<p>Free Space Optics (FSO) has received a great deal of attention lately both in the military and civilian information society due to its potentially high capacity, rapid deployment, portability and high security from deception and jamming. The main issue is that severe weather can have a detrimental impact on the performance, which may result in an inadequate availability. </p><p>This report contains a feasibility study for an all-optical free-space link intended for short-range communication (200-500 m). Laboratory tests have been performed to evaluate the link design. Field tests were made to investigate availability and error performance under the influence of different weather conditions. Atmospheric impact due to turbulence related effects have been studied in detail. The most crucial part of the link design turned out to be the receiver optics and several design solutions were investigated. The main advantage of an all-optical design, compared to commercially available electrooptical FSO-systems, is the potentially lower cost.</p>

<p>This thesis deals with the development of a Conceptual Design Tool for unmanned helicopters, so called VTOL UAVs. The goal of the Design Tool is:</p><p>• Quick results</p><p>• Good accuracy</p><p>• Easy to use</p><p>The two first points of the goal are actually more or less dependent on each other. In almost all cases a high accuracy gives a slow calculator and vice versa. In order to fulfill the goal a compromise between calculation accuracy and calculation time needs to be done.</p><p>To make the Design Tool an easy to use program a graphical user interface is used. The graphical user interface allows the user to systematically work his way thru the program from a fictive mission to a complete design of a helicopter. The pre-requirements on the user have been eliminated to a minimum, but for the advanced user the possibilities to create more specific and complex helicopters are good.</p><p>In order to develop a Conceptual Design Tool the entire helicopter needs to be seen as a complete system. To see the helicopter as a system all of the sub parts of a helicopter need to be studied. The sub parts will be compared against each other and some will be higher prioritized than other.</p><p>The outline of this thesis is that it is possible to make a user friendly Conceptual Design Tool for VTOL UAVs. The design procedure in the Design Tool is relatively simple and the time from start to a complete concept is relatively short. It will also be shown that the calculation results have a good agreement with real world flight test data.</p>

Sexual compliance och Självobjektifiering : En studie på gymnasieelever i årskurs tre / Sexual compliance and Self-objectification : A study of students who are in their last year of upper secondary schoolBlom, Ida, Dahlgren, Siri January 2018 (has links)
Studier har visat att det är vanligt att unga vuxna går med på att ha sex, trots att de egentligen inte vill ha sex (s.k. sexual compliance). Inga studier har dock undersökt fenomenet i ensvensk kontext. Föreliggande studie undersökte sexual compliance och självobjektifiering hos gymnasieelever i årskurs tre. Två självobjektifieringsvariabler undersöktes; kroppsiakttagandeoch kroppsskam. En webbenkät distribuerades som innehöll självobjektifieringsskalan OBC-Y och frågor om sexual compliance. Etthundratvå kvinnor och 55 män inkluderades ianalysen. Resultatet visade inga signifikanta skillnader i självobjektifiering mellan män som upplevt sexual compliance och män som inte gjort det. Kvinnor som upplevt sexual compliance hade signifikant högre kroppsiakttagande, jämfört med kvinnor som inte upplevt sexual compliance. Inga signifikanta samband eller skillnader upptäcktes mellan hur individer upplever sig ha påverkats av sexual compliance och självobjektifiering, kön respektive vilken typ av relation sexual compliance utspelat sig i. Deltagarnas vanligaste anledning till sexual compliance var att tillfredsställa sin partners behov, och den vanligaste anledningen till att inte vilja ha sex var att deltagarna inte var på humör för att ha sex. Framtida åtgärder diskuteras. / Studies have shown that a considerate amount of young adults agrees to have sex, despite not actually wanting to have sex (also known as sexual compliance). No previous studies have studied the phenomenon in a Swedish context. The current study examined sexual compliance and self-objectification among students in their final year at Swedish upper secondary school. Two self-objectification-variables were examined: body surveillance and body shame. Onlinesurveys that contained the self-objectification questionnaire OBC-Y and questions concerning sexual compliance were distributed. 102 women and 55 men were included in the analysis. The results showed no significant differences in self-objectification between men who had been sexually compliant and men who had not. Women who had been sexually compliant had a significant higher body-surveillance, compared to women who had not been sexually compliant. No significant correlations or differences were found between how individuals perceive they have been affected by sexual compliance and self-objectification, the participant’s sex or in what kind of relationships sexual compliance had occurred. The participants’ most common reason for sexual compliance was to satisfy their partner’s needs, and the most common reason for not wanting to engage in sex was because the participants were not in the mood for having sex. Future interventions are discussed.

Investigation of CFD conjugate heat transfer simulation methods for engine components at SCANIA CV ABMartinez, Luis Iñaki January 2017 (has links)
The main objective of this Master Thesis project is the development of a new methodology to perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) conjugate heat transfer simulations for internal combustion engines, at the Fluid and Combustion Simulations Department (NMGD) at Scania CV AB, Södertalje, Sweden. This new method allows to overcome the drawbacks identified in the former methodology, providing the ability to use the more advanced polyhedral mesh type to generate good quality grids in complex geometries like water cooling jackets, and integrating all the different components of the engine cylinder in one unique multi-material mesh. In the method developed, these advantages can be used while optimizing the process to perform the simulations, and obtaining improved accuracy in the temperature field of engine components surrounding the water cooling jacket when compared to the experimental data from Scania CV AB tests rigs. The present work exposes the limitations encountered within the former methodology and presents a theoretical background to explain the physics involved, describing the computational tools and procedures to solve these complex fluid and thermal problems in a practical and cost-effective way, by the use of CFD.A mesh sensitivity analysis performed during this study reveals that a mesh with low y+ values, close to 1 in the water cooling jacket, is needed to obtain an accurate temperature distribution along the cylinder head, as well as to accurately identify boiling regions in the coolant domain. Another advantage of the proposed methodology is that it provides new capabilities like the implementation of thermal contact resistance in periodical contact regions of the engine components, improving the accuracy of the results in terms of temperature profiles of parts like valves, seats and guides. The results from this project are satisfactory, providing a reliable new methodology for multi-material thermal simulations, improving the efficiency of the work to be performed in the NMGD department, with a better use of the available engineering and computational resources, simplifying all the stages of multi-material projects, from the geometry preparation and meshing, to the post-processing tasks.

Then revive the model and create a task to illustrate the functionality of the model with a simple ON / OFF third axis, as well as revive the industrial camera. Then create your own design of a full-fledged third axis and let it be realized. Finally, create an illustration application with the full-fledged third axis manipulator.

GhostBuy: An All-Steps Anonymous Purchase Platform (ASAPP) based on Separation of DataWillems, Fabian 19 May 2021 (has links)
In recent years – and especially since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic – online shopping has become a part of everyday life for many people. Yet, in contrast to buying at a traditional retail store, staying anonymous is at least difficult if not impossible when shopping online – in particular, when physical goods are to be delivered. From the customer perspective, reasons for seeking anonymity when shopping online can be manifold, for example some do not want anyone to know about their purchases, others do not want their data to be used by Big Data-enabled online retailers. From the point of view of online retailers, the prospect of anonymous online shopping should therefore not only be seen as a threat to their data-driven business models, but also as an opportunity to attract new customers.
In this thesis we search and find support in the literature regarding the question whether there is indeed a demand for anonymous online shopping, and we discuss system architecture designs that were proposed by other authors for potentially realizing what we call All-Steps Anonymous Purchase Platforms (ASAPP). We propose a new architecture design that improves earlier work by realizing the concept of Separation of Data within a single platform: GhostBuy.
We implement a working prototype of this platform that demonstrates not only the fundamental feasibility of the architecture but also that such a platform can be realized with a look-and-feel similar to that of common online shops. We also propose solutions for certain related aspects that are particularly important in the context of such a platform, as for example a guaranteed use of secure user passwords or application-level database encryption.
We evaluate to what extent the proposed architecture and prototype preserve the customers’ anonymity/privacy, showing that the prototype provides it to the maximum possible extent that can be achieved based on the proposed architecture. We also show that the system provides 256-bit security against all but one considered cryptographic and mis-authentication attack vectors and discuss how this can also be achieved for the remaining attack vector. Closing our evaluation, we show how well the platform could presumably be deployed in the real world. Finally, limitations, possible improvements, and potential further future work are discussed and proposed.

This thesis explored the possibilities of incorporating automation and optimization inthe design process of cantilever retaining walls. The programming language Pythonhas been used to develop a program that given certain inputs performs the necessarydesign verifications according to Eurocodes and Swedish standards. The GeneticAlgorithm (GA) was chosen as optimization algorithm, where the objectives of theoptimization were defined as minimization of investment cost (IC) and environmentalimpact (EI).Optimized solutions from the program were compared with a previously designedretaining wall in a case study. Savings ranging between 15% and 30% could beobtained depending on the restrictions that were imposed on the optimization. Resultsalso indicate that the optimization algorithm tends to output retaining walls withhigher reinforcement content when optimizing for EI, leading to thinner structuralmembers in comparison to optimizations with respect to IC. A parametric analysis wasfurthermore performed to study the influence of varying heights and concrete classeson the optimized solutions.

Debugging is an essential part of programming. No debugger is good at debugging optimized Rust code, which is a problem because unoptimized Rust code is slow compared to optimized. The ability to debug optimized code is important for embedded systems because of the close relation to hardware. Therefore, a tool like a debugger is handy because it enables the developer to see what is happening in the hardware when debugging embedded systems.This thesis presents a debugger named ERDB and a debugging library named rust-debug. The goal of the library is to make it easier to create debugging tools by simplifying the process of retrieving debug information from the DWARF format. The goal of ERDB is to improve debugging for optimized Rust code.This thesis will explain the design and implementation of ERDB and rust-debug, and it will also explain how the debug information format DWARF works.ERDB will be compared to other debuggers to see if it has achieved its goal. The result highlight that the problem is in the compiler not generating the needed debug information.

In the past few years a technological revolution has been in process with the growth of digitalized markets. This has resulted in a shift of analog business becoming digitalized. Digitization is a structural change for industries and the Swedish economy is affected by it. This put a demand on many industries to adapt digitalized techniques, in order to stay competitive and survive this technical shift. Adapting to a technical revolution puts pressure on the business strategies and requires companies to model new ones. With the digitization, new requirements have arisen for companies to create new business models, value chains and ways of organizing activities, in order to manage the business strategies. Digitization has been seen to change innovation processes and some experts believe it will change whole markets. The accounting industry is one of the industries that has been seen to have a growth in digitalization and is expected to grow even more. The accounting industry is like many other industries are experiencing the need for a change due to digital technologies. Therefore, this study aims to investigate how digital accounting businesses could set up a general business model, in order to be a successfully digitalized business. This has been conducted through a multiple case study, with the aim to provide generalized findings of business model elements and barriers/facilitators for digitalization affecting the business model. The multiple case studies has been conducted through interviews with different accounting companies, that market themselves as digitalized actors. The findings of the research indicate that digitalization had a direct affect on how companies should strategically organize a business. Many of the implications on digitalized accounting will have direct impact on strategies, actions and processes. The digitalization will require company cultures, which are digitalization friendly. Some of the found results are: digitization will give accounting companies digital accounting tools, knowledge sharing and communication channels. It will put pressure on employees for having different knowledge than analogue businesses and more expertise skills. Digitalization it is estimated to affect the offerings provided to customers. The digitalization is also most likely to have key partners, targeted customer segment, cost structure and revenue streams specific for being digitalized. Digitalization of the accounting industry is likely to change the market from being a supplier driven to becoming demand driven and new actors with less accounting knowledge could get a opening for entering the market. And there are many barriers and a few facilitators for being a digitalized accounting business. This has been taken in consideration when mapping a general business model for a digital accounting firm in this report.
