The RF (radio frequency) aspect of an IWC (indoor wireless communication) system which operates in the 60 GHz range is designed and implemented. The overall system should be capable of providing indoor office communications for a maximum of 200 basic rate ISDN (integrated services digital network) subscribers, and BER (bit error rate) of 10⁻⁶ or less. The system feasibility study is based on the assumptions of using BPSK (binary phase shift keying) modulation, DSCDMA (direct sequence code division multiple access) spread spectrum technique and an EIRP (effective isotropically radiated power) of 100 milliwatt or less. A line of sight scheme is adopted which makes use of a propagation arrangement that confines the radiation to a region of space seldom occupied in the open office environment. The design of an appropriate antenna system which meets such a requirement is presented. Using the specially designed antennas and commercially available millimetric wave components, a one direction basic RF system is implemented. The indoor propagation characteristics and fading statistics of the system are experimentally obtained. It is found that the fading is Rician, with a K ratio (fading signal power/steady signal power) of less than -20.2 dB, and that the RF system can support the type of communication service proposed. / Applied Science, Faculty of / Electrical and Computer Engineering, Department of / Graduate

Adding new aircraft functionality or installing special purpose instrumentation often requires significant engineering and aircraft down time to complete. PLC-based networks can reduce project cost and schedule by enabling localized aircraft modifications and leveraging existing aircraft wiring for the Ethernet medium. PLC standards continue to evolve and achieve greater throughput rates and noise mitigation. Ethernet communications have been tested over AC and DC power busses, data busses, and discrete wiring. PLC networks have been successfully demonstrated in avionics test beds and aircraft (including live video transfers) without causing interference to the basic systems or the underlying wiring functionality. PLC transceivers provide a cost effective solution to the adding Ethernet capabilities or Ethernet-based subsystems to existing aircraft.

Relations with pupils are very important sphere of trainer’s activity. Efficiency of trainer’s and athletes’ interaction depends on that, what expectations pupils relate with their trainer and how the trainer realizes those expectations himself. Analysis of the trainer’s personality and viewpoint of athletes towards it should help in looking for more efficient relation of a trainer with his athletes. After all, knowing the viewpoint of his athletes the trainer will be able to draw certain conclusions about mutual relationship and to improve quality of his work. The key objective of the research is to analyse viewpoint of various performance aerobics and body-building athletes and trainers’ towards sport educator’s personality and peculiarities of intercommunication. There were 90 respondents participating in the research aged from 18 to 52. The task group consisted of 34 aerobics athletes and 10 aerobics trainers; 32 body-building athletes and 14 body-building trainers. After completion of the research it is possible to draw conclusions that high peak performance aerobics representatives evaluated trainer’s creativity and friendliness higher and low peak performance athletes – his communicability, erudition, ability to communicate, energy, dutifulness, friendliness, sense of humour, workability, sincerity, physical fitness, correct posture. One of the main problems that face decision makers in healthcare systems is complexity and the lack of a well-defined problem. This causes a lack of understanding about the system. Another problem associated with healthcare systems is that usually there are several stakeholders involved in decision making. In such cases different stakeholders may have different views about the problem. In addition to the lack of understanding and intercommunication, there is the tendency in healthcare management to use quantitative methods for analysing the system. These methods are highly data dependant and usually based on historical data, which may not reflect the system's performance under the present circumstances, given the changing pace of healthcare services and structure. Also data may not be available in the first place. This research looks at how modelling techniques may help healthcare stakeholders to understand their system and increase their level of intercommunication (in the case of multiple stakeholders) with minimum dependency on data. Two main aspects are considered in this research: first appraising the existing modelling techniques with regard to problem understanding and intercommunication, and second, looking for an effective modelling approach for achieving such objectives. Discrete Event Simulation (DES) offers good facilities for modelling for understanding. However, DES could be used more effectively to enable viable understanding and means of communication. It is assumed that in order to enhance stakeholders' understanding and intercommunication, that it is better to involve them in the process of modelling from the beginning, using an iterative modelling process, and without being restricted to logical steps. To achieve this a case study strategy is followed in order to devise a modelling framework that helps in enhancing stakeholders' understanding and intercommunication. In this particular research Single Case approach is employed using two case studies. The first case study is used as an attempt to evaluate the hypotheses and tackle research questions which are raised based on an analysis of findings from the literature. The experimentation and analysis part are used to refine the initial hypotheses. These hypotheses are then examined using the second case study to establish a picture about how to achieve the research objectives. In both case studies simulation modelling is examined with regard to the research questions. The thesis concludes by identifying a modelling approach that has high versatility and flexibility to enhance stakeholders understanding and intercommunication. The approach is called MAPIU2, which stands for a Modelling Approach that is Iterative Participative for Understanding. From its name it can be deducted that the main factors of this approach are based on involving the stakeholders in the modelling process from the beginning in an iterative behaviour. One of the main lessons learned is that to achieve better results from the simulation modelling it is important that stakeholders should be involved with modelling process rather than just getting the final results, which helps implanting any decisions or recommendations arising from the model.

Cultural wealth, correlation and intercommunication during educational process are the live and widely examined problems. But musical activity as the method of correction of intercommunication system and its development is still undiscovered area, because it has been mainly examined as the direct way of cultural education of person. Based on the results of research, the system of methods of musical activity was created and the indicators of its significance were highlighted. They compose the theoretic content of research and show its novelty. The object of research is the intercommunication of educated subjects during the fortepiano lessons. Aiming to disclose the correlation of educated subjects, influenced by musical factors during the fortepiano lessons, the hypothesis about functioning of general intercommunication system of educated subjects, if the musical factors stimulate its formation, was raised. Tasks of research: description of conception of intercommunication system during the lesson, analysis of musical factors, influencing the intercommunication of educated subjects, examining of influence of musical factors to correlation system of educated subjects during the fortepiano lessons. Methods of research: Analysis and summation of scientific and methodic literature, written inquiry, evaluation of experience in accordance with the scale of emotional empathy, the pupils’ essays; qualitative and quantitative analysis and summation of the research data.

Constou de um estudo investigativo, qualitativo-quantitativo, com levantamento exploratório sobre a possibilidade ou não de ocorrência de percepção sensorial-motora e alguma percepção paranormal durante o período gestacional. O estudo contou com a participação voluntária de quatro grupos específicos: Grupo Educação de Pais Gestantes da Sociedade Beneficente Espírita Bezerra de Menezes em Porto Alegre; grupo participante através de meu site na Internet; grupo da Creche da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul; e grupo de mulheres gestantes ou que já gestaram, moradoras de vilas populares da periferia de Porto Alegre. Os instrumentos de pesquisa foram: entrevistas individuais; questionários; e um Roteiro de Procedimentos para Pesquisa sobre Intercomunicação Materno-Paterno-Fetal. O aporte teórico se fundamentou na abordagem sistêmica, apoiada na epistemologia genética em uma perspectiva filosófico-científica, antropológica, geopolíticosociocultural, admitindo-se o processo histórico-dialético como fonte geradora da emergência de novos saberes. Apresento o Espiritismo como "SABER EMERGENTE" e "Fonte de SABER", contribuindo para a gênese de uma Filosofia de Educação Espírita, matriz geradora da Pedagogia Espírita e de uma POSSÍVEL Pedagogia de Educação de Pais Gestantes, propiciando a reeducação e preparação de pais gestantes ou candidatos à gestação, para o exercício vivencial da maternidadepaternidade com lucidez, autonomia e participação responsável, para a realização de uma Educação Integral, sem fundamentalismos excludentes. O resultado parcial significativo encorajou-me a sugerir a realização de novos projetos de pesquisa que possam comprovar a Intercomunicação Paranormal Materno-Paterno- Fetal durante o processo de gestação, com as múltiplas implicações para o conhecimento da realidade psicobiofísica e espiritual do ser humano, relacionadas com a complexidade inerente à Educação Integral e suas profundas repercussões no processo dialético, histórico, filosófico-científico, antropológico, geopolíticosociocultural, ético e bioético, em permanente dinamismo cíclico e onto-epistemológicogenético. / The present thesis if supported in a Project of Research in Action, carried through enters the years of 2003 the 2009, objectifying to investigate the possibility of occurrence of a sensorial and paranormal perception, and of maternal-paternal-fetal intercommunication during the gestation. It consisted of an investigative, qualitativequantitative study, with exploratory survey on the possibility or not of occurrence of sensorial-motor perception and some paranormal perception during the gestational period. The study it counted on the voluntary participation of four specific groups: Group Education of Gestates Parents of the Beneficent Society Spirit Bezerra de Menezes in Porto Alegre; participant group through my site in the Internet; group of the Day-care center of the Federal University of the Rio Grande do Sul and group of gestats women or that already they gestural, inhabitants of popular villages of the periphery of Porto Alegre. The research instruments had been: individual interviews; questionnaires; e a Script of Procedures for Research on Maternal-Paternal-Fetal Intercommunication. It arrives in port it theoretical if it based on the systemic boarding, supported in the genetic epistemology in a philosophical-scientific, anthropological, geopolitical-sociocultural perspective, admitting the process description-dialectic as generating source of the emergency of new knowing. I present the Spiritism as "EMERGING KNOW" and "Source of KNOWLEDGE", contributing for genesis of a Philosophy of Spirit Education, generating matrix of the Pedagogic Spirit and a POSSIBLE Pedagogic of Education the Father's Gestants, propitiating the re-education and preparation of gestants parents or candidates to the gestation, for the existential exercise of the maternity-paternity with lucidity, autonomy and responsible participation, for the accomplishment of an Integral Education, without exculpatory fundamentalisms. The results of the research had made to not only evidence me the possibility of occurrence of a sensorial-motor perception, as well as of a paranormal perception of the gestants parents, in special in relation to the mothers, indicating the occurrence of a possible "Intercommunication Paranormal Maternal-Paternal", during the period of gestation. Significant the partial result encouraged to me to suggest the accomplishment to it of new projects of historical, philosophical-scientific, anthropological, geopolitical-sociocultural, ethical and bioethic research that can prove the "Intercommunication Paranormal Maternal-Paternal", during the period of gestation. Consistió en un investigativo, estudio cualitativo-cuantitativo, con encuesta sobre el exploratorio en la posibilidad o no de la ocurrencia de la opinión del sensorio-motor y de una cierta opinión paranormal durante el período del gestacional. El estudio que contó en la participación voluntaria de cuatro grupos específicos: Educación del grupo de los Padres-Gestantes de la Sociedade Espírita Beneficente Bezerra de Menezes en Porto Alegre; grupo del participante através de mi sitio en el Internet; el grupo da Crenche do Centro da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul; grupo de mujeres o de ésa de los gestantes ya ellos gestaran, habitantes de las aldeas populares de la periferia de Porto Alegre. Los instrumentos de la investigación habían sido: entrevistas individuales; cuestionarios; e una escritura de los procedimientos para la investigación sobre la intercomunicación Maternal-Paternal. Llega en puerto él teórico si basó en el embarque del sistémica, apoyado en el epistemología genético en un filosófico-científico, antropológica, geopolítico - perspectiva sociocultural, admitiendo la descripción-dialéctico de proceso como generación de la fuente de la emergencia de nueva saber. Presento el Espiritismo como "SABER EMERGENTE" y la "fuente A SABER", contribuyendo para génesis de una filosofía de la educación de Espirita, generando la matriz del Pedagogía Espirita y de un Pedagogía POSIBLE de Educación de los Padres-Gestantes, propiciando la reeducación y la preparación de los padres o de los candidatos de los gestantes a la gestación, para el ejercicio existencial de la maternidad-paternidad con lucidez, la autonomía y la participación responsable, para la realización de una educación integral, sin fundamentalismos justificativos. Los resultados de la investigación habían hecho no sólo para evidenciarme la posibilidad de la ocurrencia de una opinión del sensorio-motor, así como de una opinión paranormal de los padres de los gestantes, en especial en lo referente a las madres, indicando la ocurrencia Maternal-Paternal paranormal de un "de la intercomunicación posible", durante el período de gestación. Significativo el resultado parcial animó a mí para sugerir la realización a él de nuevos proyectos de histórico, de filosófico-científico, el antropológico, la investigación sociocultural, ética y del bioético del geo-político, que puede probar el Maternal-Paternal paranormal de la intercomunicación durante el proceso de la gestación, con las implicaciones múltiples para el conocimiento de la realidad del psicobiofísica y del espiritual del ser humano, relacionados con la complejidad inherente con la educación integral y sus repercusiones profundas en el proceso del dialéctico, en dinamismo cíclico y sobre-epistemológico-genético permanente.

African-American and Zimbabwean women live and do theology from different cultural and contextual worldviews, although they share the same skin colour. The narrative stories of three Zimbabwean and one African-American Christian women and how they share inter culturally the struggle of identity, identity-formation and survival/liberation while maintaining their cultural uniqueness form die basis of this research project. These shared experiences can offer significant contributions to the broader feminist liberation theology. The Christian faith has served as a shared source of sustenance, resilience, healing and renewal as well as a shared source for constructive and affirming identity-formation for Zimbabwean and African-American women. Consequently, building strong relationships that address contextual issues facing women of Africa and the Diaspora, as suggested by this research, offers significant opportunities for eliminating some of the barriers and boundaries that prevent Zimbabwean and African- American women from enjoying the quality of life that God meant for everyone. / Christian Spirituality, Church History and Missiology / M.Th.
