Kamirah, Daniel K. 10 1900 (has links)
ITC/USA 2009 Conference Proceedings / The Forty-Fifth Annual International Telemetering Conference and Technical Exhibition / October 26-29, 2009 / Riviera Hotel & Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada / This paper provides an introduction to the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) scheme which has been proposed for future aeronautical telemetry applications. OFDM offers the potential for high data rates on radio channels with multipath such as aeronautical telemetry channels. This paper provides in introduction to OFDM and demonstrates how orthogonality is maintained over multipath channels by the introduction of a guard band and by the inclusion of a cyclic prefix. The simulation of OFDM in multipath is simulated and performance results are presented that show the degradation of this scheme on a multipath channel with and without the guard band and the cyclic prefix.

Redes inter-organizacionais: estudo de políticas de cooperação em biotecnologia no Brasil / Inter-organizational nets: a study on biotechnology cooperation politics in Brazil

Prestes Junior, Norberto Honorato 07 March 2008 (has links)
This work has as main purpose the evaluation of the current biotechnology scenery in Brazil in economical, political and institutional terms and, based on those information, to evaluate the pre-existent conditions that favor the implantation of an inter-organizational net of biotechnology companies in Brazil. In order to make possible such evaluation it was accomplished a bibliographical review that brought information on: biotechnology as a business opportunity; the national and international biotechnology sceneries; the characteristics of the technological based companies and the biotechnology in Brazil; the main concepts of cooperation net; the current atmosphere and the politics for innovation and incentive to the development of the biotechnology in Brazil. To validate the conceptual picture a field research about the recent experience of BRBiotec - Brazilian Net of Companies of Biotechnology took place. This net was born with the purpose of impelling the several productive chains that use the biotechnology in Brazil. It was adopted, for collection of field information, systemization and interpretation of the data and quantitative and qualitative methodology combined as electronic questionnaire. The obtained results point to the need of institutionalization of a net as essential instrument for the consolidation of the biotechnology in Brazil, involving, not only public organization, but mainly business organizations.

Análise crítica da carta-testamento de Getúlio Vargas: uma abordagem inter/transdisciplinar / Critic review of the letter/will of Getúlio Vargas: an inter/transdisciplinary approach

Nicola, Nilton Cesar 05 May 2016 (has links)
In an inter/transdisciplinary approach, the researcher intends to articulate the ACD with the study of socio-economic-political structures of a certain historical moment, in this case, the Brazilian, on the second half of the 20th Century. The Letter-testament left by the gaucho politician Getúlio Dornelles Vargas, then president of the Republic, by the time of his suicide, at the Palace of Catete, Rio de Janeiro, on August 24th, 1954, became the main object for an inter/transdisciplinary analyses, having as its epistemological support, the Critical Linguistic. In such analyses, theoretical bases were found in the studies of Norman Fairclough, Teun A. van Dijk, Michael A. K. Halliday, amongst others. Edgar Morin´s ideas, expert on the theory of complex thought, enriched the part of the work related to the inter/transdisciplinary approach. Hilton Japiassu´s thoughts of the role of inter/transdisciplinary approach to scientific research have been incorporated here as well. Contributions from the studies of the ethos of a discourse were taken into consideration. Based on the above principals, a linguistic, social and political analysis were done over the Letter-testament, signed by the enunciator (Getúlio Vargas), in whose text he reveals a will for domination and political manipulation of the Brazilian people. The categories studied were the historical, emotional, mystic, linguistic and discursive ethos. As the work is developed, it is possible to construct a dialogue between the linguistic and the social theories, due to the inter/transdisciplinary and contextualized approach. Going one step further, one can say that limiting ACD to the simple analyses of language (in fact, running away from its aims) is harmful to a more complete vision of the signals socially constructed and integrated. The conclusion goes for the possible dialogue amongst ACD and other social sciences in an inter/transdisciplinary approach, taking into consideration the context of the Letter-testament, the discourse as a social practice, and how the relationships of power, domination and control can be stablished and maintained through different ways of using a language.

Abstraction and modular verification of inter-enterprise business processes / Abstraction et vérification modulaire des processus métier inter-entreprise

Ochi, Hanen 11 December 2015 (has links)
Today's corporations often must operate across organizational boundaries. Phenomena such as electronic commerce, extended enterprises, and the Internet stimulate cooperation between organizations. We propose a bottom-up approach to check the correct interaction between business processes distributed over a number of organizations. The whole system's model being unavailable, an up-down analysis approach is simply not feasible. We consider two correctness criteria of Inter-Enterprise Business Processes (IEBP) composed by two (or more) business processes communicating either synchronously or asynchronously and sharing resources : a generic one expressed with the well known soundness property (and some of its variants), and a specic one expressed with any linear time temporal logic formula. Each part of the whole organization exposes its abstract model, represented by a Symbolic Observation Graph (SOG), in order to allow the collaboration with possible partners. We revisited and adapted the SOG in order to reduce the verification of the entire composite model to the verification of the composition of the SOG-based abstractions. We implemented our verification algorithms, aiming at checking both specic and generic properties using SOGs, and compared our approach to some well known verification tools. The experimental results are encouraging in terms of both the construction time and the size of the abstraction's size. This strengthen our belief that the SOGs are suitable to abstract and to compose business processes especially when these are loosely coupled.

Campus Sert?o, it was concluded that the existing teaching practices are not in fact integrated. So, the used approach was inter and transdiscip-linary studies of Habermas? communicative action. It was realized that the internet would be a potential tool of dialogue spaces. Technological concepts, technologies in education as an a interdisciplinary space and the internet as a act-communication tool were studied. Questio-naires were applied to groups of teachers and students. Considering the obtained results, it was made a campus technological map. Based on this map it was realized that computers and internet access were available 24 hours per day. The surveyed groups know and use this tools, but desconsider them as a teaching resource. The results also demonstrate the teachers and students involvement degree with the several technological tools. Based on obtained data it was suggested a methodological proposal for the Integrated Agricultural Technical High School Course. This proposal consists in a inter/transdisciplinary teaching that involves cross cutting themes, using the internet as a dialogue facilitator tool, the communicative action as a basis philosophical discussion and consensus and technological concepts / Tomando como par?metro uma experi?ncia pr?tica realizada com turmas de segunda s?rie do curso T?cnico em Agropecu?ria Integrado ao Ensino M?dio, no IFRS ?

Understanding collaboration in inter-organisational information systems: Implications for supply chain management

Pang, Vincent Ying Kiun, Information Systems, Technology & Management, Australian School of Business, UNSW January 2008 (has links)
This thesis seeks to explore how management can work together to adopt an Inter-organisational Information System (IOIS) for Supply Chain Management (SCM) at different levels of collaboration sophistication. 20 common issues associated with collaboration and adoption of IOIS for SCM, were identified from the current literature. Two theoretical frameworks were developed. First, an IOIS for SCM Adoption Framework was constructed to understand the IOIS for SCM adoption process. Secondly, an Inter-organisational Collaboration Framework was constructed and used as a lens to examine and understand the process of inter-organisational collaboration. Five underlying theories, namely agency, needs and motivation, resource dependency, cultural and negotiated order, were drawn on to develop an understanding of collaboration in this latter framework. The study of collaboration for IOIS adoption is exploratory. Eight organisations were approached from three industries and sixteen interviews were carried out with managers who are involved in the supply chain activities. Data was primarily collected using an interview instrument based on literature, and documentary and archival evidence. Interviews were transcribed and cross-case analysis was conducted on the data. Three of the four levels of collaboration sophistication were supported. At the highest level of collaboration, namely cooperation sophistication, the organisations that were studied have growth motivations, same interests and common business objectives, and prepare to develop strategy and finance projects while reengineering their business processes and redesigning their supply chains collectively. Collaboration is not limited to one dimension but multi-dimensional. An organisation collaborates with its partners in one project but that at the same time, they may not want to collaborate on a different project due to differences in business objectives. When there is a disagreement between parties, negotiation is an important process to help resolve their differences. The process of collaboration was summarised into three perspectives: industry, intra-organisational and inter-organisational. These perspectives can assist practitioners who need to understand how to address the process of collaboration in the adoption of IOISs for SCM with their partners.

Coordination of inter-organizational projects within creative industries: A contextual perspective

Abebe, Meaza Eshetu, Kalinina, Ekaterina January 2012 (has links)
Inter-organizational projects have become common forms of organizing in various industries such as construction, advertising, music, film making etc. The unique structural nature of Inter-organizational projects coupled with the fact that they carried out through the participation of multiple organizations, raises issues of coordination. Particularly when it comes to creative industries, coordination is challenged by demand and transactional uncertainties. In order to understand how inter-organizational projects achieve coordination in such situations, it is important to study their interior processes putting in consideration their environmental context.  The aim of this research is to study how network embeddedness enhances coordination in inter-organizational projects within creative industries. Inter-organizational projects: are projects that are carried out through the collaboration of multiple legally independent organizations Inter-organizational networks: refer to sets of long-term ties among independent organizations that are engaged in continuous exchange relations. Embeddedness: refers to the continuous interaction of individuals, organizations, projects etc. with their environmental context. Macrocultures: refer to the shared beliefs, norms values rules and practices with in inter- organizational networks that guide members on their actions. A qualitative approach using a multiple comparative case study was conducted. Accordingly four projects chosen from creative industries were studied using both primary and secondary data. Macrocultures that are embedded inter-organizational networks facilitate coordination within inter-organizational projects. Further projects that differ in their constituents task nature, time duration and team composition relied on different types of embeddedness for coordination.

The Determinants and Evolution of Major Inter-firm Transactions in the U.S. Apparel Sector

Zhao, Xiao 12 September 2013 (has links)
This study provides a systematic description of the nature and evolution of major transactions in the U.S. apparel sector, using a theory that applies across sectors. This research investigates the determinants of the existence and magnitude of major inter-firm transactions, relying on a unique longitudinal dataset of over 2,000 of the largest transactional (buy-sell) relations between publicly traded firms in the U.S. apparel sector. The results indicate the importance of inter-firm complementarity, rather than inter-firm similarity, in explaining the sector architecture; thus contributing to the future improvement of industry classification systems. This study also contributes to a deeper understanding of the apparel sector focusing on the change in the relative importance of manufacturing activities versus service activities and in the involvement of firms from the outside apparel sector. Implications of inter-firm transactions are discussed regarding industry policies, and human and environmental welfare in manufacturing and raw materials industries.
