Studie operativního řízení výroby ve vybrané firmě / The Study of Operational Production Management in Selected FirmPolívka, Pavel January 2012 (has links)
This thesis deals with operative production management in a chosen company. In the theoretical part of the study are explained the terms of production, production management, operative production management and production planning. This is followed by a brief description and characteristics of a chosen entrepreneurial subject that deals with production of automatic door systems for rail vehicles. The next part of the thesis is aimed at evaluation of operative production management of door leaves current condition with focus on manufacturing programme, production system and production process organisation. Because of the most severe lack of current condition there is an up-to-date analysis in the field of production planning and material flow in time. Based on this analysis there is a sketch of three theoretical approaches to solutions. In the final part of the thesis a brief evaluation of assets and conditions of solutions realization is carried out and there is a recommendation for production management of the company.

How can Just War Theory help us assess a notion of legitimacy applied to the actions of non-state actors in conflict situations?Mbuya, Nkulu Joelle 25 August 2015 (has links)
Department of International Relations
School of Social Sciences / The formulation of International Law has been greatly driven by Western principles. These principles have been applied to the world at large as a result of the continuing hegemony of the global north. Consequently, what is deemed to be just and unjust, legitimate and illegitimate in international relations is dictated by these set standards that have been reified throughout history. Sovereign states, as realist theorist tend to emphasize, are at the core of international relations. One of the basic premises of Realism is that the absence of central authority in the international system is bound to lead to conflict. Various international relations theorists have contributed to this literature in their attempts to unpack causes, solutions and justifications for war. The United Nations Charter provides perhaps the most concrete guidelines and codifications of proper state conduct in the pursuit of peace and order and the resolution of conflicts. However, with the progression of history, the nature of conflict in international relations has experienced various changes. One of these changes worth analysing is the shift away from states as single most important actors in a conflict-prone international context. As a matter of fact, the recent history of international relations has been marked by the rise of non-state actors. This research paper seeks to investigate this shift by revisiting Just War Theory against non-state actors in conflict in Africa using the cases of the Mai Mai Bakata Katanga in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Pirates in Somlia’s Gulf of Aden.

On The Side of the Forest Owner: : A Discourse Analysis of the Swedish Reception of the EU ForestStrategy for 2030Olofsson, Emil January 2023 (has links)
The new EU Forest Strategy for 2030, one of the flagship initiatives of the European Green Deal, has put EU forest policy in a new expansionary phase with ambitious goals for future forest management in Member States. This thesis analyzes contestation over the EU Forest Strategy for 2030 in Sweden to understand how discursive representations of forests are interlinked with justice perceptions. By utilizing poststructuralist discourse theory and the logics framework, and analyzing EU forest policy documents, Swedish parliamentary debates, and interviews with Swedish forest stakeholders, this thesis shows how sustainable forest management functions as a floating signifier and how different discursive understandings of this concept leads to different understandings of justice in forest management and thus how a just transition in forestry should look like. In the Swedish reception of the new Strategy, a commodity discourse and a conservation discourse could be identified where both highlighted the importance of the private forest owner in relation to justice perceptions in Sweden. The results show how the discourses attempt to invest the role of private forest owners with different meanings. Thus, this thesis contributes to the literature on just transitions by showing how justice perceptions are discursively interlinked with understandings of the role of forests, and how political contestation over this takes place.

En effektivare byggprocess : med fokus på materialhantering / A more efficient construction process : focusing on material handlingHjelmäng, Zacarias, Larsson, Alexander, Rosengren, Hugo January 2022 (has links)
In the construction industry, there is great potential for efficiency and digitalisation. The logistics of the supply of materials for construction projects have for a long time been neglected. Since companies begin to take more interest in how logistics impact their earnings, there is much to explore in the subject. The purpose of the work is to streamline the process by identifying non-value-creating activities in order to achieve a more cost-effective and less comprehensive process, which will ultimately benefit the entire process from manufacturers until the material is in the right place on the construction site. In order to fulfill the purpose of the study, secondary data has been collected through scientific reports and course literature with the aim of creating a broader spectrum of knowledge on the subject. Qualitative interviews have taken place in order to create, together with the obtained theory of the subject, an overall picture covering the area in practice and theory. The study has identified where in the supply chain non-value-creating activities exist and thus can be eliminated. With this claim, a logistics solution has been developed to get building materials from manufacturers to the workplace as efficiently as possible, to minimize the contribution of waste. The results show that based on the theoretical frame of reference, waste can be identified. What contributes to waste from the very beginning is considered poor planning of logistics. This, in turn, rubs off all the way into construction production, causing projects to not reach their full economic potential. With a logistics center that works with Lean thinking, standardization, JIT, 5S and its supply chain, it can contribute with efficiency in construction production and reduce waste. This can be achieved through agreements before the project starts and a well-established relationship between the actors.

Autonomins baksida : En kvantitativ studie om blivande officerares syn på hur graden av autonomi påverkar den etiska försvarbarheten i en attackAxelsson, Marcus January 2023 (has links)
The development and application of artificial intelligence (AI) for military purposes are increasing rapidly in many parts of the world. Military powers are driving programs aimed at the advantages that AI can generate. Simultaneously, ethical questions arise concerning autonomous military systems. This study aims to provide clarity on how future Swedish officers with different backgrounds within the profession relate to the ethical issues that accompany the use of autonomous weapon systems. In this study, the respondents are presented with two fictitious scenarios based on the principles of distinction and proportionality, describing ethically problematic attacks that affect civilians. In each scenario, respondents are asked to take a stance on attacks carried out with different degrees of autonomy. The results of the study show that future officers consider the ethical defensibility of an attack to decrease as the degree of autonomy in the weapon system used increases.

The responsibility to rebuild in international law: a panacea for responsibility to protect?Babajide, Love Stephen 20 August 2021 (has links)
This thesis considers the issue of the Responsibility to Rebuild in International Law. It posits that the R2R must be re-elevated to significance as a conceptual, normative, and functional element of Responsibility to Protect (R2P), with its institutional homes in the United Nation’s framework and the Secretary-General’s function adequately articulated. In most instances, the 2009 three-pillar R2P framework functions effectively, but it has the flaw of burying and overlooking the critical value of the initial ICISS third pillar, the responsibility to rebuild and reconstruct war-ravaged communities’ threshold of viability and self-sufficiency. This thesis draws some crucial insight from the significant international interventions of the twenty-first century and recalling the scope in which R2P was first conceived to illustrate the unique characteristics of its contribution to global politics or international policy. This thesis addresses the question of who should rebuild after a war. The ‘Belligerents Rebuild Thesis,’ which suggests that those who have been engaged in the battle - including the victor, just belligerent, unjust aggressor, or humanitarian intervener - should be charged with the responsibility of rebuilding, is held by many leading proponents of the importance of jus post-Bellum for Just War Theory. On the other hand, this thesis argues that there is a mutual, international responsibility to rebuild that should be delegated solely based on the agent's capacity to rebuild rather than the belligerents. / Graduate / 2022-08-09

"Untune the Sky": Ten Original Pieces for Microtonal Viola da Gamba with Voice and ElectronicsSnead, Jonathan Dunnam 08 1900 (has links)
Untune the Sky is a collection of ten original preludes, dances, and songs for microtonal viola da gamba in 7-limit just intonation with voice and live electronics that incorporates elements of Baroque music, traditional Irish dance music, extended just intonation tuning theory, and live electronic audio processing techniques. This thesis thoroughly describes the work and contextualizes its relationship to its historical and contemporary influences. The first sections explain why extended just intonation and viola da gamba were chosen as the central elements of the work. This is followed by a description of the structure, instrumentation, notational conventions, and intended performance practice of the work. The final section contains a musical analysis of the form, harmony, and structure of each piece in the collection. For researchers and interested performers, Appendix A contains a brief catalog of existing microtonal viol repertoire listed with a description of the microtonal techniques used.
