Sairaanhoitajien opiskelijaohjausosaaminen ja ohjaajakoulutuksen vaikutus osaamiseenTuomikoski, A.-M. (Anna-Maria) 27 August 2019 (has links)
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to describe and explain nurse mentors’ competence in mentoring nursing students and to evaluate the effects of an educational intervention on nurse mentors’ competence in mentoring. The purpose was to also evaluate the reliability of an instrument measuring competence in mentoring nursing students. The study aimed to develop new knowledge on nurse mentors’ competence that can be used to improve mentoring education.
This study included four phases. In the first phase, nurse mentors’ experiences of mentoring nursing students were described using a systematic review. Data were collected from seven electronic databases and were selected by titles, abstracts and full-texts. The quality of the included studies (n=21) was evaluated and the Joanna Briggs Institute Qualitative Assessment and Review Instrument (JBI-QARI) extraction tool was used to extract and synthesize the studies. In the second phase, the psychometric properties of Mentor Competence Instrument (MCI) were tested. Data were collected from mentors (n=3355) at five university hospitals in Finland using an electronic version of the MCI. The construct validity and reliability of the instrument were tested using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and Cronbach’s alpha. In the third phase, mentors’ level of competence in mentoring and distinct mentor profiles were identified using a cross-sectional study. The same data were used as in the second phase of this study and analyzed using multivariate statistical methods. In the fourth phase, the effect of mentoring education on nurse mentors’ competence in mentoring nursing students was evaluated using a quasi-experimental study. Data were collected from nurses (n=150) using the MCI instrument before and after mentoring education. Data were analyzed using statistical methods.
According to the systematic review, nurse mentors' competence in mentoring nursing students contained eight competence areas. The MCI instrument exhibited acceptable psychometric properties. Nurse mentors evaluated their level of competence in various categories from satisfactory to good. Three distinct profiles of mentor competence were identified from skilled developer, competent adapter and beginner. Mentoring education had an effect on mentoring competence.
Toisessa vaiheessa arvioitiin opiskelijaohjausosaamista arvioivan mittarin luotettavuutta. Aineisto kerättiin poikkileikkaustutkimuksena Suomen viidessä yliopistollisessa sairaalassa työskenteleviltä sairaanhoitajilta (n=3355) sähköisesti opiskelijaohjausosaamisen mittarilla. Mittarin rakennevaliditeettia arvioitiin eksploratiivisella faktorianalyysillä ja sisäistä johdonmukaisuutta Cronbachin Alfa -kertoimella. Kolmannessa vaiheessa kuvattiin sairaanhoitajien opiskelijaohjausosaamisen tasoa ja selitettiin profiileita poikkileikkaustutkimuksella. Aineisto oli sama kuin tutkimuksen toisessa vaiheessa. Aineisto analysoitiin tilastollisilla monimuuttujamenetelmillä. Neljännessä vaiheessa arvioitiin ohjaajakoulutuksen vaikutuksia sairaanhoitajien opiskelijaohjausosaamiseen kvasikokeellisella tutkimusasetelmalla. Aineisto kerättiin sairaanhoitajilta (n=150) Opiskelijaohjausosaaminen -mittarilla ennen ja jälkeen koulutuksen. Aineisto analysoitiin tilastollisin menetelmin.
Järjestelmällisen katsauksen mukaan sairaanhoitajien opiskelijaohjausosaaminen muodostui seitsemästä osaamisen alueesta. Opiskelijaohjausosaamisen mittarin psykometriset ominaisuudet todettiin hyviksi. Sairaanhoitajat arvioivat opiskelijaohjausosaamisen tason tyydyttäväksi tai hyväksi. Sairaanhoitajat profiloituivat ohjausosaamisensa osalta taitavaan kehittäjään, osaavaan soveltajaan ja aloittelijaan. Ohjaajakoulutus edisti ohjausosaamista.

Začínající učitel / Teacher the beginnerLukášová, Jana January 2012 (has links)
My Diploma Thesis "Newly qualified teachers" is devoted to new teachers with less than 3 years of teaching experience after they graduated from accredited college and received a degree as a teacher. My focus is on the teachers in elementary schools. The goal of the theoretical part of my thesis is to collect technical information, opinions, ideas and knowledge from experts in the teaching profession in general, to characterize the new teacher's personality. In the few chapters I ponder possible fears, concerns, weaknesses and needs of the new teachers, and I also mention problematic field of the evaluation and self assessment of a new teacher. The content of the practical part of my thesis is exploratory inquiry using a method of survey. The goal of the questions and answers is to find out if the orientation of new teachers in elementary schools is functioning well with prepared orientation plan, and to identify and map out the problem areas that the new, inexperienced teachers feel in the beginning of their teaching carrier, and subsequently to detect and identify the new teachers' needs. I set preconditions for which I had the knowledge base from studying professional literature and from my many years of experience as an elementary school teacher. The topics of preconditions are: preparation for...

The Link Between the Career Plateau and Mentoring – Addressing the Empirical GapLentz, Elizabeth 06 April 2004 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to empirically investigate the relationship between career plateauing and mentoring. First, the relationship between career plateauing and work-related attitudes was investigated. Next, the relationship between mentoring experience and work-related attitudes was examined. Finally, both experience as a mentor and mentoring provided were examined as moderators between career plateauing and work-related attitudes. Three hundred and six government employees located in the southeastern United States completed surveys (50.08% response rate). Of those, 110 reported mentor experience and 196 reported no mentor experience. In general, results provided support for the relationship between job content and hierarchical plateauing and negative work-related attitudes. No support was found for the relationship between job tenure and work-related attitudes. Support was found for the relationship between mentoring experience and positive work-related attitudes. With the exception of contextual performance, the relationship between mentoring provided and work-related attitudes was not supported. Little support was found for the interaction between mentor experience and plateauing, suggesting that mentoring others may not alleviate the negative effects of career plateauing. Implications and suggestions for future research are discussed.

Mentorskap in die maatskaplike funksionering van die seun in sy laat-middelkinderjare / J.P.DP SteytlerSteytler, Johannes Petrus Du Plessis January 2007 (has links)
The boy in his late middle childhood faces enormous changes — physically, socially and
mentally. World-wide, people experience challenges - politically and economically as well as regarding social structures such as families. Children are not excluded from these challenges. Family structures change over time and fathers are increasingly becoming absent in the lives of their children. This Master's dissertation provides information concerning three major aspects regarding the boy. The first, as described in Article 1, is
the effect of the absent father on the boy in his late middle childhood and that of the alternative father figure, the mentor. The second major aspect, as described in Article 2, is the influence of family ordinance on the boy in his transition phase from middle childhood into adolescence, his experience of the biological father and his expectancies regarding a mentor relationship
The third major aspect is the adolescent boy's experience of his biological father, the influence of an alternative father figure, namely the mentor, and the affect of the mentor relationship. / Thesis (M.A. (MW))--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2008.

What protégés and mentors report helped or hindered the outcomes of mentoring relationships: an adapted critical incident technique studyBuydens, Sarah Louise 04 January 2017 (has links)
How to best conduct a mentoring relationship has been confounded by the lack of a consistent definition of “mentoring” and the scarcity of studies addressing how to achieve a positive outcome. This study contributes new, operationalized definitions of “mentoring,” “mentor,” and “protégé,” and a modified version of the Critical Incident Technique and the Enhanced Critical Incident Technique, called the Adapted Critical Incident Technique (ACIT), which is more consistent with a qualitative methodology. The researcher interviewed 18 self-described mentors and protégés to obtain 207 quotes about what critical behaviours helped or hindered mentoring relationship outcomes. Independent judges confirmed the placement of quotes into 13 categories of behaviours that helped mentors and protégés to reach the mentoring goals and 10 categories of behaviours that hindered the mentoring outcome. The findings contribute to an increased understanding of the foundation upon which mentors and protégés in all fields may potentially build better programs and training under the guise of mentorship. / Graduate / 2018-12-01
