The Waffle Bar is a startup business in El Salvador with the main goal of providing a new and flavorful experience to Salvadorans. The business will offer three different types of waffle desserts, served with different syrups, toppings, and ice cream. At the moment, waffles are not considered a popular dessert among Salvadorans, but as seen in the results from the survey we conducted, the population is willing to try new and different flavors that might satisfy their palate. To start this business’ operation, an initial investment of $16,806.63 is required. This investment comprises the equipment, inventory, kiosk rent, and other items needed for its establishment. An initial capital investment of $5,000 will be provided by the owner’s family, and the rest will be obtained from a bank loan of $11,806.63. According to a moderate level of sales scenario, net income profit can be perceived from the year on 2020.

The diploma thesis is dedicated to modern kiosk-type transformer substations PET, that are used when modernizing distribution network. Since such substations are placed on publicly accessible places it is really important that they are safe for service staff as well as for the public. Apart from the highest characteristic values stress is put upon the safety. Right construction, functionality and safety is verified using the type-tests as stated in ČSN EN 62271-202. In the last part of the thesis there are the methods and procedures of type-testing described.

These are related to products, which haven‘t been integrated to the Multifunctional Information Station so far, but its usage in the future have been estimated.

Examining Self-Service Kiosks in Quick-Service Restaurant Settings

Research is needed that examines the effects of kiosk technology on restaurant operational performance measures, such as total sales. The study employs a 2X2 between-subjects field experimental design to empirically test the hypothesized relationships proposed in the research model. The data collection site was Burger King located in the student union of a large Tier 1 research university in southwest USA. The independent variables included ordering method (kiosk vs. cashier) and operational volume (peak vs. off-peak). The dependent variables were cognitive and affective attitudes, behavioral intention, satisfaction, sales per person, and order time. Consumers at Burger King were approached before they started ordering their meal to ask for voluntary participation. If they agreed to participate, they were randomly assigned into two test groups. Participants in one test group used kiosk technology to order their meals, while those in the other test groups spoke with a cashier to order their meals. The same number of participants were recruited from peak and non-peak volumes. The seconds used to order was observed and recorded after consumer engagement with the ordering method. After participants ordered, they completed a paper survey that measured their behaviors while ordering with each method and asked participants to indicate total purchase amount. Results of 192 surveys indicated to different extents that consumer behaviors were more positive with kiosk technology. Affective attitude results, however, were insignificant. On average, kiosk technology was found to be a faster method of ordering in quick-service restaurants, but it yielded less sales than when the consumer ordered from a cashier.

A review of the development and implementation of a DVD-based kiosk for the Young Women (YW) organization of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The Young Women desired to implement a public kiosk to display several multimedia-based presentations relating to the YW program. This paper describes the development, usability evaluation, and implementation of the kiosk. Recommendations for improvements and further enhancements are included. The project was successfully developed and implemented to the satisfaction of the Young Women General Presidency.

Digital Signage - Infokiosk; Utforma för uppmärksamhet och interaktion

The purpose of this thesis is to investigate how Digital Signage systems such as public info kiosks can be designed to better fulfill its main use; to enlighten, encourage and influence the public with information. The challenges presented from earlier studies shows that the public interests and goals, together with proper and relevant content displayed in info kiosks have impact on the attention the public have towards public displays. Qualitative methods such as interviews, usability testing and observations were conducted to further examine how a public info kiosk can be designed to draw attention and grow interest amongst students at K3, Malmo University. Usability testing were used on the digital prototypes that were developed to ensure that the gestural user interface meet the requirements of a proper interaction from the users. Important insights were made concerning; the attention and interest to relevant content, the aspects of the gestural user interface along with the placement of the info kiosk in terms of context. These key factors need to be properly investigated and developed to ensure a better deployment of a public info kiosk. It is suggested that using the principles of interaction design by doing research and studies of public interest and needs, and optimizing it by taking the specific context of place and time in account when a designing content. The results from this thesis suggests that an installation of a public info kiosk will successfully earn the attention and interest from the public if the content is relevant and interesting to the specific public. It is also important that the systems perform well in terms of software and hardware to allow a fluid and intuitive interaction with the gestural user interface.

One Butterfly : understanding interface and interaction design for multitouch environments in museum contexts

Museums can be perceived as stuffy and forbidding; web technologies can enable museums to expand access to their collections and counterbalance these perceptions. Museums are searching for new ways to communicate with the public to better make a case for their continued relevance in the digital information age. With the emergence of multitouch computing, other diverse forms of digital access and the popularization of the user experience, challenge museum design professionals to synthesize the information seeking experience that occurs on multiple computing platforms. As a means of addressing these issues, this Master’s Report summarizes the One Butterfly design project. The project's goal was to create a design for a multitouch interface for federated search of Smithsonian collections. This report describes the project’s three major phases. First, an idea for an interface was developed and designs based on that idea were captured and clarified. Second, a formal review of related research was undertaken to ground these designs in the museum informatics, user interface design, and multitouch interaction design literatures. Finally, the report concludes with a review and reflection on the designs and their underlying ideas in light of things learned in the previous phases. / text

The model consists of a structure composed of planned blocks and manufactured in cement-based composite, gypsum, ground and water, having the styrofoam inside filled with pet bottles of 500 ml dose. The social and environmental issue is the critical point of the work when it can, through the reuse of environmentally harmful materials such as polyethylene terephthalate PET, using such modules for the construction of various areas of Commerce, promoting the protection of the environment combined with the improvement of the quality of life of the population. The tourism factor, which is significant in the economy of the North, is also considered as the modulated kiosk has a visual aspect innovative and differentiated. Kiosk是以提供公眾使用為目的之多媒體資訊終端機,設置大尺寸觸控螢幕取代鍵盤與滑鼠,搭配整合影像、圖片、文字、音效的多媒體動態介面,連接網際網路,協助使用者接收資訊或進行交易,強調藉由互動式設計自行操作,在行政機關、私人企業的運用相當廣泛。與民眾生活關係密切的便利商店看準此商機,欲與保險業異業結盟,透過Kiosk買賣保險,卻因為主管機關的保守而未果。 相對於此,保險Kiosk在國際蓬勃發展,例如美國國會聚焦隱私權及弱勢團體的保障、德國政府鼓勵異業結盟的多元應用、日本業界發展出金融沙龍,皆值得臺灣借鏡。本研究主張全面開放Kiosk保險服務,藉由保險法規與民法、行政函釋、論文、期刊、官方和非官方報告之分析,探討其類型化以及現行法令、自律規範的適用,嘗試歸納應遵循之監理架構。 參酌臺灣便利超商現況,本文將Kiosk保險服務歸納為繳納保費、文書處理、廣告宣傳、線上交易等四大類型,研究相關法律問題,肯認Kiosk扮演新興保險通路的可行性。援引法令位階規範之精神,推導出保險Kiosk應提出營運計畫書,搭配編碼、人事、資安等內稽內控之機制。進而剖析Kiosk招攬、廣告、核保、理賠流程,重申商品適合度政策和業務員報告撰寫。探討保險電子商務等非法令位階規範,臚列應保護或公開之資訊、周邊設備和委外應遵循事項,強調身分驗證管道、電子化意思表示的處理流程、隱私權保障措施等面向。 為健全保險市場與保障消費者權益,本文認為,應該為Kiosk多媒體資訊終端機提供保險服務,量身訂做法令,搭配主管機關的個案監理審查,作為營運前核准、營運監督之依據。爰擬定保險業多媒體資訊終端機營運管理辦法,奉權責歸屬明確及資訊公開透明為圭臬,要求保險業者遵守、提供消費者參照。
