Nilsson, Ewelin January 2017 (has links)
This project has been about a design proposal for an office owned by the design company Millcroft. The space wasn’t suitable for meetings, flexibility or function. The lighting conditions in this room are not well suited for the users. A literature study gave a basis for the design of the final result. The methods in this project included a needs-analysis, a site-analysis, a percifal-analysis and a qualitative interview. These methods have clearly shown which problems are present in the room and need to be solved. The design proposal that has been developed during this project has solved the problems in the room by creating an environment that supports meetings, function and flexibility in a workspace that has a limited area and light design. Some problems with the finished design proposal are also discussed.

”Det skulle varit enkelt” : En undersökning om förutsättningarna för utformandet av biblioteksplaner i Sveriges kommuner / ”It should have been easy” : A study about the prerequisites for the development of library plans in the municipalities of Sweden

Evadotter Kåreholt, Fredrik, Skantz, Pernilla January 2022 (has links)
In the Swedish library law, there is a clause that indicates that every municipality shall have a ‘library plan’. At the time of 2015, approximately a third of the municipalities in Sweden did not. The aim of this thesis is to map out the most important prerequisites for the development of library plans, and what the top managers of the public libraries see as important for the process. The material used for the study consists of interviews with the top managers of public libraries from municipalities with library plans and data collected from all municipalities in Sweden about the resources libraries have. The results of the study shows that municipalities without a library plan spend fewer resources on the public libraries and they have fewer librarians. Lack of time and staff are important problems for the development of library plans, but also insufficient collaboration between different parts of the municipal organization. The most important prerequisites for the development of library plan are interested politicians, enough time and resources allocated, and that the different parts of the municipal organization want to cooperate.

Holmberg, Karl January 2024 (has links)

Hägglund, Anna-Sara January 2017 (has links)
This thesis is a study on how to design a multipurpose preschool room, where the  organization and structure of the room communicates its functions and purpose. The purpose with the study is to design a room that can be a tool for the preschool teachers and that helps children develop their curiosity and learning skills. The specific case takes place at Krongatan preschool in Eskilstuna. The study evolves around theories about form, colour, light and how it can be used in the design of a multipurpose preschool environment. The study also includes theories about affordance, design principals, spatial elements and organization of preschool environments. Empirical data has been collected through interviews, spatial analysis and observations. The theories together with the collected empiric data have resulted in a design proposal. The proposed design consists of spatial elements to make the environment legible and create an environment that invites to different activities.

Stålberg, Karolina January 2020 (has links)
The industrial area Larsfrid-Vilhelmsfält in Halmstad will be transformed into a residential-, service- and educational area. Heavy cloudbursts in the future are more than today's stormwater- and sewer pipes can handle. There is a possibility to supplement the drainage system with blue-green solutions for planned management, retention and storage of stormwater from daily rain and pluvial flooding. The solutions also do other ecosystem services as reducing heat and support biodiversity and their multifunctionality make them suitable on valuable land. This work has studied opportunities for blue-green solutions, especially green roofs, permeable surfaces and multifunctional spaces in Larsfrid-Vilhelmsfält. The study questions have been How can Halmstad municipality work with blue-green solutions as a resource in Larsfrid-Vilhelmsfält? and Is it possible to point out spaces in the Larsfrid-Vilhelmsfält area for blue-green stormwater management? The method consists of a literature study, questions to municipal officials, study of downpour maps and visual inspections. The first study question has been answered trough advantages and disadvantages according to different blue-green solutions, different laws, the planning process, costs and benefits and examples from Malmö and Göteborg amongst others. The second question has been answered trough suggestions of blue-green solutions pointed out on an image of Larsfrid-Vilhelmsfält. The image is created from a map overlay of an orthophoto and information from a downpour map, information from aerial photos from Internet and visual inspections on site. The municipality of Halmstad has a chance to start early with sustainable urban drainage systems in Larsfrid-Vilhelmsfält. There are ways to calculate costs and maintenance. It is easier and more inexpensive to construct blue-green solutions before the area is finished, than after. Without it, it will be much more expensive to take care of the suffering and the physical costs caused by pluvial flooding.

Nors, Cajsa January 2020 (has links)
In this paper, I discuss the presence of farm animals in longhouses during the Iron Age in Sweden with some examples from Europe. Longhouses are often described as multifunctional housing. Though housing animals indoors has been questioned in the past, it remains a generally accepted interpretation. This paper aims to investigate if and how animals were housed inside and how archeologists in the future should work with the issue.

Infrastruktur och människors transportval : Omvandling av tidigare E4 genom Umeå från genomfartsled till stadsgata / Infrastructure and choices of transportation : Rebuilding of previous highway through central Umeå from passageway to city street

Karlsson, Nils January 2023 (has links)
After the breakthrough of the personal car in the early 20th century many cities were planned with the idea that every person should use their own car for transportation within the city. Highways were built, splitting neighborhoods straight through. However, car is a very space inefficient mode of transportation, and the roads and parking lots make other modes of transportation unpleasant. Therefore, it is a bad mode of transportation in cities, where space is valuable and an efficient land use prominent to create a safe, well-functioning and living city. This essay investigate what factors are most important when redesigning roads to encourage a usage of more sustainable modes of transportations, such as biking, walking and public transportation. By collecting previous studies, six themes (travel time, barrier, attractiveness, safety, security, acceptance) were chosen to be used in a thematic analysis of a traffic investigation by the consultant firm Trivector ordered by the council of Umeå. The traffic investigation analyzes how to rebuild a previous thoroughfare avenue through the city center to a more livable place. The purpose is to prioritize sustainable mode of transportation and minimize the number of cars using the road (but still allowing them to). The thematic analysis concluded that the traffic investigation was mostly suggesting measures that focused on changing the travel time between the means of transportation (in favor of biking and public transportation). It also suggested a lot of measures to increase the attractiveness of the roads for people walking. Traffic security was treated mostly by mentioning its importance. Safety concerns was regarded as something that was improved by the attractiveness of the area, since a more crowded area makes the place feel safer. Acceptance was not mentioned at all in the investigation.

Embedding Carbon Nanotubes Sensors into Carbon Fiber Laminates

Andolfi, Riccardo January 2022 (has links)
The use of Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) composite materials in structural applications has increased in the past decades in highperformance sectors, such as in the automotive and aeronautic industries, for weight reduction purposes. However, FRP composite materials can offer more significant innovation potential. The application of CNTs in conjunction with composite material can allow the creation of multifunctional materials, relying on FRP for the structural side and CNT for the sensing ability. In this master thesis, the embedment of a Vertical Aligned Carbon Nanotube (VACNT) layer into the interlaminar region of Carbon Fibre (CF) laminates to provide polyvalent sensing ability to the material was investigated. In order to obtain accurate results, the sensor had to be isolated from the rest of the laminate. For this reason, the main problem to be solved in this project was the electrical isolation on the CNT layer and its contacts from the layers of CF laminate. This study aims to find a suitable isolation technique in order to apply the CNT sensor technology, developed in previous studies, into CF laminate. Although thought for aerospace applications, these sensors could be applied to different structural components in various fields.
