This research tries to analyze the identity and memorie constructions of Michael Traumann and his family, through the Traumann’s Library, and to observe the cultural practice and world visions that it shows. These questions will be problematized from his social and historical place, in which he has developed his family context. Through his microcosm, we will be observe his effort and his try to (re)build, in his volunteer exile, a German, European and Brazilian culture. Therefore, we will consider as acculturated/acculturatingand as a memory place. Next, will be questioned Michael Traumann’s positions as a keeper of a culture that was afraid of a decadency and of a family memory turned to the culture elitism.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Disserta??oCarolinaPurifica??o.pdf: 694082 bytes, checksum: fa7324aabcff3909f23e711aa3e73dea (MD5) Previous issue date: 2013-08-23 / This paper has for object analyze the experience of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1937) through the writings of English George Orwell, seeking to understand, in their comprehension about the event, the gaze that their condition of foreigner printed to the conflict and the modifications that the reality of the front has made in the vision that he had about his own country, England. For this reason, this study aimed to examine their previous experiences the War with the objective of characterizing their worldview forged in accord with their identity; and consider its performance writing after the confrontation in an attempt to grasp the depth of the modification effected by experience during his stay in Spain, understanding it within a context of dispute of memories.

Characterization and modeling of phase-change memories / Characterization and modeling of Phase-Change Memories

Betti Beneventi, Giovanni 14 October 2011 (has links)
Within this Ph.D. thesis work new topics in the field of Non-Volatile Memories technologies have been investigated, with special emphasis on the study of novel materials to be integrated in Phase-Change Memory (PCM) devices, namely:(a) Investigation of new phase-change materialsWe have fabricated PCM devices integrating a novel chalcogenide material: Carbon-doped GeTe (or simply, GeTeC). We have shown that C doping leads to very good data retention performances: PCM cells integrating GeTeC10% can guarantee a 10 years fail temperature of about 127°C, compared to the 85°C of GST. Furthermore, C doping reduces also fail time dispersion. Then our analysis has pointed out the reduction of both RESET current and power for increasing carbon content. In particular, GeTeC10% PCM devices yield about a 30% of RESET current reduction in comparison to GST and GeTe ones, corresponding to about 50% of RESET energy decrease. Then, resistance window and programming time of GeTeC devices are comparable to those of GST.(b) Advanced electrical characterization techniquesWe have implemented, characterized and modeled a measurement setup for low-frequency noise characterization on two-terminal semiconductor devices.(c) Modeling for comprehension of physical phenomenaWe have studied the impact of Self-induced Joule-Heating (SJH) effect on the I-V characteristics of fcc polycrystalline-GST-based PCM cells in the memory readout region. The investigation has been carried out by means of electrical characterization and electro-thermal simulations.
