The author's aim is to describe the history of the Congregation of Jesus, also known as 'English Ladies' (Virgins), in Czechoslovakia, especially on the territory of today's Czech Republic. Emphasis will be placed on the work and life of the congregation in the 20th century. Part of the work will be personal memories of selected sisters reflecting the so-called real socialism.

Firstly, the present thesis, "The Impact of The Society of Jezus on education in The Czech lands", introduces a person of Ignatius of Loyola, who founded the Society of Jezus, and gives a short overview of events including the establishment of the Society and its expansion mainly in Europe. Concerning this the thesis answers a question of some typical features of The Company. The history of the Society in the Czech lands follows. This chapter also includes some notable Czech members of the Society of Jesus. A view of process of education in the Czech lands introduces a second part of the thesis. In the second part of the thesis there is reflected education though time. There is pointed out the influence of the Society not only on process of school education, but also on process of education in general. However, it is difficult to see all of these in complexity of contemporary education. Moreover, it is not the point of the thesis to cover this complexity of problems of education, so the emphasis is put on some main periods and forms of Jesuits' activities. Considering all of this, of course it is possible to find some disadvantages of their impact on society, but anyway, in this case positive aspects are more noteworthy.

The starting point of this study is understanding religion as a mediatized and contested social phenomenon. The study aims to analyze how the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints (LDS Church or the Mormons) is perceived by the Finnish people in the documentary film The Mission – Lähetyssaarnaajat (2022). Furthermore, the study intends to explain how and why certain types of religion can come to be seen and framed as problematic, respectively acceptable, in contemporary Finnish society. The methods that are employed to answer the research questions are qualitative content analysis and frame analysis. While the mediatization of religion is used as a theoretical backdrop in the study, the results are analyzed further with Hjelm’s (2014) idea of religion as a problem or utility, the concept of culturalized religion (Astor & Mayrl, 2020) and prior research. The final results of the study indicate that the LDS Church continues to be framed and perceived as an alien and potentially problematic denomination in Finland. That is due to the considered heretic and anti-scientific character of Mormon thought and the perception of the LDS Church as a restrictive denomination. The acceptable Finnish religion in the material is based, instead, on a cultural form of Lutheranism that prioritizes scientific reasoning and emphasizes individual well-being.

Neste sentido, vamos esbo?ar um dos poss?veis caminhos para uma reflex?o de como se deu a organiza??o deste espa?o missional e os movimentos que determinaram sua efemeridade (1743 a 1769), evidenciando, sobretudo, que este processo n?o foi apenas a??o dos colonizadores, mas sim, da a??o de v?rios grupos ind?genas que colaboram de igual maneira na produ??o deste espa?o. A partir do contato inter?tnico, surgiram alian?as e conflitos entre ind?genas/ind?genas e entre ind?genas/europeus, que possibilitaram o estabelecimento da sociedade europeia em seus territ?rios, a implanta??o do sistema de encomiendas em Assun??o e Santa Cruz de la Sierra e, finalmente, a funda??o das miss?es jesu?ticas entre os ind?genas da Chiquitania. O recorte temporal inicia em meados do s?culo XVI, quando os conquistadores europeus entram na regi?o do Pantanal e da Chiquitania na tentativa de alcan?ar as riquezas minerais do Peru e de Potosi na Bol?via. Nesse contexto, ocorrem v?rios epis?dios de intensos conflitos entre ind?genas e espanh?is encomenderos at? que, a partir de 1609, os mission?rios jesu?tas aparecem como uma possibilidade de salva??o dos ind?genas e de inser??o em um novo contexto colonial por meio das redu??es religiosas, primeiro, junto aos Guarani, nas margens do rio Paranapanema (no atual estado do Paran?) e, posteriormente, em 1691, na Chiquitania, junto aos ind?genas conhecidos como Chiquito. Assim, surgem conflitos e alian?as entre os europeus que almejavam conquistar riquezas e territ?rios para a Coroa espanhola, ocorre o genoc?dio e a explora??o de muitos ind?genas, a migra??o de ind?genas para regi?es mais seguras, como a das pr?prias Miss?es de Chiquitos e a miscigena??o de grupos ind?genas com culturas e l?nguas distintas. Para a interpreta??o dos epis?dios gerados pelo contato inter?tnico entre ind?genas e europeus, a an?lise de discurso foi utilizada na compreens?o de como a sociedade europeia construiu a imagem do ind?gena como um ser sem f?, sem lei e sem Rei.
