No. of bitstreams: 1 DENISE DE BARROS CAPUZZO.pdf: 596288 bytes, checksum: f6d8951bbab86a538c1648c4d3466a32 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2012-08-28 / Considering the increasing life expectancy and engagement of older people by seeking their rights and existing public policies, I noticed the significant demand in education for these people, aiming at universal access to knowledge, thus opening programs Open Universities of the Third Age. As a consequence, the question arises: Who are the professionals responsible for the education of the elderly? There is a teacher training specific to old people? From these questions, we sought a methodology that would favor this research. I chose a qualitative study, consisting of literature review, document analysis, observations and field diaries and interviews. In order to highlight elements that could contribute to think, question and discuss the education of people of various old documents analyzed UnATIs run, I tried to investigate, identify students / educators and the / the two programs UnATIs run, trying to discuss the contents, prioritized themes and goals of these programs, in addition to student motivation / as well as the dynamics of teaching practice with older people. After data analysis and effort to establish connections, mediations and contradictions with the theory concludes that educators old people must have the technical skills, scientific and policies to carry out its activities, so training in gerontology becomes recommendable. A striking aspect well in educational practice with older people is affection, both in terms between educator / student ae / ae among students / as. The research also showed me that the exchange of life experiences that also have emotional aspects involved in this process is critical teaching and learning. Other significant elements are: the language of the educator / a, the character of the proposed activities that should result in immediate and practical benefit and the prospect of enhancing and / or mediate the construction of citizenship and autonomy. The data collected allow me to say that old people who seek programs aimed at seniors, are not only in search of adaptation to social reality, but to be active in this process, intervention and transformation of their realities.

In a society which a narrative that shows scarce, being changed for communication ways each more virtual, work the memory is one of the needs process to avoid the shared of social relationships and the silent process and the forgetfulness of the history lived by the subjects. Following this way, this research has as objective, besides to deepening on studies about old people time and their historical contributions, to use 6 music that were success on 60´s years to evoke memories and narratives of life ways of old people in Focal Groups, to, this way, could know the Brazilian society considering who has lived it. It was organized 4 Focal Groups: 2 in Araras/SP and 2 in São Paulo/SP. The groups were shared between men and women from 60 up to 75 years old. On total, participated of this study 21 old people, 9 in the groups from Araras/SP and 12 in the groups from São Paulo/SP. The Focal Groups had during time of 1 hour and 30 minutes and were recorded with audiovisual format to make easier the post transcriptions. After these transcriptions, were used the Minayo´s speech categories (1999) and, by this way, could develop analysis that increases the memory power on the work with old people, knowing the Brazilian society by them lives. Remember, so, if became a work tool that possibilities broke with forgetfulness initiated in this society and rebuild the old people past by their narratives of life way / Esta dissertação de mestrado vincula-se ao Núcleo de Psicologia Política e movimentos sociais (NUPMOS) do Programa de Estudos Pós-graduados em Psicologia Social da Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP).

: A study about how assistant nurses define, chart and work with loneliness connected with aging

Vestman, Martin January 2019 (has links)
The aim with this study was to illuminate the work with loneliness among older people and how assistant nurses work to chart older peoples psychosocial needs with following framing of questions: How does loneliness appear among older people? How does assistant nurses work to chart the work with loneliness among older people according to socialstyrelsens values? How does assistant nurses work with loneliness among older people? To answer those questions, I used seven qualitative semi-structures interviews and then analyzed it from a hermeneutical perspective. With that background, I temathisized the interviews to the concepts aging and loneliness, work with charting of the work with loneliness among older people from Socialstyrelsens values, the teory of activity and the theory of disengagement. The results showed that loneliness among older people was understood through physical disabilities and a lack of social network according to the persons who was interviewed. The work with older people according to Socialstyrelsens values (SFS 2001:453) has shown to be a combination with the theory of activity and the theory of disengagement because of the individually oriented care. According to the three themes and goals of Socialstyrelsens values (SFS 2001:453) to create an individually oriented care, to respect older people and that the staff should have an adequate competence was partly processed according to my respondents answers. The individually oriented care and the respect for the older people were connected when the assistant nurses work with liaisonship, social interactions with the individual and adaptation of the care depending on the individual and situation. It also seems that there are some issues with the charting of older peoples psychosocial needs according to Socialstyrelsens values because of an communication problem between the caretakers and the assistant nurses according to the persons who were interviewed, which means that the goal about adequate education partly is processed.

Not just sitting and being : an essay about creating quality of life in old people´s homes

Jacobsson, Susanne January 2010 (has links)

Abstract: Objectives: to investigate the relation between nutritional status indicated by BMI, unintentional weight loss, functional conditions of feeding and self-rated oral health and global health in elderly women and men recruited in the community. Methods: 689 elderly participated (470 women; 65 -90 years old, M = 72,28 + 5,40; familiar monthly income from < 1 > 10 minimum wages, M = 4,72 + 5,27), selected from a random sample of Study FIBRA-Campinas about frailty. It was taken weight measurements, height and BMC and applied questions of self report to measure the rest of the variables. Results: Twenty-eight percent scored for obesity, 14,39% for pre-obesity and 14,83% for low weight; 24,86% had lost weight last year; chewing problems were the most frequent (30% of the samples); 20% had at least 3 functional problems for feeding; 72,41% showed high score of self-rated oral health, 58,86% in global health. More women and elderly from 65 to 74 years old scored obesity; more elderly with low incomes lost weight and had functional problems for feeding. The worst functional conditions for feeding and incomes below 5 minimum salaries were strongly associated with negative self-rated oral health and global health, and the last one being more affected than the first one. Conclusion: Negative self-assessments of health tends to associate to low self-care, that can aggravate chewing problems, taste and swallowing, and the probably comorbidities associated. The poverty powers the damage, because it has relations with access problems and health quality services. / Mestrado / Mestre em Gerontologia

Comparative study on user's perception of privacy issues on Facebook : Young adults vs. adults in Sweden

Rodriguez, Juan Tomas, Obradovac, Irma January 2017 (has links)
Facebook is a social network that has more than 1.5 billion active members. With the term ‘active’ we mean users who sign in at least once every day on Facebook. Sharing personal information has become a popular activity within the development of all the social networks. Facebook, for instance, contains settings for privacy that allow the user to adjust how "far" the user wants to share his/her own personal information. The problem comes when this can lead to private issues and concerns. The aim of this research was to study the privacy issues perceptions of people within two different ranges of ages, under and over 35 years old. Firstly, we analysed how much people know about privacy on Facebook, and then we tried to understand if there are similarities or differences between those two groups. We thought it would be interesting to know the current state of this phenomena and there was no much research done in Sweden about it. The research was conducted using the mixed method because we wanted to get more global responses from a larger number of respondents in a survey and we wanted to get more detailed answers from an open questionnaire through interviews. We intended to know how is the general knowledge about privacy on Facebook among Swedes. The results showed that people who belonged to the adults group took slightly more care on their privacy than the young-adults group. Also, we discovered that, in general, people are more informed about the risks coming from privacy leaks than a few years ago.

Fall accidents and exercise among a very old home-dwelling population

Iinattiniemi, S. (Sari) 03 March 2009 (has links)
Abstract High age is a distinguished risk factor of falling, but there remains gaps in epidemiological data among very old people. Also, effects of exercise-oriented intervention implemented by geriatric teams is not known. The aims were to describe the incidence and risk factors of falls, the risk of fall-related injuries associated with physical activity, and to investigate the effect of pragmatic exercise intervention on fall risk among a home-dwelling population aged 85 years and older. The target population consisted of home-dwelling citizens of Oulu aged 85 years or more (N = 827). Altogether 555 people (mean age 88 SD ± 3), representing 67% of the population sample, were evaluated by interviews and clinical assessments. Falls and physical activity were monitored via telephone nine times during a 27-month follow-up constituting 1114 person years. Risk factors of falls were determined during an 11-month period before intervention, as were the effects of the intervention during a 16-month period thereafter. Negative binomial regression, pooled logistic regression and Cox regression analyses were used to analyze data. The incidence rates of falls, major soft tissue injuries and fractures were 1039 (95% CI 974–1093), 74 (58–92) and 89 (72–108), respectively. The probability of getting injured was higher in the morning and evening than in the daytime. The contribution of the ongoing activity and the type of falling to the risk of injury was less than that previously reported among younger home-dwellers. The risk factors of falls were a history of recurrent falling, trouble with vision when moving, use of an antipsychotic drug, and feelings of anxiety, nervousness or fear. Exercise other than walking was associated with a reduced risk of injury-causing falls. Pragmatic intervention wasn’t effective in preventing falls, but it was effective in preserving balance performance. Among those with better functional abilities, intervention was effective in reducing the risk of the first four falls. Adherence to recommended interventions was relatively low. In conclusion, the frequency of falls and fall-related fractures increases up to the highest ages. Anxiety-related disorders may be more important risk factors of falls than are drugs commonly used in treatment. Exercise related to everyday activities is safe among the most elderly. The effects of practical exercise intervention are promising, but attention needs to be paid to adherence to exercise in order to improve these effects.
