Bondens åker – naturlandskap eller kulturlandskap? En studie om begreppsförståelse – utförd i årskurs åtta

Käll, Mikael, Henriksen, Tim January 2009 (has links)

The Investigatory work and establishing of maritime cultural reserves : culture, nature and reserves

Magnusson, Anders January 2017 (has links)
Since 1999 it has been possible for Swedish municipalities and the Swedish county administrative board to establish cultural reserves to protect particularly valuable cultural landscape. The protective character of the cultural reserve is supposed to be equivalent to the one found in nature reserves. The separation between the two protective forms have led to a marginalization of the protection of cultural landscape. This thesis has, using Posthumanist theory, studied the investigation process preceding the establishing of three maritime cultural reserves. The thesis also investigates if the general work with cultural landscape could benefit from a Posthumanist approach. To reach the purpose of this thesis, three research questions were formed: how does laws and conventions relate to Posthumanist theory, which values are highlighted in the process of investigating valuable landscapes and how does the practical work with investigating maritime cultural landscape manifest itself? The source material for the thesis consists of a study of documentation, laws and conventions. It also includes an interview study with informants at the Swedish heritage board, The Swedish National Maritime Museums and two persons responsible for the Cultural reserves at the municipality of Haninge and the Swedish county administrative board of Gävleborg. Research shows that the work with managing maritime cultural landscape and preservation would benefit from the use of a Posthumanist approach. The laws and guidelines that exists, based on euro-american definitions of what a valuable landscape is, limits the informants in their work to preserve all aspects of the landscape. Nature and culture are interlaced and cannot be separated. A landscape management system that acknowledge this and allows the public to be a part of the creation of cultural heritage, will lead to a more sustainable preservation. This document is a two years’ master´s thesis in Archive, Library and Museums studies.

How to Create Nature : A case study on the connection between nature and culture in nature conservation projects

Aiff, Fredrik, Axelsson, Eric January 2022 (has links)
Man's impact on nature has created major problems that threaten our own existence as well asall life on earth. This thesis is based on the nature conservation method rewilding, which isabout recreating something that once was. With this essay, we want to draw attention to man'splace in nature and thus give rewilding a broader definition. An interview with the projectmanager for the nature restoration project LIFE - Bridging the Gap has been carried out and amedia analysis of the project's information films. The collected material has been compiled tothen perform a discourse analysis of how natural values are presented in the project. Theidentified discourses are put in a cultural theoretical perspective. The results show thatrewilding is presented as something disconnected from humans, but the definition according toprevious research can still be applied to the project. The oak landscape acquires cultural andhuman values. We found that the re-creation of nature also means the re-creation of culture.Which led to the conclusion that rewilding also means re-creating culture.

I de obesuttnas spår : En arkeologisk analys av de obesuttna i Vena & Målilla socken / In the tracks of the unpropertied : an archaeological analysis of theunpropertied in Vena and Målilla parish.

Kajsa, Rosén-Wiksten January 2021 (has links)
The unpropertied, also known as subaltern people, were a social class that lived during the 18th, 19th, and 20th century in Sweden. They were a social class that hade very few rights and had torely on the closest farmer and his lands to get by. But also, other jobs, for example as a farm maiden or as a shoemaker. In archaeology, remains after the unpropertied are still visible in the cultural landscape they once created. Despite this, the interest and effort in keeping the memory of the unpropertied alive is very little. This is what this essay aims to discuss. This essay will, through a case-study, show how remains after the unpropertied are still visible in the cultural landscape. The casestudy will examine how and where the unpropertied is found in the landscape. The limitation will be at the border between Vena and Målilla parish. It also aims to examine the status of the remains and if the area where the remains are located have been preserved with the intention to focus on the history it holds. The essay also includes multiple historical maps and church archives with the purpose to put a relative date on the objects that has been examined. Later, the author will discuss why the history of the unpropertied is important to preserve and enlighten to the public. This will be discussed with the case-study and other archeological reports from excavations as a foundation, but also other articles regarding the subject in matter.

To Stay or to Leave? : Continuity and Discontinuity in the Cultural Landscape of Uppland during the Transition between the Middle and Late Swedish Iron Age

Jansson, Fredrik January 2020 (has links)
This paper studies continuity and discontinuity in the eastern Mälaren valley during the transition between the middle and late periods of the Swedish Iron Age. Historically this period has been seen as a period of population decline and turbulence but newer research has questioned this premise. In the areas studied in this paper one showed signs of discontinuity whereas the other seemed to have expanded. The discontinuity could possibly be explained with tectonic uplift causing the waterways over time to become non-traversable. Furthermore I could show a potential link between high status settlements and control over important paths for communication over water.
