Energieffektivisering i flerbostadshus : Undersökning av lönsamheten med energieffektivare ventilationJonsson, Reine January 2009 (has links)

This thesis is based on a case study for the real estate manager Mimer in Västerås. Mimer provides a great deal of this city’s rental apartments. Many of their buildings have ventilation systems with a type of heat-recovery called “heatpipe”. This case study focuses on two buildings which have certain problems with these heatpipes. The recovery rates of the existing systems are low, and one building suffers from a warm indoor climate in the summertime. Problems with the indoor climate seem to stem from a faulty installation of the heatpipe. This building does also have considerably higher energy consumption than the other one, which leads suspicions to overloaded fan motors.

The main purpose of this study is to retrieve information about the present situation energy- and ecomonywise. A new type of heat recovery and new fans has been chosen by Mimer in order to calculate expected new energy consumption for these buildings. These values will lead to a few LCC calculations which show life cycle costs for the existing systems and the new systems. Based on the LCC calculations one or more options will be chosen as a recommended action for the ventilation systems. The recommendations will be analysed and discussed from different point of views that are relevant for a real estate manager.

Fornnordisk mytologi i dataspel : En kvalitativ innehållsanalys av God of War’s gestaltning av fornnordisk mytologiJonasson, Philip January 2020 (has links)
This thesis analyses how norse mythology is being used in modern videogames. This is done via a qualitative content analysis using grounded theory of the game God of War from 2018 by Santa Monica Studios, and comparing the games contents with literature regarding Norse mythology, the Prose Edda and the Poetic Edda, as well as studies done on similar games in fields closely related to the subject. The subjects that get compared in this thesis are the gods: Freyja, Mimir and Baldur, the places: Niflheim and Muspelheim, the events: Fimbulvinter and Ragnarök, and studies done on other games usage of norse mythology and -society, ehere the other games in question are: Jotun by Thunder Lotus Games, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice by Ninja Theory, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim by Bethesda Game Studios. The Thesis aims to identify the changes between the games representation of Norse mythology and the mythology itself, how the changes have been shaped by our contemporary society, how these changes can be explained, and finally if similar phenomenon can be observed in other games based on or using Norse mythology as inspiration. Some of these changes are for example how the Fimbulvinter and Ragnarök starts with Baldur’s death, the climate of places such as Niflheim and Muspelheim, the heavy usage of strong female characters, and the origins of certain gods, like Mimir for example. Hopefully, this thesis can be used as a basis and inspiration for thesis and studies done in this or closely related subjects in future studies. The rest of the thesis is written in Swedish.

Production optimization using Discrete Event Simulation : Case study of Volvo Penta engine production lineRamos Calderón, Antonio José January 2022 (has links)
Simulation allows decision-makers in modern industries analyse the outputs of specific systems, and predict future ones based on certain decision variables when in combination with optimization and Lean. This project studies the production line of boat engines in Volvo Penta at Vara (Sweden), carrying out different experiments based on a verified and validated model of the real production system using FACTS Analyzer in order to improve the key performance indicators whilst comparing the optimization performance of four genetic algorithms (NSGA-II, NSGA-III, PSO and DE) and extracting knowledge using data mining. Following the experimental design methodology, four main conclusions are obtained regarding the production line: simulation can be a successful tool to detect bottlenecks, optimization based on the resources such as the number of operators; forklifts and buffers can improve the outputs of the current system 22% just by rearranging the assets around the bottleneck and also helps predicts the behaviour of the system when these available resources are increased or decreased, when optimizing as they do not have the same performance it is important to cross-check the results of different algorithms to ensure the validity of the results, and lastly knowledge extraction can help decision[1]makers by providing sets of rules that selected solution areas of the optimization follow.
