were better predictors of the choice of postal services, and the mails‟ opening priority was influenced by the psychological variables measured. Study 2 aimed at testing the same theoretical model with a sample of postal service users. Participants were 238 clients of postal offices of João Pessoa (PB), 50.8% were female and the mean age was 32 years old (sd = 11.45). Findings were similar to Study 1 results, with the exception of the correlations hypothesized to need for cognition. The model also proved to be adjusted to the empirical data [χ ² (7) = 14.88, p = 0.04, χ ² / df = 2.13, GFI = 0.98, AGFI = 0.93, CFI = 0, 97 and RMSEA = 0.07 (0.02 - 0.11); PCLOS = 0.22]. The documents‟ importance and the services attributes were better predictors of choice of postal services and mails‟ opening priority. The psychological variables measured showed greater influence in this study. In conclusion, it is hoped that the aims proposed in this dissertation were reached. Therefore, it is likely it presents a contribution to this field in Social Psychology: the influence of psychological variables in the behavior of postal services‟ consumption.

Mainly because it is a theme connected to many themes embedded in psychology, such as welfare, sexuality, school performance, criminal behavior, etc. In the organizational environment, this issue can be well spent to be studied in line with several other relevant themes as performance, types of leadership and personality characteristics. This study aimed to develop an instrument that seeks to assess trends in organizational behavior based on functionalist theory of human values. The study will follow the basic topics for the development of tests, such as: array of specifications, items representing the descriptors of the theory, the judges analysis, standardization of electronic and print application, analysis of internal consistency of items, discriminative power analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, comparison of data samples, and intra-group standards. Data collection occurred in industries of the Polo Industrial de Manaus and in an electronic questionnaire with people who worked at the time of collection. Statistical analyzes were performed according to the reported above. Inconsistency was found in some of these analyzes, it was concluded that the instrument is not yet ready for mass deployment by requiring adjustments / Os valores humanos são centrais no estudo do ser humano.

The Stories We Tell : Designing Values-Oriented Narratives of Radical Change Initiatives Towards Sustainability

Alves, Sérgio, Fercho, Wiebke, Scott, Erica January 2014 (has links)
While extensive communication around the sustainability challenges have lead to increased awareness, the expected behavior change correspondent to that level of awareness has not been observed. After decades of information-based sustainability communication the research community recognizes values as important drivers of peoples behavior. Consequently, communication needs to be designed intentionally, so as to implement the change necessary in order to shift society to a sustainable level where the global community lives within the planetary boundaries. This thesis was inspired by this call from the field of sustainability science for a new narrative around sustainability that would inspire more radical change. In the first step we used the European Citizens ́ Initiative for an Unconditional Basic Income (EUBI) as a case study, to analyze what types of values the current narrative of the EUBI speaks to and compare that with the values of the population of the European Union. In the second step our research focused on what types of Guidelines could be developed so as to intentionally design a values-oriented narrative. We identified three ways in which the narrative of EUBI is misaligned with the values of the population of the European Union. We identified as well 13 Guidelines for designing a values-oriented narrative that could contribute in moving society strategically towards sustainability. When utilizing the Guidelines as a tool in crafting a potentially more successful narrative as part of a new sustainability communication, the contribution to SSD may be to strategically overcome the above described misalignment and inspiring more action to bridge the gap.

Somos fruto da nossa socialização: a influência das crenças pessoais no comprometimento organizacional / We are the fruit of our socialization: the influence of personal beliefs in organizational commitment

Ribas, Fabio Teodoro Tolfo 06 August 2010 (has links)
Often, organizations are will with problems that can be either internal or external, which can cause multiple consequences. By studying the relationship of personal values on organizational commitment is proposed to identify and understand the types of beliefs that are related to specific types of linkages prevailing in a sample of employees from various companies in the city of South Boxes The study presents a predominantly quantitative approach, descriptive in nature. The instrument used for data collection was composed of three parts. The first part aimed to identify the profile of the sample investigated, the second part, based on Monday, Porter and Steers (1979) and also Meyer, Allen and Smith (1991) tried to verify aspects related to organizational commitment and the third part, developed from the study of Gouveia (2003) aimed at identifying the human values. Data analysis tests were performed descriptive statistics, correlations between personal values and constructs of organizational commitment and application of regression models, including analysis of the mean, median and standard deviation, was also performed internal consistency of the subsystems of values and personal constructs of organizational commitment, and reliability of these from the Cronbach's Alphas. The relevance of this issue is guided by previous research demonstrating the importance of personal values as a mechanism for explanation of various socio-psychological phenomena, so we attempted to find relationships in the workplace between individual beliefs (personal values) on the different types of links ( organizational commitment) with the organization. The results showed that the models obtained nnhum despite meet the statistical assumptions, showed a high degree of explanation, indicating that the values studied did not contribute significantly to the understanding of the commitment of employees.

Experiences of Laotian teachers of the Human Values Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Education training programme

Padayachee, Silverani 01 1900 (has links)
Access to safe water and improved sanitation remains threatened by the ever increasing demand in urbanised cities of the world. Adequate management of this problem could not be achieved through technical and regulatory methods alone. A human values-based education approach, namely the Human Values Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Education (HVWSHE) programme, was considered a suitable intervention strategy to bring about the desired changes in attitude and behaviour by the water users. This research involves an empirical case study approach that explores the experiences of Laotian teachers as adult learners of the HVWSHE intervention as well as a literature study on adult education, adult learning facilitation, human values-based education and teacher beliefs. Focus group meetings, lesson observations, participant observation, field notes and a researcher journal was used to collect data. This study revealed that the HVWSHE training programme had a positive effect on the adult learners’ attitude and behaviour towards a better water-use and sanitation-friendly ethic. / Educational Studies / M. Charitativní organizace, jako významný prvek pomoci školství v jižní Indii / Charitable organizations such as a significant element of aid for education in South India

Paličková, Petra January 2012 (has links)
The thesis "Charitable organizations, as an important element in helping schools in South India" discusses what is currently the situation in education in India and how charities can contribute to its improvement, and therefore that this role of government in his country doesnot so much attention it would deserve the Indian population. At the beginning of his work dealing with the issue of psychological personality formation and describe the conditions in which Indian children grow up, the negative aspects of India and its education. The thesis also deals with the current reference of great spiritual teachers of India, explores his life's work, demonstrates a unique and sophisticated system of education at the same time proposing a solution, how can India improve their current situation. The practical part deals with ethnographic research charities from South India, which created a unique concept to help abandoned street children in India and has already saved many lives and children's souls. In my work I come from personal knowledge and experience of Bindu civic association, which I founded in 2010 to support the education of children in southern India.

Berthevas, Jean-François 13 December 2013 (has links)
French institutions are now "massively" victims of attempted theft of information . But the human being is the weakest link in security devices information (IS). In particular, the use of personal networks by employees is likely to support innovation activity ... while creating potential loopholes for IS. Therefore, in particular, this doctoral work attempts to progress in the knowledge of human factors to improve IS measures. We focus our work on information exchange between employees of all organizations (government departments, large and small enterprises, ... ) . To answer our questions, we developed a conceptual model based on the context of action that includes notably the mobilization of personal networks, the influence of individual and organizational values and actors’ perception of organizational security measures in place in their organization. We note the importance of organizational culture and behavior perceived of the local Manager as key elements of the IS.
