À sombra da vida nua: uma leitura biopolítica da infância

Bentes, Jackson Luiz Nunes 01 September 2014 (has links)

No. of bitstreams: 1 Jackson Luiz Nunes Bentes.pdf: 7635456 bytes, checksum: 918bda18e6c79858e18418a6a516faf2 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2014-09-01 / Fundo Mackenzie de Pesquisa / The thesis of this research follows two parallel lines: the first affirms that the history of infancy constructs the identity of infancy, in other words, infancy is not understood as a chronological issue but rather becomes a question of language. In the second line of research, the the shadow of infancy comes into play. Here we have in mind what Walter Benjamin, the major influence on this work, coined as the concept of bare life, which paved the way to think about childhood as lived in the shadow of bio-politics, of which Kaspar Hauser is an emblematic example. This research has been conducted by sifting through the intricacies of history, the condition named infancy, and the being named child. The central problem is how to think of the life of the being named child insofar as this life is determined by power. Reflecting on the child and on infancy from philosophy to the language of the cinema, we find the film, The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser. He is an emblematic personage of what Benjamin termed bare life, which later Michel Foucault called bio-politics. Along with the analysis of this film, the intention of the present thesis is to recover a reflection on infancy which can take into account, and at the same time move beyond, the cultural production and naturalization of childhood. What is infancy? This question serves as the common thread tying together the parallel lines of research referring to the problem of naturalization. Thus, it is language which seems to permit the thinking about the child and infancy and their submission to power, moving beyond the illusions of nature. / A tese desta investigação segue duas linhas paralelas.

Application of Genome Reduction, Next Generation Sequencing, and KASPar Genotyping in Development, Characterization, and Linkage Mapping of Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms in the Grain Amaranths and Quinoa

Smith, Scott Matthew 13 March 2013 (has links) (PDF)
The grain amaranths (Amaranthus sp.) and quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Willd.) are important seed crops in South America. These crops have gained international attention in recent years for their nutritional quality and tolerance to abiotic stress. We report the identification and development of functional single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) assays for both amaranth and quinoa. SNPs were identified using a genome reduction protocol and next generation sequencing. SNP assays are based on KASPar genotyping chemistry and were detected using the Fluidigm dynamic array platform. A diversity screen consisting of 41 amaranth accessions showed that the minor allele frequency (MAF) of the amaranth markers ranged from 0.05 to 0.5 with an average MAF of 0.27. A diversity screen of 113 quinoa accessions showed that the MAF of the quinoa markers ranged from 0.02 to 0.5 with an average MAF of 0.28. Linkage mapping in amaranth produced a linkage map consisting of 16 linkage groups, presumably corresponding to each of the 16 amaranth haploid chromosomes. This map spans 1288 cM with an average marker density of 3.1 cM per marker. Linkage mapping in quinoa resulted in a linkage map consisting of 29 linkage groups with 20 large linkage groups, spanning 1,404 cM with a marker density of 3.1 cM per SNP marker. The SNPs identified here represent important genomic tools needed for genetic dissection of agronomically important characteristics and advanced genetic analysis of agronomic traits in amaranth and quinoa. We also describe in detail the scalable and cost effective SNP genotyping method used in this research. This method is based on KBioscience's competitive allele specific PCR amplification of target sequences and endpoint fluorescence genotyping (KASPar) using a FRET capable plate reader or Fluidigm's dynamic array high throughput platform.

MUSIKALISCHER PARNASSUS by Johann Kaspar Ferdinand Fischer (1656-1746): Guitar Transcription and Performance Guide of Suites VI and VIII

January 2013 (has links)
abstract: Guitar repertoire from the Baroque period consists primarily of transcriptions, which suggests that modern performers may explore more sources to identify eligible works to transcribe. The Musikalischer Parnassus, a collection of dance suites for harpsichord by Johann Kaspar Ferdinand Fischer (1656-1746), is worthy of such a transcription. This collection has high artistic value and possesses a range and texture that make much of it playable on the guitar. The purpose of this research project is to introduce Fischer and his works to the classical guitar community, and also to explore the artistic qualities of Musikalischer Parnassus that qualify it for transcription for guitar. This document addresses the transcription process of two selected suites: VI, Euterpe and VIII, Polymnia by Fischer. The outcome is an edition for guitar and a performance guide, which includes interpretations and stylistic considerations for each movement. / Dissertation/Thesis / it is the appendix for the dissertation / D.M.A. Music 2013

Enfant sauvage: entre l’ange et la bête : de nouveaux récits d’enfance au 18e siècle.

Fairweather, Erin Phyllis 31 August 2012 (has links)
This thesis examines the depiction of the feral child through the literary study of 18th and 19th century French texts. This body of research isn’t meant to establish historical facts, or to construct a global history of childhood, but rather it’s a work on the representation of humanity, on the issues surrounding the conceptualizations of childhood and animality that emerged parallel to changes in theological and philosophical ideas or mentalities. Reflecting upon the cases of Marie-Angélique le Blanc, Victor de l’Aveyron, and Kaspar Hauser, and supporting narratives as well as on related anthologies of edifying anecdotes of wise, virtuous, obedient children, this study shows patterns of imagery and themes that confirm that the ways of viewing the child in literature and society is linked to path of thought regarding questions of humanity; stories filled with spiritual connotations fade as faith in science moves to the forefront of inquiry. / Graduate

Ne-lidští vypravěči v literární fikci / Non-Human Narrators in Literary Fiction

Hocková, Eva January 2018 (has links)
This master thesis deals with the phenomenon of non-human narrator in the literary fiction. The theoretical part of the thesis provides a conceptual framework. The framework is based on the so-called unnatural narratology. Firstly, the thesis discusses non-human narrators that are conventionally accepted. Secondly, the thesis provides a case study of non-human narrators that are perceived as unnatural. The case study includes examples from both canonical works and contemporary works. The research focuses on two main levels related to the usage of the phenomenon of non-human narration as used in the narratives: the level of "meaning" and the level of "form and effect".
