Service location system for local and remote security domains.

Sakuragui, Rony Rogério Martins 29 September 2006 (has links)
In the last decades, one of the most important progresses in computation is related to the distributed systems. The usage of these systems has increased a lot, in the last years. Due the emergence of wireless technologies, systems have acquired mobility and dynamism. People can enter or leave places, such as home, workplaces and entertainment spots, caring their mobile computers; networks can be formed or extinguished in accordance with the people dynamism; and new services can be available or interrupted. At these systems, a service location system is needed to keep track of the unceasing modifications in the network. The service location enables that services and devices can be found, at dynamic or static networks. This master thesis proposes a system for location of the logical addresses of services and devices at local or wide area networks. This work contributes to issues related to distributed systems control, usability and automatic network configuration. This system also solves questions related to service usage between networks using firewalls or NAT. Besides that, other points related to network interconnections in distributed systems, for example, using the Internet, are raised and solved.

Hult, Yngve, Montgomery, Patrik January 2018 (has links)
Today the internet is a world wide web connecting billions of devices. All these devices need an IP-address to be able to communicate with one another. With the current version of the internet protocol, IPv4, the address space is limited. To solve this problem a transition to the latest version, IPv6, has begun. But the transition is going slowly partly because of a temporary solution called NAT, Network Addressing Translation. With the help of interviews with highly appointed employees from large IT companies in Sweden, this study examines the impact of factors other than NAT that are affecting the speed of the transition, and why a technically advanced country like Sweden is so far behind in this process. The results show that the demand of the consumers is not high enough and that cost versus incentives is not balanced well enough for a transition to go quicker. But in time the speed will increase and further research could perhaps help the speed of the transition grow.

Mutações no gene nat de isolados de Mycobacterium tuberculosis: efeito na atividade enzimática e no perfil de resistência à isoniazida / Mutation in the nat gene of Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains: effect on the enzymatic activity and on the isoniazid-resistance profile.

Cecon, Letícia 24 April 2009 (has links)
Since around 25-50% of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains resistant to INH do not present any mutation in katG, inhA, ahpC and kasA genes that could explain their resistance, we proposed to evaluate the influence of specific mutations in the nat gene in the mechanisms of resistance and in the activity of NAT. All strains were identified and characterized molecularly by the amplification by PCR of the IS6110 region and by MIRU-VNTR, respectively. The minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) was performed using the REMA method. After screening of mutations in the resistant-related genes by PCR-SSCP followed by DNA sequencing, 45 strains were selected to be evaluated for specific mutations (by PCR and sequencing) and mRNA expression of nat by real time RT-PCR. It was showed that mutations in the katG gene were the most frequent and related to INH resistance since 68.4% of all resistant strains presented mutation in this gene. Mutations in the promoter region of inhA gene, oxyR-ahpC intergenic region and kasA gene were found in 8.8%, 5.6% and 21.6% of the strains, respectively. Mutations in the nat gene, four of them not previously described, were found in 40.0% of the strains. Although those mutations influence in the protein produced it was not observed a direct relation in an increase in CIM. It was also noted no relation between the expression of mRNA of nat gene neither with the MIC values nor with the number of mutations, both specific of nat gene as well in the other genes characteristically related to INH resistance.

American Slave Narratives and the Book of Job: Frederick Douglass’s and Nat Turner’s Quests for Scriptural Authority and Authenticity

Francis, Hattie 23 April 2014 (has links)
Slave narratives influenced nineteenth-century American religious culture and history; through the slave narrative, modern readers experience the African-American struggle for freedom and personhood in the antebellum South. While the slave narrative stimulated identity- formation, once identity was formed a narrator fought for authority and control of that identity throughout their narrative. This struggle for control is present in the narratives of Frederick Douglass and Nat Turner. Due to each slave’s religious allusions, African-American literary scholars repeatedly link Douglass and Turner to biblical books such as Jonah and Ezekiel. However, this thesis will examine Frederick Douglass’s Narrative of the life of Frederick Douglass, an American slave, Written by Himself, and Thomas R. Gray’s The Confessions of Nat Turner through the lens of the Book of Job. By examining Douglass’s and Turner’s pursuit of knowledge through correlations within the Book of Job, both scriptural authority and authenticity emerges within each narrative.

"Black Cowboys: Self-Sufficiency in the American West through the ideology of Booker T. Washington"

Brown, Paige M 17 May 2013 (has links)
Despite the black cowboy's considerable achievement, the history of their lives remains largely uncovered. Most historiographies present a sympathetic picture, but what is missing is the voice of the black cowboys. Using the views and ideologies of Booker T. Washington, black cowboys were able to become self-sufficient men. This thesis will present a comparison and contrast between the historiography and autobiographies of black cowboys. Furthermore, giving black cowboys a voice through the philosophies of Booker T. Washington and presenting an argument on why the stories and histories of black cowboys have only recently been resurrected, largely because popular media in the progressive era did not include their stories.

Nation-building In Belarus

Famich, Maiya 01 February 2012 (has links) (PDF)
The purpose of this thesis is to examine the process of nation-building in the Republic of Belarus from 1991 till the present time. The focus is made on two main projects of nation-building presented by the official authorities and the political opposition. The main concern of this thesis is to make a comparative analysis of these two projects of Belarussian national identity. Also, the thesis examines the views of the official authorities and the political opposition on the history of Belarus, which is used as a tool of national identity construction in their projects of nation-building. Concepts of ethnic and civic nationalisms are discussed aiming at understanding the nature of nationalism in Belarus together with different theoretical approaches to ethnicity.
