Sistema de apoio a reablilitação neuromotora: modelo de acompanhamento remoto para a terapia do espelho / Support system for neuromotor rehabilitation: remote monitoring model for mirror therapy

Rodolfo Dias Correia 23 September 2015 (has links)
The mirror therapy technique used in the treatment of patients in neurological rehabilitation has shown good results in a relatively low cost. In this therapy, a mirror is placed along the median sagittal plane of the patient between the two limbs, higher or lower, in order to transmit visual stimuli to the brain to induce the illusion of the limbs are moving synchronously. Considering the simplicity, the results obtained and the low cost of mirror therapy in this work we explore resources available on mobile devices like tablet and smartphones to propose a remote monitoring model based on recording and sharing videos of mirror therapy sessions considering two types of users: therapists and patients. The model is presented as a prototype of a remote monitoring system of patients that use mirror therapy in their rehabilitation. Experts evaluated that the system presents great potential to aid in the rehabilitation of the upper limbs and may be used by any patient due to its ease of use. Among the future work made possible by the current version of the system are the patients tests verifying the implications of the system in the therapy.

In the same way, since the late 1970s, traffic accidents are one of the main public health problems, especially accidents involving multiple victims, that is those that produce more than five serious victims. In such cases, the assistance provided to victims of such events is a decisive factor in minimizing the consequences, establishing an increase in the survival rates of victims. It is in this sense that the continuing education of the nurse, as well as the entire team of first responders working in the Emergency Mobile Care System (SAMU), is built as an essential factor, since the educational process is configured as a tool Training, creating continuous improvement. We believe that the development of computational solutions in the form of mobile applications represents an effective way to deliver content and reach the target audience. In order to assist SAMU rescuers in the acquisition of specialized knowledge and the decisionmaking process in multiple-casualty accidents, in this research we developed a prototype application that provides information about the actions to be performed in events of great magnitude. We base the development of the application in the Systems Development Life Cycle Theory, using the concepts of low and high fidelity prototyping. The prototype included information on definitions, planning, screening methods, interactive quiz, and instructions for decision making. Thus, the prototype application presents itself as an auxiliary tool for use in the continuing training of SAMU professionals, and can create the same dynamic of other traditional teaching strategies, which allows for critical reflection and knowledge construction. Mobile application onboarding processes effect on user attitude towards continued use of applications / Mobil applikationers onboarding processers effekt på användarattityd mot fortsatt användning av applikationer

Eriksson, Hanna, Parflo, Emelie January 2019 (has links)
The growing popularity of smartphones in recent years has led to an increase in mobile application development and use. However, a large number of mobile applications are only used once before being removed. For companies and organizations to spend time and money on application development only to achieve low user retention rates is unsustainable. During their first interaction with a mobile application it is crucial that users find functionality and value quickly to avoid discontinuation of use. User onboarding is often implemented in mobile applications to aid in first time interaction, making onboarding processes subject of investigation for effect on user attitude towards continued use of mobile applications. The study examined mobile onboarding processes and their effect on user attitude towards continued use of applications as well as the difference between onboarding processes effect on user attitude towards continued use of applications. The study was conducted within-subjects through a survey consisting of interaction with two prototypes with different onboarding processes and a questionnaire based on the technology acceptance model in order to investigate the variables of interest. The results of the survey were analyzed to measure the effects of the onboarding processes on the factors of the technology acceptance model and to investigate the differences between the onboarding processes. The results showed that user onboarding has a positive influence on perceived usefulness, attitude towards use and intention to use. There was no significant difference between the different types of onboarding patterns effect on attitude towards continued use. The positive effects on attitude and intention to use confirmed that implementing onboarding processes in mobile applications could be beneficial for value proposition and user retention. The perceived usefulness proved to be the determining factor on attitude and intention to use.

Rôle des croyances et des attentes dans l'acceptabilité des applications mobiles d'information voyageur / Role of beliefs and expectations in the acceptability of traveler information mobile applications

Ngom-Dieng, Laina 20 November 2015 (has links)
This thesis addresses the problem of information systems (IS) adoption, starting from the problem posed by the deficit in use of traveler information mobile applications, yet applications designed to help solve problems related to transport in modern societies. It attempts to answer the question of which factors may improve IS use in their potential audience. Given the supremacy of the system-centered approach giving priority to technological factor in identifying the determinants of IS use, this work defends the view that a psychosocial approach is better able to elicit the processes by which individuals come to use these systems. In this context, the first axis of this research examines the role of beliefs in adoption. The results obtained under this axis show that beliefs-based models predict quite well intention to use IS taken as an indicator of adoption. But they also show the limitations of these models in predicting initial use intention, at the acceptability stage, a strategic pre-adoptive stage when the threshold of the first experience of use is not yet crossed (study 1). This raises the need to go beyond beliefs to better understand the determinants of initial use intention. To this end, the second axis of this research questions the role of expectations in adoption. The results obtained under this axis show that expectations are powerful predictors of pre-adoptive beliefs, and, beyond, direct predictors of initial use intention (studies 2 and 3). These results are of great theoretical and empirical significance. They show that expectations are directly involved in the explanation of initial use intention at the pre-adoptive stage, when these have always been considered as operating only in the post-adoptive stage where their disconfirmation/confirmation after a first experience of use determines the degree of satisfaction and continued use intention. Overall, this thesis brings new light on how beliefs and expectations come into play along the adoption process, and weigh fully on decisions related to IS use.

Mobile application for a bus operation controlled by the traveler: a user experience design projewct (UX).

Frederico, Claudio de Senna 13 March 2019 (has links)
The thesis proposes a solution for the unique way in which passengers until now hail buses at stops using hand gestures to try to make them stop. This is the only case in which public transportation riders still depend for service on this undependable method that is especially critical for those with disabilities or all users during stressful conditions or hours. At the same time, the use of the application permits services that halt at all stops to stop doing so resulting in higher commercial speeds. The proposed solution uses a mobile collaborative network like those used for e-Hailing taxis and cars. Different from other solutions that display location and time distances of all buses to passengers, it takes over all actions that are necessary to stop the bus where the passenger has called from. Three development options are outlined for services that are specifying new systems, for those that already have an outdated one and wish to adapt them to include these new functions or those that prefer a simple parallel solution. This last alternative can also be used by cities without centralized bus operation control and counting on limited funds that are looking for a simple and economical but complete solution. The probable acceptance of this application by the public is tested without having to develop a working prototype, by using discussion groups with visual stimulation to develop travel experience recall. The use of this simple method proves itself adequate for early pre-prototype testing of system development which can economically correct major mistakes before greater investments in the project are made. The application, by broadcasting traveler intentions and leaving the rest to the transportation system, is in line with today\'s choice of emphasizing system developments that include context, as well as intentions, in their results instead of search information that is turned over for passenger decision. Many additional applications are possible, as the approach researched agrees with today\'s trend of Results from Context in which services rearrange themselves according to the situation and user intentions if this information is transmitted and used.

Mobilapplikationer som marknadsföringsverktyg för B2B? : En studie i mobilapplikationers inverkan på kundrelationer & kundvärde / Mobile applications as B2B marketing tools? : A study of mobile applications impact on customer relations and customer value

Haglund, Veronica, Nilsson, Jonas January 2012 (has links)
Mobile applications are often claimed to be a suitable marketing tool for B2B companies and the world market for B2B mobile applications is expected to outgrow the mobile app market for consumer products within a few years. The idea of using mobile applications as a B2B marketing tools has been discussed by theorists in the field for years but there is still an evident lack of studies focusing on the use of mobile application in a B2B context. Many practitioners seem convinced that mobile apps have the potential to become a powerful B2B marketing tool. Yet B2B mobile applications are still fairly uncommon and great insecurity seem to prevail in regards to how companies can use mobile apps successfully as vehicles for B2B marketing. The purpose of this study is to investigate how mobile applications can be used as marketing tools in a B2B context and to investigate if mobile applications have any impact on customer relations and experienced customer value. To do so, we have conducted a case study of a B2B company using a mobile application in their marketing programme. A quantitative telephone survey was conducted to estimate awareness and usage of the app among customers within the target group. Qualitative data has been compiled through a number of in-depth interviews with involved stakeholders of the investigated company as well as a number of customers using the app. The empirical findings have been analyzed using a theoretical framework based on theories of relationship marketing and value creation, encompassing Morgan & Hunt’s (1994) Key Mediating Variable Model and Amit & Zott’s (2001) Value Creation Model. The findings of the study indicate that mobile applications can have a positive impact on customer relations and the value that customers experience when engaging in transactions with a company. Furthermore, a majority of the respondents participating in the study have a positive attitude towards mobile applications and believe that mobile apps have a number of advantages in relations to other marketing channels. Based on these finding the authors have come to the conclusion that mobile apps can be an appropriate marketing tool for B2B-companies seeking to deepen customers relations and enhance customer value.

Supporting device-to-device search and sharing of hyper-localized data

Michel, Jonas Reinhardt 08 September 2015 (has links)
Supporting emerging mobile applications in densely populated environments requires connecting mobile users and their devices with the surrounding digital landscape. Specifically, the volume of digitally-available data in such computing spaces presents an imminent need for expressive mechanisms that enable humans and applications to share and search for relevant information within their digitally accessible physical surroundings. Device-to-device communications will play a critical role in facilitating transparent access to proximate digital resources. A wide variety of approaches exist that support device-to-device dissemination and query-driven data access. Very few, however, capitalize on the contextual history of the shared data itself to distribute additional data or to guide queries. This dissertation presents Gander, an application substrate and mobile middleware designed to ease the burden associated with creating applications that require support for sharing and searching of hyper-localized data in situ. Gander employs a novel trajectory-driven model of spatiotemporal provenance that enriches shared data with its contextual history -- annotations that capture data's geospatial and causal history across a lifetime of device-to-device propagation. We demonstrate the value of spatiotemporal data provenance as both a tool for improving ad hoc routing performance and for driving complex application behavior. This dissertation discusses the design and implementation of Gander's middleware model, which abstracts away tedious implementation details by enabling developers to write high-level rules that govern when, where, and how data is distributed and to execute expressive queries across proximate digital resources. We evaluate Gander within several simulated large-scale environments and one real-world deployment on the UT Austin campus. The goal of this research is to provide formal constructs realized within a software framework that ease the software engineering challenges encountered during the design and deployment of several applications in emerging mobile environments. / text

Νικολόπουλος, Κωνσταντίνος 27 May 2014 (has links)
Mobile Health or mHealth, namely the use of mobile and wireless technologies in order to improve health services and achieve health goals, is today one of the most rapidly expanding fields of electronic health (eHealth). The number of health professionals that adopt smartphones to perform multiple tasks, during their everyday medical practice, is increasing constantly. This is due to the fact that smartphones provide advanced computing capabilities and high portability. Simultaneously, medication errors are among the most common medical errors which have negative impact both for the health of the patient and the expenditure on health sector. Drug prescribing is quite a complex procedure, considering the fact that requires the health expert to analyze multiple factors and retrieve, process, manage and digest large volume of information. According to the literature, the use of information technologies to assist health professionals in decision-making when prescribing drugs, can contribute significantly to the reduction of medication errors. In the context of our work, we explored and evaluated the major smartphone applications for drugs, aiming to the extraction of useful conclusions about the features and functions that they incorporate. One of the research key findings was the absence of a corresponding application for the drugs that are approved by the National Drug Organization of Greece. Therefore, we design and develop an application for checking drug-drug interactions which additionally provides the ability to view national formulary information about drugs. The analysis and design of the application was implemented in collaboration with future users, such as health professionals and patients, in order to ensure that will meet their needs and requirements and at the same time will remain user friendly. This application is intended for Android smart mobile devices (e.g. smartphones, tablet PCs) and the information that integrates is solely based on the national formulary of the National Drug Organization of Greece.

The Development of a Travel Supported Platform with Mobile Application for Backpacking

Wang, Tzu Yu Unknown Date (has links)
Nowadays, touring is a popular leisure activity. According to statistics from the Taiwan Tourism Bureau, people arranged their own domestic travels as high as 88%. Because backpacking can be economical and more flexible, many young people tend to travel by themselves. Therefore travel planning has become the most important preparation work. How to plan an effective schedule and how to arrange the routes between attractive points are the tasks that backpackers often need to face. However there are few information services for the needs currently. The thesis designed and implemented a travelling support platform. First, the research identified design key elements by interviewing users and analyzing travelling behaviors. Second, the research mapped the touring process into functional models. Finally, we built and tested the platform prototype. This platform is Cloud-based and seamlessly integrates both website and mobile application to achieve the information service. Users use the website to schedule their trips and upload the schedules to the cloud database. Then the user can access the same schedule made at website on the mobile APP synchronously. They can check their schedule while they are traveling on the mobile phones. In addition, they can edit the schedule and rearrange new traffic routes real-time to adjust to the local circumstances. The further developments of the platform will include more integrated services, such as multimedia contents, social network, and intelligent logic scheduling. With the evolution of the technology in the future, the platform will provide better user experience.
