Sobre dores e amores: caminhos da tristeza materna na elaboração psíquica da parentalidade / On pains and love: paths of maternal sadness on the psychic elaboration of parenthood

Cristiane da Silva Geraldo Folino 09 May 2014 (has links)
Entre as questões levantadas a esse propósito, alerta-se para o risco de se negligenciarem ou, no outro extremo, patologizarem as dores inerentes à delicada construção da parentalidade / Gestation and the first times in a babys life are fundamental to the establishment of bonds with the parents; apart from guaranteeing their survival, it provides the basis for the webs of their psychism, forming the ground on which their relationships will develop throughout their life. Concomitant to this construction, the parents go through an analogue process, gradually building themselves in this condition as they relate to the child. However, these first times may have a strong impact on who generates and cares for the baby. Thus, the aim of this study is to enlighten the womans post-partum psychic experiences and to verify the resources developed to cope with the psychic work necessary to face the grieves and to build and exercise parenthood. Through a qualitative research theoretically bound by psychoanalysis, five mother-baby pairs were studied. There were a minimum of four encounters with each pair: at least one on gestation e three post-partum (one-week, one-month and two-month old). The gestational meetings took place at a location chose by the participant and the puerperium encounters, at her home. With psychoanalysis instrumental, semi-guided interviews and observation of the relationship established by the mother with the baby and with the researcher took place. Each case was separately analyzed and possible confluences between them were verified. Taking into account the specificity of the psychic maternal functioning and the impact of the demands of a child on who must help them live, the research revealed the importance of considering the amplitude of the carrying and caring phenomena. This role, that all mothers must play, was experienced, at least at first, as brutal and disorganizing not only by the woman, but by the whole family. The difficulties of metabolizing these experiences and the losses inherent to the process for instance, the ideal baby, idealized motherhood, narcissism, the previous rhythm and the routine, among others may damage the construction and the exercise of parenthood and even thwart the overcoming of the baby blues, eventually unfolding depressive phenomena (manifest or covered). The real gains resulting from the babys arrival may be lived from this contact with the losses and its elaboration. It was also concluded that prevention and care mechanisms for the family must be built in these first times of the baby\'s life, with collaboration between the various disciplines involved and with public health policies. Amongst the issues raised to this purpose, an alert is made to the risk of neglecting or, on the other end, pathologizing the pains inherent to the delicate construction of parenthood

O sintoma psicomotor: a problemática do gozo na relação mãe-filho / The psychomotor symptom: the issue of joy in the mother-child relationship

Paula Werner Severo 28 January 2011 (has links)
This research sought to study the psychomotor symptoms in childhood, it includes disturbances such as dyslexia, dysorthographies, problems with coordination and balance and some diagnoses of Hyperactivity and Attention Deficit Disorder which cases have been exponentially increased at the present. The etiology of the psychomotor symptoms for a long time remained obscure and exclusively related to injury and neuronal disorders, which has left as the only alternatives medical and reeducational treatments. With the psychoanalytic studies started by J. Lacan and M. Mannoni about these symptoms, the etiology became gradually clearer, and it was related to the family fantasy in which the child is immersed as objects of satisfaction. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the constitution of this symptom, the enjoyment and fantasy of children and caregivers involved in this relationship. To achieve these goals, it was made a bibliographical research on psychoanalytic concepts and clinical attendances for children with psychomotor symptoms through the Sujeito e Corpo Lab, at the University of São Paulo. The results indicate that the joy in psychomotor symptom involves two people, more often the mother-child, which arise in a relationship of interdependence and leave no space for autonomy and independence necessary for the child development. The psychomotor symptoms are the result of a fantasmatic satisfaction which envolves the children body in this relationship

Nesse momento emerge a angústia. / Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is the persistent lack in social communication and social interaction in multiple contexts, including deficits in social mutuality, nonverbal communication behaviors used for social interaction, and ability to develop, maintain, and understand appropriate relationship with other persons around. Present work is a qualitative study with phenomenological approach based on Martin Heidegger's theoreticalphilosophical and methodological framework, carried out in a city placed in Minas Gerais’ Zona da Mata region, with 14 mothers of diagnosed children, who from January to March of 2016 made their statements in meetings mediated by empathy, after the approval of the Ethics Committee of Federal University of Juiz de Fora. From the vague and median comprehension emerged the Units of Meaning: hard to accept the diagnosis and not having the perfect child; The biggest problem is family and society non-acceptance due to lack of information and The coexistence made me learn things that I never imagined to learn, I learned to be human. The elaboration of this thread led to the second methodical moment, the interpretive or hermeneutic understanding. The autistic-mother-been-there starts from the diagnosis facticity, goes through the impropriety on denying or not accepting the disorder and becomes inauthentic, since she ceases of been an individual and becomes the "autistic mother". In everyday care it reveals the talk, the curiosity and the ambiguity. It also uncovers the occupation in dealing with autism, worrying about the child and been-there-with-theothers that becomes deficient. In this moment the anguish emerges. Because is a circular movement, falls again veiling the authenticity achieved as a way of being-there-with the child. The developed research allowed the unveiling of some important meanings pointed out by the philosopher and thinker Martin Heidegger. Relating them to findings of previous research, it is possible to perceive similarities in feelings suffered by mothers of persons with ASD. This research suggests accomplishing new studies with approach directed to nurses and health professionals in order to know their vision about this situation, questions and discussions about how to act and participate side by side with these mothers and families. It is also necessary to rethink public policies to reach this part of population in a more efficient and inclusive way.

The present study aimed to understand the emotional experiences of mothers of female adolescents whose daughters were diagnosed with anorexia nervosa and who are receiving treatment at the Out-patient Clinic for Eating Disorders at the University Hospital of UNICAMP. The Clinical Qualitative Method was used, through in-depth semi directed interviews, using an intentional sample, closed by saturation, with seven mothers of female patients with anorexia nervosa. The interviews were conducted individually in the Outpatient Clinic of Eating Disorders, HC UNICAMP. Ethical Care was taken following the ethical standards established by the National Council of Health. The technical data processing was done through the qualitative content analysis of the fully transcribed interviews and categorization. The emerging categories were validated by peer-reviewers from the Laboratory of Clinical-Qualitative Research, UNICAMP and presentation at national and international conferences. The findings made it possible to identify aspects in mothers of patients with anorexia nervosa which were organized in three categories: Non-differentiated mother-daughter and failures in communication; Quantity versus quality; e Anorexia and opposition as an attack. Mothers propose a fusional relationship with their daughters, in which the aspects of individuality are ill-defined. The daughters' attempts to become individuals are felt as an attack, and experienced by mothers as injustice and aggression. The mothers have difficulties to understand their daughters' logic and try to remedy a qualitative deficiency with quantity, especially of food and care. A vicious circle is formed, in which motherhood is confused with rigid control standards and expectations for the daughter and every attempt of the daughters to individualize are experienced by their mothers as an attack on the mother and on her devotion, which leads mothers to increase her offensive to make her daughter adapt to the model she is proposing. We concluded that the findings provide important contributions which can improve knowledge and clinical interventions to treat anorexia nervosa, emphasizing the need for psychotherapeutic and psycho-education for the mothers of these patients / Mestrado / Ciencias Biomedicas / Mestre em Ciências Médicas

How the death of a father/husband affects the mother-child rela[t]tionship

Brite, Brooke M January 1900 (has links)
Master of Science / Department of Family Studies and Human Services / Anthony Jurich / Throughout this report, I focused on how the mother-child relationship is affected following the loss of a husband/father. I started with a case study and followed with the effects of losing a spouse, the effects of losing a parent, specifically how the mother-child relationship is impacted, and ended with a recommendation for a course of therapy, referencing back to the case study presented in the opening chapter. The loss of a husband/father is an extremely difficult occurrence, and as illustrated in this report, will have a lasting impact on the complexities of the mother-child relationship.

Schäfer, Laura 22 December 2020 (has links)
A secure bond between mother and child in the first years of life is formative for a child's development. The quality of this attachment is an important predictor of long-term physical and mental health. Building a strong attachment requires the investment of resources on the part of the caregiver at the temporal, physical, and emotional levels. Multimodal biological cue stimuli on the part of the child promote this commitment. First, such signals serve to identify one's offspring (kin recognition) in order to subsequently invest resources in a targeted manner. In addition, infantile stimuli can mediate affective responses that facilitate attachment formation. In this context, olfactory cues, e.g., body odors, are also effective, but to date there has been little systematic research on their influence on the parent-infant relationship. Individual studies show that mothers can recognize their children by smell and that infant body odors also mediate positive responses at the neural level, although it is unclear how specific neural activity is to the smell of one's own child. The present study aims to investigate the influence of infant body odor in the mother-infant relationship across the infant developmental span, taking into account genetic, hormonal, and neurobiological factors.:Danksagung 4 1 Zusammenfassung 6 2 Summary 9 3 Einführung in die Thematik 12 4 Studienziele: Abgeleitete Forschungsfragen und Hypothesen 21 5 Methodik der Untersuchungen 23 6 Zusammenfassung der Ergebnisse 26 7 Diskussion und Ausblick 29 8 Literaturverzeichnis 40 Anhang I Verzeichnis der wissenschaftlichen Veröffentlichungen, Konferenzbeiträge und andere Leistungen A Veröffentlichungen der Dissertation und dazugehörige Angaben B Weitere Veröffentlichungen während der Promotionsphase C Konferenzbeiträge und andere Leistungen während der Promotionsphase II Letters of Acceptance III Erklärung zur Eröffnung des Promotionsverfahrens IV Bestätigung der Einhaltung der folgenden aktuellen gesetzlichen Vorgaben

Colonial Roots Exposed: Tracking the Paradigmatic and Discursive Shifts of the Canadian Institutional Mother-Child Program

Grégoire, Alyssa 31 January 2022 (has links)
Despite the increasing numbers of criminalized women in Canada, the use of the Institutional Mother-Child Program (MCP) remains low (Brennan, 2014). It is well known in fields of Criminology, Criminal Justice, and Indigenous Studies, that Indigenous Peoples are overrepresented in Canadian prisons; they represent about five percent of the overall Canadian population, however Indigenous women make up forty percent of all incarcerated women (Miller, 2017). Incarcerated Indigenous women are often mothers of young children, come from poor backgrounds, have little education, and suffered abuse at some point during their lives (Monchalin, 2016). In this thesis, using Indigenous Feminisms (IF) (Suzack, 2010, 2015) and Penal Moderation (Loader, 2010; Snacken, 2015), I address the following research questions: How has the MCP policy evolved over time? How have the policy changes represented a (de)colonial approach to criminal justice policy? To answer these questions, I conducted a feminist critical discourse analysis (FCDA) of all the final versions of the Correctional Service of Canada’s MCP policy (CD 768).

Pretend play, or make-believe play, is important for child development. However, the development of mother-child pretend play in the toddler years has not been clear. Through this study, we aimed to examine the development of mother-child pretend play in the toddler years. Participants were 18-, 24-, and 30-month-olds and their mothers. We observed these 3 groups in a mother-child pretend-play session. Results indicated that 18- and 24-month-olds need their mothers to exhibit pretense signals. However, 30-month-olds do not need this. In sum, pretend play in the toddler years develops from the stage where the mother's pretense signals are necessary to that where the child becomes independent. / 博士(心理学) / Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology / 同志社大学 / Doshisha University
